  1. Foodpanda Tries Out Drone Delivery For Takeouts In Sentosa After ordering food online, the typical thing to do is wait for delivery riders to arrive at our doorsteps. However, foodpanda has now opened up a different way of delivering our favourite snacks. From now till 9 Apr, foodpanda will partner with ST Engineering and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) in a pilot programme. They will be using drones to transport food from selected eateries to trial participants. The programme’s success will then determine whether drone delivery can be a viable option for guests in Sentosa. Foodpanda will deliver food via drones According to SDC’s media release, ST Engineering, SDC and foodpanda are collaborating in a pilot programme to test the efficiency of drone delivery for takeaway. Selected customers will purchase food via the foodpanda app from St John’s island. Participating restaurants in Sentosa will then prepare the dishes. Foodpanda riders will transport the packaged items to a take-off point in Tanjong Beach. Drones specially designed by ST Engineering will deliver the food to St John’s island. The flight will take approximately 7 minutes. The drones’ flight path will be far away from highly populated areas in Sentosa and Tanjong Beach to ensure safety. Drone delivery may be expanded outside of food-delivering apps. This will depend on the cost of upkeeping the drones, the payment system and operational requirements. Foodpanda using drones will open up options The media release reports that Sentosa will be extending its gateway to other Southern islands and is looking to expand options for guests. The drone delivery system will be one of these options, enabling guests to have a wider selection during their staycation at Sentosa’s resorts. Foodpanda has successfully conducted a trial on drone delivery before by transporting five packets of fried chicken to an offshore vessel. This programme will be a continuation by foodpanda into the venture of drone delivery. SDC also hopes to use drone delivery to support businesses coping with the pandemic, helping them to reach a broader base of customers. Drones can help businesses reach a wider audience Technology is constantly being adapted to help us in new and innovative ways in this modern era. Drone delivery is one of the many ways technology can improve our livelihoods. Using drones to support suffering businesses is an innovative way of helping eateries recover from the pandemic. Hopefully, this pilot programme will go a long way in improving the takeaway options available to us.
  2. One thing that people are exceptionally fond of doing these days is posting EVERYTHING on social media. Unfortunately, this includes doing dumb things, filming it and posting it online for the world to see (Yes, it happens even if your account is private😞 IMG_7599.MP4 What Happened? In the short video, a 'chiobu' was filming herself and her two friends seated inside a Mazda MX-5. For those of you that know, the Mazda MX-5 is an iconic 2-seater Japanese convertible sports car. After looking at the image above, you wonder, "How do three people sit in a 2-seater convertible?" Apparently, this 'chiobu' decided to create a makeshift third 'seat' by sitting on top of the MX-5's centre console. Thereafter, the trio took a joyride in the Mazda MX-5 around Sentosa, while the 'chiobu' remained perched on the centre console. Without a doubt, what she did was dangerous. 1) Being seated on the centre console means she had no seatbelt on: She would have flown off like a rag-doll in the event of a frontal collision. 2) Her head was sticking out from the car significantly: If the car rolled over, she would have been decapitated even with rollover bars. How many traffic offences do you think were committed in this video? Let me know in the comments below! Netizens' Comments Book-smart but not street-smart🙃 Soon TP gonna have a 'social media' department already. If those 2 guys complete NS already but still so sohai, idk what to say anymore. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Every Singaporean aged 18 and above in 2020 is set to receive S$100 worth of SingapoRediscovers vouchers, which can be used on staycations, attraction tickets and tours. The vouchers can be used between December this year and the end of June next year. The SingapoRediscovers vouchers for tourist attractions, tours and hotel bookings will be given out via SingPass. Every Singaporean aged 18 and above in 2020 is set to receive S$100 worth of SingapoRediscovers vouchers, which can be used on staycations, attraction tickets and tours. The vouchers can be used between December this year and the end of June next year. A S$10 subsidy will also be provided for children and youth tickets for attractions and tours, said the STB. Each adult may purchase up to six children or youth tickets at subsidised prices during the duration of the scheme. Announcing the details on Wednesday (Sep 16), Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said the move will help the local tourism industry, which has been battered by the COVID-19. “This is not a social assistance scheme. This is an economic scheme to help our tourist attractions to preserve their capabilities that have been built up over the years, while they consolidate capacity in the interim,” Mr Chan told reporters at the Jurong Bird Park. The vouchers will be provided in denominations of S$10 via SingPass, and may be used to purchase tickets for attractions and tours, and accommodation bookings at licensed hotels, said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in a separate fact sheet on Wednesday. More details on the redemption mechanism will be announced in November. STB will be calling a tender to appoint the platform providers for the redemption of the vouchers, said chief executive Keith Tan. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat announced in August that the Government would give out S$320 million worth of vouchers to encourage Singaporeans to support local tourism businesses. The scheme will complement the ongoing SingapoRediscovers campaign launched in July, said the STB. More than 200 deals and bundled packages have been launched “to encourage locals to explore different precincts and aspects of life of Singapore”, the STB said. The vouchers will provide more encouragement for Singaporeans to do so, it added. All licensed hotels, tourist attractions and tours that have been approved by the STB to operate or reopen can benefit from this scheme. "We're working out the economic impact now, but certainly we do expect a return, not necessarily to the Government but obviously to the merchants. From the response we've seen so far, even from the initial SingapoRediscovers campaign, the merchants have responded very positively," said Mr Tan. "There is clearly a sense that they are responding, and the reason why they're responding is that they must see there is commercial return of interest and return of benefits to them," Mr Tan added. Mr Chan said he expects merchants to benefit from a "multiplier effect". “We’ll expect a certain multiplier effect because when people come here, they will also spend on other things ... So for example, they can use this to pay off the tickets or defer the cost of the tickets for coming in. But when they come in, they will spend on some of the F&B and other services that the attractions, hotels or the tours provide," said Mr Chan. “We think that there will be a catalytic effect. As to the exact extent of the catalytic effect, it will be hard to predict at this point in time, but we hope that is at least a few times what we have provided for in the Budget,” he added. Responding to questions on why the vouchers may not be used for F&B and retail purchases, Mr Chan said: "It's a balance between which sector we want to target, and also the simplicity in the administration so that people who (have) the vouchers can actually use it in a most convenient way. That's how we have designed the system." Thanking tourist attractions for “putting in an effort” to put safe management measures in place amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Chan said: “The other thing that they have done very well over the last few months or so was to help us work out the arrangement to have safe cohorting for the live performances.” From Sep 18, attractions that have received approval to resume operations can apply to the STB to increase their operating capacity from 25 per cent to 50 per cent, subject to approval from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Attractions can also apply to increase the capacity of their number of outdoor shows to five zones, with 50 people in one zone, subject to safe management measures. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/singaporediscovers-tourism-vouchers-chan-chun-sing-covid-19-13115702 in before haters gonna hate n negative comments as highlighted its an economic scheme meant to help the tourism sector with many livelihoods at stakes do our part or jus dont use the vouchers lor why need to kpkb so much so many negative comments on fb from ppl who dont get the whole point behind the tourism vouchers there r many ppl struggling out there n wud prefer more social assistance schemes to tide them thru n so may not understand these vouchers are targeted to help those in the tourism biz to secure their jobs n prevent the tourism n sector industry from collapsing with our borders closed to tourism now n in the near future even locals spending may not be of much help but can help jiu help? for those who still have jobs n wanna bring ur kids out. bt maybe shd have given to those under 18 toooo la

Resorts World Singapore (RWS), in collaboration with KF1 Karting, will soon be launching Circuit Tiki — Singapore’s first-ever indoor karting circuit. The 550-metre track comprises 23 twists and turns that will test participants’ driving skills. Safe to say, this is going to be far more challenging than the circuit we all had to familiarise ourselves with in order to obtain our driving licenses. Race against buddies While we have yet to get a sneak peek of the upcoming attraction, chances are it’ll be similar to previous events hosted by KF1 at their state-of-the-art facility. F-1 fans can look forward to slipping on racing helmets like a pro and manoeuvring around tight corners in the sleek go-karts. Perhaps the countless hours spent playing Mario Kart will help racers conquer the winding circuit and seal the victory against your buddies. 7. Ouch. That must have hurt quite a bit for the Honda Vezel driver. Spotted on various Facebook group is this video of a Honda Vezel doing an illegal u-turn at the junction of Telok Blangah Road and Sentosa Gateway on 26Nov 2020. Unfortunately for this Vezel driver, a Singapore Police Force Patrol car was among the cars that had the right of way and needed to avoid the crossover. Naturally, the SPF patrol car turned on its siren and stopped the Vezel immediately... So what can we learn from here? Like what your Army Encik says, if you insist of not following the law, just make sure you don't get caught...
  8. Thinking of bringing my baby girl to see fishes there tmr but got a few questions. 1. Where to park nearest? Is there a central car park for all attractions? 2. Would it be crowded since its CNY and most ppl away for holidays? Thanks
  9. Family Living in Sentosa Offers Up To $5,500/Month For Home Tutor For Triplets source: https://mustsharenews.com/sentosa-home-tutor/ Family Living In Sentosa Offers Up To $5,500/Month For Home Tutor For Primary 2 Triplets The Singapore school system is basically synonymous with the word “tuition”. It’s so common, that it’s more or less regarded as part and parcel of every student’s schooling experience here. Tuition centres with small class sizes are popular among many, but some kids need even more help and attention than usual. This calls for private tutors, who make house calls and can often teach more than one subject. Recently, a WhatsApp message requesting the services of a private tutor caught the attention of many who received it. Most private tutors are paid decently well, but this family’s offer sounds almost too good to be true. The full-time tutoring job pays up to $5,500 per month, and it’s at a beautiful home in Sentosa Cove. Tutor 3 triplets living in Sentosa for up to $5,500 per month The family looking for a tutor is supposedly a Chinese family who live at Sentosa. According to their message, they need a long-term, full-time tutor for their Primary 2 triplets. Unfortunately for the guys, they’re looking for female tutors only. Working hours are 2pm-8pm on weekdays, and 9am-6pm on weekends. The tutor is expected to teach the kids mainly English, and help them with Mathematics here and there. Tutoring 3 young, active kids for such long hours 6 days a week definitely doesn’t sound like an easy job, but boy, is that pay attractive. Family live at Sentosa Cove The family included their address in the message, so we took the liberty of checking out their sweet crib for a sneak preview of where the lucky tutor gets to hold her lessons. It’s a luxurious bungalow in Sentosa Cove. The best part is, it’s called Treasure Island. With all that clear blue water and open space around, it’s no wonder the kids need help with their studies. Who wouldn’t be tempted to go outside and play? Fill up Google Form to apply for the tutoring job We’re not certain if this job is really paying as much as it advertises, but it’s definitely worth applying for if you have the skillset and you like kids. The family included a link to a Google Form in their message. All you have to do is fill it up, and you’ll be in the running for this dream-come-true tutoring job. We wish the best of luck to all those who apply for this job. Make the most of it if you get it, and live your best life on Sentosa with your new clients!

  12. Wonder if we will ever get good rides like these? Maybe instead of stupid casino all over the place in Singapore, we should have a real good thrill ride or family theme park like Six Flags (especially magic mountain) or Cedar Point
  13. Parents, never lost sight of your kids when going to places or doing activities like cycling, swimming etc, always do it in a safe and guarded environment.
  14. SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Police were alerted to a cable car incident at Sentosa this evening. According to a tweet by The New Paper at 7:02pm, an empty cable car fell at Siloso Beach. "Worker trapped inside another suspended car. SCDF and police on site, rescue operations underway," TNP tweeted. A second tweet at 7:27pm stated that the worker had been rescued. SCDF later released a statement at 7:30pm confirming that its officers were onsite. "A cable car cabin undergoing commissioning fell during testing. There was no one onboard the cabin," SCDF said. "There was an engineer in another cabin which was unaffected. "The cabin has since been moved safely to Imbiah Station and the engineer is fine. There are no casualties." 19. SKH3536D? Is this a one-sided story? http://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/angry-ang-moh-driver-tails-nsf-home-beats-him-lift/ ANGRY ANG MOH DRIVER TAILS NSF HOME & BEATS HIM UP IN THE LIFT To Editors of A.S.S, This happened at my residence in Sentosa this evening 25 June 2014. My son was driving back from his army camp and just after entering Sentosa, a car cut abruptly into my son's lane so my son horned at him to avoid any accident. As a result, the other driver horned back at my son. My son ignored this and continued driving not realizing that the other car driven by an angmo was following him. Once my son reached our residence car park the other car tried to follow but was stopped by the security. So the angmo left the car outside and ran inside the carpark even though the security guards tried to stop him. He ran towards my son who had parked his car and followed him. When my son entered the lift lobby using his access card, this ang mo barged into the lift and started shouting at my son accusing him of nearly causing an accident. My son denied this and then the ang mo pushed my son against the wall and strangled him while lifting him by the neck. My son was shocked and then the angmo took a picture of my son and threatened him. The attacker then rushed off but was stopped by the security. We called the police who is investigating the matter. We managed to take a picture of the assailant. Regards Mdm RD
  20. I've never been to the new universal studios at sentosa, and have a couple of questions to ask. Is there such a thing as just paying the entrance fee, go in look-see? Then the rides pay extra? Or buying an entrance ticket includes some rides as well? Best time to go? I heard there's a certain time that they allow people to go in and look-see... Thanks for the tips. Lazy to surf through their website info, and this forum is so informative and throws up some nuggets of 'insider' info sometimes

  23. Preston with his Ferrari 458. He left the key with valets at RWS while having supper there and returned to find the car missing. -- ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG In the early hours of last Tuesday, two valets at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) were entrusted with the key to a Ferrari 458. Instead of safeguarding it, they used it to take the $1 million sports car for a joyride across Sentosa that lasted over an hour. Their alleged misdeed was exposed when the owner, a 61-year-old retiree, checked the footage on his in-car camera. Outraged by the incident, he has since filed a police report and issued a letter of demand to RWS through lawyer Chia Boon Teck.
