Hi All, i had recently purchased a 'new' 08 kia cerato variant 2, intending it to service my needs of ferrying my family and kiddo around. Everything seems well and fine, until i went for a fan belt, water pump change 2 weeks later, as i want the car to be in perfect running condition. After the change, things starts going haywire.. the car temperature gauge starts to creep up past 1/2 point mark, till 3/4 to 'Hot'. This happened when i drove the car for some time (30 mins or so?) and when the car is idling either from traffic lights, or parked in the parking lot. Rev-ing the car in neutral, or moving off will result in temperature dropping. Fan is spinning when aircon is on, fan is spinning when aircon is off as well, hence mech said its isnt the issue. Went back to garage the next day, was advised to changed out radiator and refresh a few hoses, as the radiator were kinda chocked with, and it even choked several hoses as well. Thermostat had been removed as well -.- Sadly, after doing all the changes, the issue still persist. Noticed during the testing of car after installation done, air bubbles were present in the coolant reserve tank. Mech said most likely head gasket is gone as well. Curious any bro or sis or gurus had any similar experiences on this? how much roughly will the repair cost be this time? Sigh :/ Thanks!

Hi, Thinking to buy engine mount parts n find a workshop to change. Any workshop recommendation with reasonable labour charges. U can pm me too. My ride is altis 06. My current servicing workshop always charge double for labour cost as to discourage people buying parts n ask them to fix. Faint. Thanks a lot. -

Hi, My car check engine light was on. I went to a workshop to get it diagnose. The error code is P2096 Told me need to change catalyst convert....few thousand. Any encounter this before?

guys, recently my car's check engine light turns On again. it happened few months ago and i got a mechanic who specialises honda car in ubi area to fix it for $280 in 5 mins. i guess i want to try and get it fix somewhere else to see if i could get it done one and for all without having to be a carrot. well, i'm driving an EK. when the engine light turns ON, sometimes it lost power on gear one. sometimes it works as fine. and sometimes, it goes back to normal after i restart engine. this problem has been a few days. today, it just doesn't turn Off after i tried to restart. all the good honda mec i know are located in the WEST, i wish not to travel that far to fix this. TIA

Well my 10 year old car got the COE renewed so am thinking of replacing the fuel filter, not oil filter, not air filter. The fuel filter is in the fuel pump near the fuel tank. CnC quote 600 to replace both the fuel pump and filer as it comes together in as assembly, should I change it, it is pretty ex but the filter should be already dirty.

Hi there! I have just bought a Nissan Almera 1.8 from 2004 manual transmission. One thing i have noticed, is that it makes a slight whining sound that will pitch up with the engine speed and then the whining sound will disappear when the engine speed increasing I have recorded the noise with my phone https://instaud.io/1RR6 What could it be? Hi Have a Toyota Picnic and was recently asked by workshop to change the steering rack assy. Quite expansive, and looking for 2nd opinion and quotes for replacement. Any good workshop to recommend.

Hi all, anyone experience light clicking or clattering sound in their auto car when during light acceleration? The sound is very much like a manual car accelerating and upshift of gear when the speed for that gear have not been attained.

Ok my problem, the car dont idle very smoothly when it is not warmed up or when the weather is very cooling. Went to workshop A, plug in laptop. Boss straight away say 02 sensor need to change and quote me a price. As need to order the sensor, i went off without fixing first. Next day, went to workshop B, the boss plug in a handheld device. Then say is MAF sensor dirty or faulty, he proceed to clean sensor. Fix MAF sensor back, he say faulty. Must change. Tell me dont believe, you try with the sensor unplugged. Indeed the car was more powerful and run smoother. So which sensor is the faulty one? Workshop seems very confident it is the o2 sensor. But the maf sensor when unplugged really improved alot. Can anyone advise on this?

Hi all, if you saw my thread about 6 months ago, i drive a '10 Lexus GS450h (s190) car is about 8.5 years old now , but a nightmare happened..... i was stuck in a Jam on the way back from Johor at CIQ. Engine produces diesel like clattering noise. no problem driving yet with no engine light whatsoever. Next, white smoke from exhaust, did not notice any rising temperature levels. After clearing passport, car engine shuts off, the engine still starts , but Temperature level rises to H and does not accelerate. (worst place to have a breakdown, $500 sgd to tow back to sg.....) Workshop diagnosis still not clear, engine taken down from car but yet to open up engine 6 cylinders, only 2 cylinders have normal compression ratio, 1 is completely dead, the remaining 3 are very weak... predicted repair sum they mentioned was upwards of $5k, but no promise that it will not be higher. if Scrapping the car is not an option, how would you repair it? workshop suggested overhaul or new engine ( from scrapyard, if there is any in the first place) any knowledgeable people able to advise on this issue ?? from replacement engine availability , price, any past experiences with similar cars... I did not have predicted a LEXUS to give me 2 big big problems with less than a year on owning...... maybe conti more common but can't find any info regarding present issue on internet... leaving scrapping out, i dont think anyone would wanna spend a fortune on a car with less than 2years coe left.... quotations from workshops that are able to repair at the cheapest possible rates are appreciated too.... your help and advice are deeply appreciated........

Hi guys seeking help here for some issues for my ride. Assuming the car has been warmed up after a 45min drive. - approaching traffic light RPM seems to decrease to about 400-500. Engine vibrates but not violently.however it did not stall once. Once coming to a stand still RPM will hover around 600 rpm. Slight vibration felt but car did not stall. All these is when the vehicle is in D mode. - idle in P or N mode have a very slight vibration that seems normal. Around 700-800rpm. Vibration is definitely much lesser than in D mode. - When engaged in R mode. The vehicle will jerk and rpm drops to 600. It reverses normally. No need to step on the gas however vibration can be clearly felt Servicing has been done recently New oil for both engine and transmission New coolant New spark plug New MAF sensor Last but not least. Hi All, I would like to get an advice from bro for my case below. This morning, I went to service my car (Toyota Axio) , to check aircon intermittent cooling and normal servicing. But W/S told me I need to change aircon compressor and all 4 shock absorbers (right side at rear is leaking) and lower arm front. Total bill was S$2400.00 (They round it for me). Did I get ripped off by W/S or is the price around there? I have attached the invoice for reference. If I got ripped off, can recommend any good W/S? Thanks in advance.

where to go for transmission auto check? When I try to accelerate (Almost flooring) from a filter lane to an expressway, it seems to be lagging, like it would rev high then after a second or so get what I want it to do and then start to accelerate. Is this called gear slip? I do not remember my previous auto being like that it at least not so obvious. Could it be that I am used to the response time of a manual or is the cars transmission giving way?

Mechanic says my ride aircon compressor giving out noise liao... its already 7yrs old ride. Any avante driver here change their aircon compressor before? How much does it cost and which aircon servicing shop should I go ? Need to change or just change oil? since only 3 more years to drive...

I have tried to search for similar issue in this forum, but couldn't find any. So I decide to start a new thread, hope someone can advice me. The issue with my 2009 Kia Cerato Forte steering wheel is when travelling at highway speed (eg. 100km/h), whenever i need to make a slight adjustment to the steering wheel (eg. 5 degrees to the right), the steering wheel seems to stuck, and I need to use a bit of strengthen to turn it. This has nothing to do with the steering wheel getting heavier at higher speed. I don't encounter the same issue when travelling at low speed. I think my car's steering wheel is electric powered, as when I open the bonnet, I don't see steering fluid reservoir. Anyone has any idea what's wrong with the steering wheel on my car?

Hi, My 2008 estima moonroof sometimes fail to respond to control button. On some days, the moonroof does not respond to both rear and front button. On some other days, the moonroof will suddenly become responsive to both rear & front buttons again. i suspect it may be loosen control/power wire connection, but am unsure. Is there anyone here with some experience to share or any recommendation on workshop which is good in such trouble shooting moonroof?
