  1. Dog owners beware! A dog was found dead, hanging from its leash, after its owner entered a lift without realising that the dog was still outside. STOMPer Victor, a lift rescue personnel, said the incident took place at around 6.30am this morning (Jan 15) at Bukit Batok. In a phone conversation with STOMP, the STOMPer said: "I'm part of a lift rescue team and witnessed this tragic accident this morning (Jan 15) at about 6.30am. "A dog owner was heading back to her flat at Bukit Batok Block 621 after walking her dog. "She, however, entered the lift first while holding on to her dog's leash. "The lift doors were closing but the dog still outside the lift at that time. "It all happened very fast, and she had no time to react. "The lift then travelled up to level 3 of the block with the lady still holding on to the dog leash. "A few minutes later, the civil defence team and the lift rescue personnel arrived but it was too late. "The dog was found dead, hanging to its leash, at the lift lobby. "The owner was distraught and was seen crying. "I just want to warn dog owners out there to be more careful in situations like this."
  2. Hi ALL, anyone knows how to power a blender using a battery? Or anyone is able to help me modify the blender socket head so that it can be powered using a battery pack. I need it to be portable, so can't get power from power point. Need to modify it by getting power to drive the blender using battery supply. Greatly Appreciated. Thanks!

  7. Need some advice. Just moved in to my new house for a few months already.. Brought in my parents in law + bro in law to live together as they do not have a place of their own. To cut story short. My wife experienced a very bad encounter with his father. I will not list them all but a few only He brushed his hands against my wife’s bottom while he was walking behind her While my wife was walking in the house, he was sitting at the dining and staring at my wife’s chest area. How she knew this was that she was looking at him right in the face all along. While she was napping in the living room, she opened her eyes and caught her dad staring at her. When he notice that she’s awake, he walked off abruptly without saying anything. This incidents has caused her so much distress and lose all the respect she had towards him. She has been locking herself in the room while im at work and feeling shitty every single day. Crying every time she recalled these incidents. She felt that she has been sexually violated. Tried telling her mom, but she brushed it off as it could be an accident and it can happen anywhere. Even told my wife to forget all about it. It has been a few weeks and the tension at home is really tight. What should I do? Should I confront him? Feeling shitty thinking about this issue. Having a new and big house doesn’t mean happiness is guaranteed. Dang!
  8. Scenario A: A car travelling at 100km/h constantly on an empty road with a fly flying in the car. Is the fly keeping up with the car's speed? The fly would be travelling at the car's speed (100km/h) + whatever its flight speed is (e.g 3km/h) No, but why? If yes, really???!! ===== I actually researched about the answers before but this question always lingered on my mind so I thought to share. Maybe my mind works in a different way, always wondering about weird stuffs. I am also interested in seeing some of the explanations here. Thanks in advance

  10. Many of us from the 70's will remember this man ........... I started smoking after seeing you but quit much earlier than you ... R.I.P. yahoo news: Ex-Marlboro man dies from smoking-related disease LOS ANGELES (AP) — When it came to portraying the rugged western outdoorsman who helped transform a pack of filtered cigarettes into the world's most popular brand, Marlboro Man Eric Lawson was the real deal. Ruggedly handsome, the actor could ride a horse through the wide-open spaces of the Southwest, from Texas to Colorado to Arizona or wherever else the Phillip Morris tobacco company sent him to light up while representing a true American icon, the cowboy. And he really did smoke Marlboro cigarettes, as many as three packs a day. Lawson was still smoking in 2006 when he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He died of the disease at his home in San Luis Obispo on Jan. 10. He was 72. For three years in the late 1970s and early '80s, Lawson portrayed one of the most iconic figures in both advertising and popular culture. And for the past several years, Lawson had spoken out fiercely about the hazards of smoking, doing a public service announcement for the American Cancer Society in the 1990s, years before he was able to bring himself to quit. "He tried to speak to the kids, telling them don't start smoking," his wife, Susan Lawson, told The Associated Press. "He already knew cigarettes had a hold on him." more on his news, link: http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/news/ex-marlboro-man-dies-smoking-related-disease-034350253.html
  11. I just found out... I know of a lady, she had her first kid at 16 (a son). She is now onto her fourth husband. She had three kids in all. (all have the same father) Her second son got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 16. Her youngest, a daughter, got pregnant at 15. The daughters daughter just had a miscarriage - how old is she you ask? 17 years old. And what of the father? He just got out of prison, where he did a sentence for unpaid fines. Words fail me.
  12. Breaking News: http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/chelsea-sa...46564--sow.html So it looks like possible replacements are Rafael Benitez (who has been out of a job for more than a year), Pep Guardiola (on a sabbatical), or Harry Redknapp. Who does it look likely to be the next manager?
  13. Good read. http://therightwrong.net/2012/07/19/editor...far-is-too-far/
  14. Kallang Roars?? (for those who still remember it) Or noises made by female tennis players? Or the ear-shattering/piercing F1 engine/exhaust sounds? F16 fly pass noice? (doing air-show, considered as a sports) Pom-Pom girls dacing music/drum beats? For me, the engine-braking, exhaust noise of "over-run", hard-accelerations of F1, or even the noises made by this weekend's Super GT's GTRs, Ferraris, Z4, etc are really "addictive" -----> first from far i could hear the high speed engine sounds approaching as i stood about 400m before the 180deg turn at the end of the long striaght.... the sounds started like thunders from a distance, then they got louder, and louder..... and when the cars zoomed pass me, it sounded like a the sound made by jet fighted shooting pass, then they started to down shift and engine brake, this was when the "farting" (or some called it backfire) sounds came, a bit like fire crackers but 1000 times louder!! and my heart could feel the "vibrations" in the air caused by the loud "farts".... then some cars locked the tyres and smoke came out.... some cars gave up metalic sounds (maybe from the brakes which screeched). All so loud and 'brutal" as if the engine is going to explode or break apart!!...... but the merc mclarens and porsches sounded very tame, almost ghost like "silence"... the ford GTs (in the support race) were thundering LOUD when they accelerated out of the corners!! .... Ferraris, Lambo, GTR, Toyota, etc all had their own unique loud accelerate-FARTS!!! ..... the grand stand actually shook bros who heard the F1 sounds on track will know about it..... the engine brake sounds are the one i like most!!! they do sound like someone is trying to demolish the stadium/grandstand, with LOUD bangs aka FARTS!!
  15. Hi all, A happy new year to all! Would like to ask on behalf a friend who went in to Malaysia few days ago, on the way to my customs, think he travel on the 3rd lane, meant for bus and larger vehicle and was stop by " white uniform" police, he wasn't not sure if its TP or police. Anyway, he received a summon, no fine amount indicated and the offence was "POTONG" (cut lane, I suppose), the strange thing was, like I mentioned earlier, no fine amount indicated, and the summon stated for him to go to court by a given date, 1/2/2012. Anyone encountered this before? I have try to check online according to his summon serial no but seems no website available for this. Firstly, don't flame my friend (though seems like well deserved) as the above offence deems flammable by most bros here which was "POTONG", right now, would like to be advised of what to expect or do in action for this summon. Lastly, appreciate and thanks for any advice given here. Regards

  19. I would like to propose the above as since some months ago, the political animals or powerhouse forumers have been running all over and affecting the mood of this wonderful forum. To have their dedicated folder will serve many purposes: 1 it will placate those who are not into political bashing and getting damn sick of the antics of those who like to blame everything on government without logic. It is getting very nauseous. 2 those political animals will have a dedicated channel to voice to vent their angle and frustration and find solace and sympathy there. 3 it will be good for housekeeping. By limiting those of same kind into a folder, it will be easy to handle any fallout from trouble with authority. 4 by limiting viewership, as those not into politics will steer clear of the new folder, the 'movement' will not be encouraged due to limited readership. There are young punks who might be misleaded due to the troubling language and attitude used. This is primarily a car forum after all. Those with ulterior motives or agenda should carry their war elsewhere, and not throw their s--t here. Sincerely hope the mod team will accept this proposal to reduce the adversity level here, and enhance the forum ambience.

  21. A 15-year-old Indonesian boy is dead after he fell into a flooded drain and was swept away during Wednesday's heavy downpour. The dead body of the boy, identified only as William, was found by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rescuers in the canal next to Block 82, Whampoa Drive, reported Channel NewsAsia. He had been reported missing for several hours after his friends saw him fall into a flooded drain near Balestier Road during a heavy thunderstorm. The teen, who was here on holiday, was with two other friends when the incident happened. His friends described how William was wading through shin-deep waters at 2:30pm when he fell into the drain.Although the drain is guarded by a railing, William is believed to have fallen into the 1.2-metre drain after stepping through the railing. His friend said they tried to rescue him but he was then swept away by onrushing water at the intersection of Mindu Road and Mandalay Road. Link

  23. AN INDONESIAN man who lost all his money at the Resorts World Sentosa casino stole a mobile phone from an undergraduate at Changi Airport. Paulus Djohar, 49, unemployed, was jailed for four weeks on Wednesday after pleading guilty to stealing a $500 phone from Ms Lim Tse Min at Terminal 1 on Tuesday. A court heard that he came here from Malaysia last Tuesday with the intention of patronising the newly-opened casino at RWS. As he lost all his money gambling at the casino on Monday, the second day of its opening, he decided to steal from passengers at Changi Airport. Early on Tuesday morning, Djohar was at the airport when he approached Ms Lim, who was with a group sending a friend off. One of them in the group saw his suspicious movements and alerted Ms Lim, who discovered the phone gone from the side pocket of her backpack. She and the witness confronted Djohar. Djohar, who said he regretted what he had done, could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_491285.html
  24. Wana check with you guys if you had been bugged by this A*E insurance on the phone. I keep telling them to delete my contact details (at least 3 occasions) from their system but the calls don't stop! They can call me 2 times within 10 mins even after I told them I am in meeting. The 2nd caller with same number still has the cheek to say this is her first call! Darned pissed off! The other insurance companies are not so bad, at least I tell them once they delete off my contact from their list. Do you guys face the same problem with this particular insurance or is it just me?!
