  1. Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/653238/nissan-says-rav4-hybrid-economy-unrealistic/ Automakers are not above taking shots at each other for performance claims like real-world fuel economy. Most recently, Nissan took aim at Toyota's RAV4 hybrid indicating the fuel economy ratings on the popular small SUV are exaggerated. Case in point, the Nissan X-Trail e-Power uses a gasoline engine to recharge the onboard lithium-ion battery and gets an estimated 6.1 liters per 100km, or about 38.6 mpg. By comparison, the Toyota RAV4 uses a conventional hybrid system that delivers an estimated 4.7 liters per 100 km, or the equivalent of 50 mpg, a fuel economy increase of about 30 percent. Nissan indicates that the fuel economy differences between the two vehicles are not as far apart as the estimates suggest and believe the real-world performance is closer. "I think with the fuel economy, it's a tricky one. We'll leave it in your hands to do the real-world testing. But from a lot of the articles I've seen for RAV4 Hybrid, you can't get anywhere near 4.8 (liters per hundred kilometers)," says Aleksandar Pecanac, Nissan Australia's product manager for X-Trail. Nissan goes on to claim that its X-Trail e-Power system delivers a superior driving experience. According to Adam Robertson, deputy director of the Nissan Technical Center in Europe, the X-Trail drives "More like an EV, and we know from our experience with EVs that customers love it." Robertson goes on to say, "EVs have the highest level of satisfaction for acceleration, and that's not just the outright performance for a car like the Porsche Taycan. That's all EVs. "We also know that traditional hybrids have the lowest satisfaction. We wanted to capture the customer experience that they really like and bring that in with e-Power." The Nissan X-Trail e-Power launched last fall in Japan and Europe as an electrified version of the Rogue. The automaker has not yet indicated if and when it will bring the e-Power version of the Nissan Rogue to the US. Currently, Nissan's US website only mentions the e-Power on the Nissan Leaf.

  4. Dear Esteemed Readers, It is with a heavy heart and a huge dose of disillusionment that I would like to share with you a personal anecdote about the Nissan Qashqai. Firstly, to be fair, with respect to the road tax- and petrol- saving 1.2 L Qashqai, the first five years of driving had been a breeze. However, all heel broke loose, merely a day after my Qashqai's 6th birthday last September. The chronology of my Qashqai's meltdown is as follows (I apologise for any technical typo): A. Replacement of the faulty (1) Evaporator Cooling Coil $320 (6 Sep 2021) (2) Dashbox $280 (6 Sep 2021) (3) Tow Truck Activation $140 (29 Oct 2021) (3) Thermostat Housing $270 (30 Oct 2021) (4) Manifold Gadget $60 (30 Oct 2021) (5) Fan Motor - Air Con $320 (30 Oct 2021) B. Dismantling and Assembly Costs in total $470 C. Locked gearbox with inability to shift the gear from Parking to Drive As recently as last December, it had taken me an average of 5 to 10 minutes to wait for the gearbox to disengage and move off but the situation dovetailed to a complete lockdown last month in which I have to use a pen to depress the Shift Lock button in every instance of gear shifting. D. Busted Speakers The last straw that broke the camel's back occurred yesterday when suddenly, the speakers just blared as loud as a car horn within the car (even at the lowest volume), the intensity of which still leaves me shell-shocked. I sincerely hope that the aforementioned sequence of unfortunate events only applies to yours truly but on a cautious note, I would strongly urge you to re-consider your buying option upon selection of a second-hand Qashqai. Thank you for reading.
  5. The spy photos aren't the best quality – they look like they were taken from quite a distance – and camouflage hides the finer details. However, we can see that it should wear new clothes even if the underpinnings carry over unchanged, which is the current rumor. It'll borrow design cues from the redesigned Nissan Juke while taking inspiration from Nissan's IMQ concept. You can see the Juke's influence at the rear with the prominent rear quarter panels and sloping hatch glass. The interior is expected to receive a major overhaul with a new dashboard design and a revamped infotainment system. Nissan will begin focusing on electric vehicles instead, using two new hybrid systems. One is suspected to be the company's ePower system that pairs a gasoline engine with batteries and an electric motor. The other could be a plug-in hybrid system relying on Mitsubishi's experience in the arena. Other gasoline engines will likely feature mild-hybrid setups to increase efficiency.
  6. luckily not many people drive Renaults for this to be a problem... but if you're one of the many who have a Nissan Qashqai drinking engine oil like mad and didn't understand why... now u know. 7. Greeting, After 3 mth of car searching, below is the pro and con of the 3 cars I have shortlisted which all can get at ~$114k same price range. Handling comparison for these 3 car is not part of my consideration among them as all are in acceptable level to me. fyi, I only need to drive ~ 1k km/month. My criteria are based on total cost to maintain, look, spacious, equipment level and performance. 1.2L Qashqai (OMV 19k): -Cheapest to maintain (lowest Road tax & insurance), good FC -Pwr & torque - Weakest among the 3 cars -Up to date equipment level -Has numerous power lost complaint concerns -Bonus as this is the only car that has my preferred colour (best exterior look) Remark: The only wow factor if I get this car is because of my dream colour 2L Forester (OMV 14k): -highest insurance and worst FC -Best performance among the 3 cars but not very far apart unless is XT -Dated equipment but can still live with it -Spacious Remark: The only wow factor if I get this car is if I upgrade to XT with additional ~$10k Like the spacious but dislike the cost to maintain 1.6L C4 Picasso (OMV 22k) -Highest road tax but best FC -Futuristic and best in equipment (best interior look) -Most spacious and with rear aircon vent -Worst reliability Remark: This car will be my 1st choice if minus away the reliability (which is one of my most important criteria) concerns. The worst reliability might resultant to highest maintain cost than the Forester May I have your advise which car should I choose and why? Thanks
  8. A Nissan qashqai was caught on video going out of control last friday in Bishan. As seen in the low-resolution video, the white SUV crashed through the fence and onto the wrong direction of Bishan Road while doing a flip and more. Thankfully, the lost of control of the car did not cost any lives. According to SG Road Vigilante, The 80-year-old driver and his 74-year-old female passenger were conscious when they were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Obviously, there is going to be some negativity once the driver's age has been revealed... Thankfully there are some nice people out there that are more understanding...

  18. Hi to all QQ owners out there! Jus gotten my new ride 2 hrs ago (Qashqai+2)!!! Find that there's no QQ forum in Singapore (been searching everywhere for past 2mths)... So hope to start a thread here to get to know all fellow QQ owners (cos' I personally find that we r a special breed... Those who own a QQ shld know watt I mean). Hope that we can exchange views on our rides and make it an enjoyable time owning this ride. So here goes: 1. Enigma_beng - Qashqai+2 (Nov 10) 2. 3. 4. 5.
  19. Stage 1 Gonna start an audio system upgrade on Qashqai J11 In many occasion, the first to upgrade a car stereo is the speaker, head unit and addition amp. Often sound isolation or acoustic treatment is being left out in the equation. There are 4 main things to consider in car audio. 1. Speakers. 2. Amplification. 3. Source.(head unit). 4. Acoustic treatment.(soundproofing). http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Vehicle-Car-soundproofing-deadening-Engineers-view-/10000000176936757/g.html Personally, I feel that Acoustic treatment is the most important as it form the frame work or foundation resonant frequency of the car itself. If Acoustic treatment were to be in the last stage, there is a possibility of retuning the system again. (dismantle of parts, cover, speaker etc .) Love hate relation with vibration Vibration we love How do speakers work? http://www.physics.org/article-questions.asp?id=54 The electromagnet is attached to a cone made of a flexible material such as paper or plastic which amplifies these vibrations, pumping sound waves into the surrounding air and towards your ears. Vibration we hate As the speakers are generating these musical frequency, its also generated vibration within the door panels chamber. Often these frequency are trapped within the door chamber and causes crosstalk of frequency. Not forgetting that vibration from the car itself during moving off. As a result, some frequency are loss and some are amplify. That why we often hear the ugly sound of bass banging onto the wall of the inner panel. As much of the frequency(force) is being reflected back. In addition , other lose frequency. Solution Method 1 Weight the car down. By adding enough weight we can reduce the vibration of moving parts. However, efficiency suffer as more horsepower is require to move the car. Bad fuel consumption. Method 2 dampening material http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/vibration.html Vibration dampeners and noise deadeners can improve the sound of your vehicle by lowering the amount of ambient noise when you drive. Here are a few ways how: Speaker grilles tend to resonate and buzz, road and engine noise can come through the firewall and floor, and a door panel missing a rivet can vibrate noisily. Noise deadeners can help reduce these annoyances. Just using an inexpensive door kit can make your speakers sound better by damping the resonance around the speaker area. If your vehicle has a lot of ambient noise, applying a vibration damper can give you a quieter, more relaxing ride. Method 3 Acoustic Insulation 3M Thinsulate Acoustic Insulation is a cavity filling solution for automotive sound insulation applications. Compressible, lightweight and conformable, this product can be readily processed by conventional techniques such as die-cutting, heat sealing and ultrasonically bonding High performance and low density making them ideal for mass reduction applications Each method has it pros and cons Most convention and common is method 2. However, I decided to go for the 3M thinsulate as it should be the most elastomeric materials (An elastomer is a polymer with viscoelasticity (having both viscosity and elasticity) and very weak inter-molecular forces, generally having low Young's modulus and high failure strain compared with other materials.) also being lighter of the 3 and easier to work with. It just like going to the boxing ring with mike Tyson and you gonna tired him out by draining his energy by all those empty punch being throw at you. A empty punch is more tiring then a punch which land on the opponent. UNDERSTANDING DAMPING TECHNIQUES FOR NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTROL http://www.earsc.com/HOME/engineering/TechnicalWhitePapers/UnderstandingDamping/index.asp?SID=62 Sound test Please dont ask the wife or girlfriend for feedback. They always reply : NO different , why waste the money. But to ours Trained ear it really make a different.. Day and night.. After 3 installation on Qashqai I m totally convinces it works. All the cymbals sound like crystal bells All the bass sound more beefy Mid all around.. no more messy sound Songs Tested Rebecca Pidgeon No rattle on the door panels / vocal just flow into your face Carpenter It going to take some times - Sweet voices of Karen just feeling so lushy full / Feel like there a drum set right infront of me / All the instrument sound at the right volume. Megadeth Dawn Patrol ( the ultimate Drum and bass ) My ear just bleed. However, dont expect the 3m Thinsulate to perform magic an turn the car to total isolation from the outside. Nevertheless, it a good platform to start with Stay tune for stage 2 ....
  20. Hi All, Like to find out if there is any workshop that install rear-airconditioning for the 2nd row seat? Is this advisable? Thanks
  21. Hi Bros & Sis, since everyone love to pink your Nissan QQ, I would like you all to post your rides' photo to share with all the other QQ owners here. So we can exchange pointers to make our rides even more BEAUTIFUL.
  22. On Monday night (30th January) at about 8+ in the evening, I was driving on the first lane of the Tampines Road. There was a slow moving car on the 2nd lane, and a black car behind it. My car was half a car-length behind the black car on the first lane, I saw that the car was moving very near to the diving line between us, and that he had his right signal on. I then hit the brakes hard, as I thought that the black car was going to cut into my lane. After I hit my brakes, the SUV behind me horned me for more than a few good seconds. After we passed the slow moving car, he cut out into the 2nd lane, passed me, and cut back into my lane abruptly and without signalling, and then he suddenly e-braked. After stopping momentarily, he cut 3 lanes out and took the entrance onto the expressway in the direction of TPE. I think it's pretty obvious what his intentions were. To the driver of the Nissan, if you're reading this, maybe it's hard for you to believe, but I did not hit the brakes on purpose, I was just trying to avoid a possible accident. I'm not sure if you thought about what you're doing when you e-braked, you may want to take a chopper to me, whatever. But I had a passenger with me, and she's definitely innocent. Every time I think about what would have happened if I did not manage to stop my car in time, I get very pissed off. Why would any decent human being want to cause serious hurt to other people on purpose? To those who travel around this area frequently, do keep a lookout for this vehicle and stay clear of him. It's a dark colored Nissan Qashai, possibly black or dark blue, car plate SJV8420J. He definitely has some anger management issues, and while he may not want to go home in one piece at the end of the day, I'm sure that there's a lot of us that do. Drive safe, and stay safe!
