And now, the ongoing competition is to see who has the largest... ... screen. Automakers seem to have moved on from the horsepower wars and are now focusing their attention on a new kind of contest. Judging from car launches in recent years, it looks like there’s a race for the title of the largest infotainment screen fitted to an automobile. Mercedes-Benz is committed to taking part in this race; just look at the humongous center screen that the all-new 2020 S-Class will have. These are the very first spy shots of the luxury sedan’s portrait-style center screen which is the size of China. We don’t know exactly how big it is, but since the digital instrument panel is wider than on the current S-Class, the center display is at least as wide and significantly longer. From this distance, it seems even bigger than the iPad Pro 12.9, the world’s largest tablet computer. Look closely and you’ll notice some physical buttons at the bottom of the screen. They control the driving modes, hazard lights, volume, on/off, and some other functions we can’t decipher. Most functions will be accessible via the center touchscreen. Besides the digital instrument panel and the infotainment display, the rest of the cabin is still covered. On the outside, it’s pretty clear that the S-Class prototype features the production headlights and taillights. However, their shapes remain unknown given the heavy camouflage. The 2020 S-Class will arrive next year with Level 3 semi-autonomous driving tech, which is a step above Level 2 systems such as Tesla’s Autopilot and Cadillac’s Super Cruise. The flagship sedan will reportedly feature hybrid-only versions using the latest 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter straight-six gasoline and diesel engines. The PHEV versions are expected to offer all-electric driving ranges of up to 62 miles (100 km). The S-Class is also said to debut a new 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with a fully variable torque split between the axles, as well as an active suspension that will work together with a 48-volt system and a stereo camera scanning the road ahead. Besides the S-Class, Mercedes is also developing an all-electric EQ S luxury sedan that will use a new MEA platform different from the S-Class’ updated MRA architecture.

The incident above occurred along Campbell Lane, where the cam car was approaching a vacant parking lot. However, as the cam car approached the vacant lot, a man clad in a black t-shirt and jeans stepped out to the front of the cam car to block his path. The man appeared to have done that to 'chope' the vacant lot for someone. Just then, a black Mercedes-Benz S320 swooped in towards the direction of the cam car and parked against the flow of traffic in the vacant lot. The cam car driver did not seem to have reacted during his encounter with the entitled black S320 driver. Incident #2 What Happened? In this separate incident that occurred at the carpark of Queen Street, a silver Mercedes-Benz S320 drove against the flow of traffic in an attempt to take a shortcut and 'steal' a parking lot from the cam car driver. Unlike the earlier incident, the cam car driver reacted to the entitled S320 driver by inching forward and cutting off the Mercedes-Benz. At 0:32 of the video, the cam car driver intentionally stopped alongside the entitled Mercedes driver - And this got me thinking, did the cam car driver scold or made any hand gesture towards the Mercedes-Benz driver? The bad rep of 'conti' car drivers Incidents like the above give 'conti' car drivers a bad reputation. And unfortunately, the public often remembers the bad rather than the good. Hence, it is self-evident why 'conti' drivers are stained with such a reputation, which will unlikely go away soon. A brand new Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTec belonging to an elderly German couple suffered a total write-off after a fierce fire started in its engine bay at a small town in Germany. The cause of fire was not mentioned in the report but it was said that the flagship sedan suffered extensive damage under its hood. At the heart of Mercedes' W222 S350 BlueTEC is a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel powerplant mated to a 7-speeder auto 'box to produce an output of 258hp and 620Nm of torque that will launch the 2-tonner sedan up to a max speed of 250kmh. For its mid-life facelift, the CL coupe has received a mild facelift and a new bi-turbo V8 engine. Visual updates include a redesigned front bumper housing LED strips with chrome surrounds for the daytime running lights, a reshaped hood, new headlamps and a more V-shaped grille. The LED turn indicators and position marker lamps along with the reprofiled rear bumper and newly-designed tail lamps round off the exterior changes. Under the bonnet, there's a new 4.7-liter bi-turbocharged V8 engine with BlueDIRECT technology, which is mated to a revised version of Mercedes-Benz's seven-speed automatic gearbox.
