  1. I don't even know which is worse - the fact that the cyclist caused the collision or that he didn't check on the rider after the crash. In a video posted on Facebook just yesterday (29 March), an accident along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 shocks several netizens. In the video, the cam car driver merges towards the middle lane in the darkness of the morning hours. Despite it being a little after 6 in the morning, the dark roads were illuminated by streetlights and the cam car's headlights. Just up ahead, a cyclist on the outermost lane notices the cam car's presence and starts switching lanes. With his bicycle dancing between lanes, it became clear that the cyclist had recklessly switched lanes without checking. At this moment, a motorcycle travelling in the same lane came into view. Due to the cyclist's sudden lane change, the rider did not have enough time to react accordingly, resulting in a rather nasty collision. The impact threw the cyclist off his bicycle while the heavy motorcycle flew across the road. With his path blocked, the cam car slows down and stops beside the cyclist, who immediately stands up with his helmet and bag still intact and attached to his body. After dusting himself off, he gingerly walks to his mauled ride. While attempting to pick it up, the cyclist blocks the path of an oncoming white van. On the other hand, after being thrown off his own vehicle, the rider sits up as he surveys his surroundings. While it is not clear if there were any serious injuries, the rider remains seated for the rest of the video. Netizens' reactions The video shocked many netizens, most of whom could not believe that the cyclist did not check on the potentially injured rider after causing the reckless accident. Yes, there is a difference between making a little mistake and causing an accident that might kill you and others. Note: This comment was in response to the post's description, which reads "Careless cyclist did not check clear, filtered towards first lane and got hit by motorcyclist. Accident happened at Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 (Beside Gain City) at 0640H on 29 Mar 2022. Speedy recovery to both parties.". Even if the cyclist was in a state of shock, it is just disappointing to see this behaviour from him. Where did all of his compassion and empathy go? Although I don't subscribe to the feud between drivers and cyclists, I have to admit that this incident reflects the inadequacy of cyclists to ride safely on the road. Having strict regulations is not the answer when cyclists defy the rules that lay the foundation for a safe and peaceful drive. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. A cam car driver experiences a driver's worst nightmare and learns the importance of investing in a good dashcam the hard way. Just yesterday (March 24), the cam car driver was travelling along the KPE. A motorcyclist suddenly dashes past on his right in an attempt to lane split. Unlike most riders who lane split without any problems, this attempt ends in the rider breaking off the cam car's right-side mirror. Pieces of the mirror flew like confetti as the rider sped up and rode away, staying dangerously close to the vehicles in front. Driver unable to identify rider Due to the shoddy quality dashcam footage, the driver could not identify the motorcyclist. While most drivers can attest to having a good dashcam, some have felt that splurging on such a device is unnecessary. However, there are benefits to having a dashcam that produces top-notch footage. With better-quality footage, drivers can identify the parties involved in the case of an accident. It helps ease the insurance claiming process and protects the driver from fraud. Although picking a good dashcam can be an arduous process, there are several criteria that drivers should look out for when buying a dashcam. If you're in the market for a better dashcam, here is a list of the top dashcams used by drivers in Singapore. Netizens' reactions Most netizens chastised the rider for his amateur lane-splitting skills and sympathised with the unlucky cam driver, while some pointed out the less-than-optimal quality of the footage. He probably watched a video of someone doing it once on YouTube and thought "I can do it too!". How to revoke when you can't even see the plate? Yes, exactly, why? Hopefully after seeing this article, the cam driver will go and buy himself a better dashcam! ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. It’s hard to pinpoint who is at the greater fault for this incident. A cam driver captures the moment when a Grabfood rider blindly tailgates behind an equally blind BMW 320i driver – and it does not end well for either of them. On Tuesday (15 March) evening, the cam car cruised down a road in Boon Lay Way behind the red BMW 320i. The Grabfood rider rode on the next lane beside both vehicles. Upon reaching the junction, the driver signaled early to other motorists that he was intending to make a right turn. The rider noticed the junction up ahead and signaled right to make his turn. He swiftly merged into the rightmost lane, sandwiching himself between the cam car and the BMW 320i. As the green light switched to amber, the rider slowed his pace to match the red car in front of him. The driver, however, didn’t notice the switch in lights just yet and crossed the white stop line, entering the junction. At this point, the BMW driver realised that the lights were not a bright green and immediately stepped on his brakes (even though he already was in the yellow turning box). The rider assumed that the driver would continue to make his turn and did not anticipate this move, resulting in him rear-ending the red car and falling to the ground. Can I continue driving after crossing the stop line at an amber light? While it is common knowledge that drivers are to slow down and stop at a junction when they notice an amber traffic light, this does not apply to drivers who had already crossed the stop line. According to the Highway Code, motorists are allowed to continue driving if they happen to cross the stop line as the lights turned amber. If stopping might cause a collision, motorists should continue into the junction to protect the safety of other drivers. So the short answer is, yes! Netizens’ reactions Most netizens quickly took to the comments to criticise the driver for unnecessarily stopping after he had already crossed the stop line. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. After this incident, the rider should re-enroll himself for a few more courses at the driving school. A video of a motorbike rider crashing face-first into a turning lorry has gotten the attention of netizens online. Posted on Facebook yesterday (17 March), the lorry driver paired the video with a simple caption: 'Never beat the traffic lights, especially if you are riding a bike, the impact will be greater.' The short clip features the cam driver riding down a bend before arriving at a traffic junction. Intending to make a right turn, the driver properly aligned himself with the correct lane. Upon noticing the green turning arrow, the cam driver made his turn. At this moment, the motorcyclist enters the scene as he confidently travels straight through the junction. Realising that the rider had beat the red light, the driver immediately stepped on his brakes and honked loudly. Instead of swerving like most riders do, the motorcyclist slams head-first into the large vehicle, creating a large splintered crack on the windscreen. Now that will definitely leave a nasty mark! Netizens' reactions Most netizens quickly sided with the cam driver, agreeing that the rider should not have recklessly beaten the red light. Yeah, I wonder what was going through his mind. Agreed! If you intend to disobey traffic rules, you should be prepared to face (literally) any and all consequences. Can you imagine if the driver didn't have a good camera installed? The horror of dealing with insurance claims without solid video evidence is not something that I would want to go through. In all seriousness, I am genuinely confused as to why the rider didn't swerve his bike. Did he already give up the moment he saw the lorry? Or does he not know how to do it? Isn't swerving from danger one of the first few things you learn as a motorcycle rider? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. This motorcyclist shows us why it’s important to always keep your eyes on the road! In this video, a seemingly distracted motorcyclist follows closely behind a white Renault Fluence as the pair navigates through roads filled with busy roadworks. Throughout the entire video, the motorcyclist could be seen tilting his head up and down multiple times. Upon approaching an underground tunnel entrance, the white PHV slows down to join the long queue of vehicles waiting to enter. However, the distracted rider fails to anticipate this sudden change and ends up rear-ending the Renault. The impact force forces the motorcycle to flip forward, throwing the rider down onto the road face-first. With his feet against the car, the rider manages to lift his motorcycle off of himself. He walks to the side of the road and removes his helmet, revealing broken pieces inside. Concerned, the driver of the white Renault and the cam car alight from their cars to check on the rider’s condition. Netizens’ reactions While we may never know for sure if the rider was looking at his phone, the number of times he kept looking down was suspicious. He can represent SG at the next Olympic games. #motorcyclistforparis2024 Indeed! Kudos to both drivers for immediately checking on the motorcyclist! Hope he is alright! ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. Does this mean that this driver can’t drive through noisy areas? In a video published on 28th Feb, a Hyundai driver with his head in the clouds attempted to change lanes on the expressway. The cam driver, situated at Lane 1, was cruising along the road when she noticed the blue vehicle’s actions. Wanting to alert the Hyundai driver of her presence, she sounded her horn. This spooked the unalert driver, who sharply swerved to avoid a collision. His reaction reminds me of a chinchilla, a species that is easily spooked by anything and everything. However, as the driver had oversteered, this caused him to lose control of his car. The blue vehicle then hit the front of the cam car as it quickly slid towards the expressway barrier. This led to the Hyundai driver quickly shifting gears and reversing to avoid a second collision. The Hyundai’s sudden stunt scared other drivers on the rest of the lanes, all of whom narrowly avoided getting hit. As the blue Hyundai manages to stop his vehicle in the middle of the first and second lanes, the cam driver could be heard wailing loudly after being hit. Netizens’ reactions I agree that there should be a balance. While the Hyundai driver should have been more alert, the cam driver should have been prepared to anticipate a potential collision and acted accordingly. There is no way an alert driver would make a mistake like this (although that second swerve to avoid the barrier was pretty cool). It takes a certain skill level to pull something like that off. ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. A white Jaguar F-PACE miscalculates camcar's actions and switches lanes too early, resulting in an unexpected hit-and-run. The video starts with the camcar and several other vehicles patiently waiting for the green light at the junction between Bukit Timah and Kheam Hock Road. Upon the appearance of the green light, all cars start to move off, with the Honda Jazz in front of the camcar making a right turn. It is at this moment that the white Jaguar F-PACE decides to filter to the right lane, as the driver assumes that the camcar would be making a right turn as well instead of going straight ahead. This results in a pretty nasty hit between both vehicles. Unlike the fierceness of the vehicle's name, the Jaguar driver immediately increases his speed and runs away after the hit. Do you see the resemblance? The location of the accident While most would agree that the Jaguar F-PACE was being too 'kan chiong' in his judgement, some questioned if the camcar was in a right-turn only lane. Upon further research, here is a quick screengrab of the location. According to the video, the camcar was in Lane 1, which is a lane where vehicles can turn right or go straight ahead, while the Jaguar was in the middle lane. Netizens' reactions It's so sad that this is the reality when it comes to dealing with rich and arrogant drivers. 😞 Oof, if only the Jaguar driver would have thought to slow down and check his mirrors before filtering. TBH, it is easy to prevent an accident like this from happening if the Jaguar driver is alert and did the proper checks before switching lanes. However, the way he ran off afterwards is simply a cowardly action - it's not like he does not have the money to settle the damages (judging from his vehicle). I hope the camcar can catch this driver and receive the proper payout he deserves! ---------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 8. Whoever taught this driver how to drive, what do you have to say now? 😥 There is definitely no way that this is being taught at driving schools. The video starts with a camcar driving along a junction at Geylang Road in the second lane. Intending to go straight after the junction, the driver slowly continues when all of a sudden, a grey car pops out and attempts a right turn. TBH the way he just slides across the junction kind of reminds me of this: A playback of the video shows that the grey vehicle is traveling along the fourth lane of the road. Upon reaching the junction, the driver realizes that he didn't form up properly to make a right turn. Not wanting to miss his turn, he slides across four lanes to make a reckless right turn right in front of our camcar driver. Luckily for him, the camcar quickly notices the vehicle's intentions and slows down. The video ends with a statement from the camcar driver, berating the other driver's selfish actions. Honestly, what is the driver thinking by sliding across so many lanes in such a short amount of time? Is it worth being so reckless and endangering the safety of others just to make a turn? Netizens' reactions Exactly! Missing a right turn is not the end of the world and yet, this driver is willing to risk it all just to have his own way. 🙄 Legit everything goes.. 🙄 If I were the camcar driver, I would be calling and reporting this to the TP the second it happened. However, as I was viewing the footage, I realise that it is fairly difficult to identify the license plate of the grey car, no matter how slowly the video was played back. Hopefully, the camcar driver is able to get a better look and bring this reckless driver to justice! ---------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 9. The driver of this Mitsubishi Lancer must be kicking himself right now. I don't like to judge the way that other people drive their vehicles, but when it comes to drivers not exhibiting the most basic fundamentals of driving, it's hard to bite my tongue. In the video, the camcar is carefully driving down the SLE expressway along Woodlands Avenue 12 due to the wet weather. Upon reaching the expressway exit, the driver slows down after he notices the white Audi station wagon doing so as well. All of a sudden, a Mitsubishi Lancer appears out of the blue from the right at an increasingly high speed. Due to the driver's lack of foresight, the car ends up skidding on the wet road and briefly clips the camcar and the white Audi. The driver tries to stay in his lane and ends up hitting the back of a black Toyota Vezel. The force of the impact results in the Vezel hitting the back of a Toyota Altis as well. All in all, 4 vehicles were damaged by the Lancer, with the camcar and the Audi only suffering a few dents. I'm not sure how experienced he is, but I'm pretty sure the Lancer driver can kiss his No Claim Discount (NCD) goodbye after this accident. What is NCD? No Claim Discount (NCD) or No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount on a driver's car insurance premium based on how long he has been driving and his existing claims record. As drivers accumulate more years of driving without making a claim, they would be entitled to a discount on the yearly premiums. Given that the driver has been insured with the same company for the past 12 months and does not have any accidents reported or made any claims under his own policy, a cumulative discount will apply whenever he renews his policy with the insurance company. An example of this would be: So if a driver has been accident-free for 5 or more years, he would be entitled to a 50% discount on his yearly premiums. That's a huge discount right there! Unfortunately, the moment a driver gets into an accident, the discount is removed and the premiums for the next year will definitely rise. What if the driver was under the influence of alcohol? If the driver is found to be under the influence by the police, the insurance company will not be paying a single cent. This would mean that all of the repair costs will be paid from the driver's own pocket, which might land him in hot water if he is unable to afford it. Netizens' reactions Yep, that's right! Also, isn't it common sense to slow down around bends? This is why we listen during our theory lessons - to avoid making idiotic mistakes like this. I think our Lancer driver might have to ransack his house to pay off his high premiums! 🤣 Moral of the story: Don't be a hero and slow down around bends! -------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 10. So I wrote a post about this hit-and-run incident recently, and it got me thinking about how other drivers would handle a hit-and-run situation. Of course, I have never gotten into a hit-and-run before as a driver (and I don't intend to for a long long time) but I do have an iconic experience that I would never forget. Note: This happened when I was in secondary school. My dad was driving me home from school one day (I was in the passenger seat) when we stopped at a junction along Bukit Timah Road (because it was a red light). All of a sudden, we were rear-ended by a rental car and the impact was strong enough that I jerked forward in my seat. Anyways, the junction was near a petrol station so my dad signalled for the guy to stop ahead to settle the damages and everything. We thought things would go smoothly bUT IT DIDN'T BECAUSE THE GUY IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED LANES AND DROVE OFF. 😠 I don't remember exactly what had happened afterwards but I do remember sitting at the side of the petrol station and waiting for a tow truck to come and bring my dad's car to the repair shop. At the end of the day, my dad had to pay off a large repair fee since the back was mostly smooshed in but I never got to know if we caught the guy or not (or if he even got to make an insurance claim for this incident). Nevertheless, it was pretty memorable for me. Do you have an iconic hit-and-run story? I would love to hear it! ☺️
  11. This Honda road bully blocks the path of a large bus, randomly stops in the middle of the road several times and ends up getting rear-ended. There is nothing more annoying than a road hogger on a busy road, and that is what this poor bus driver had to experience. The video starts with the Honda driving slowly down the left lane, blocking the path of the bus driver. Annoyed with the car's behaviour, a man beside the driver is heard commenting "Just don't jam brakes. If not, I fall down leh.". As both vehicles approach the traffic junction, the car suddenly stops with its hazard lights on. In an attempt to warn the car's driver, the bus driver presses his horn. However, the car remains still, which earns it a series of honks from other upset drivers as well. The bus driver chimes in with two long honks, which pushes the car to finally move off. The Honda enters the junction, swerves right, before switching back to the left lane quickly. At the same moment, the car is seen braking suddenly as the bus moves forward. This leads to the bus hitting the yellow car from the back with a loud crash, which pushes it further up the lane. At the last second, the car's driver angrily gets out of his vehicle to confront the bus driver. Is road hogging an offence? According to the LTA and the Traffic Police, road hogging is considered an offence in Singapore. Drivers who drive in such a manner as to obstruct vehicles from moving at a faster speed will receive a fine of up to $1,000, an imprisonment term of 3 months and 4 demerit points. For repeated offenders, they will receive a fine of up to $2,000, an imprisonment term of 6 months and 4 demerit points. Netizens' reactions From the video, it is clear that the yellow car is the aggressor as the driver purposely stalls the flow of traffic and recklessly changes lanes (and jams on his brakes) without any warning. 😒 I hope that the TP sees this and invites him for a nice long kopi session soon. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 12. Urban myth As drivers, we all have heard of the myth that the police will always penalise the driver for knocking down a cyclist (or pedestrians too) - even if they don't look out for traffic. It's common beliefs like this that make drivers extremely anxious when they encounter run-ins with cyclists. However, one fellow driver proved this belief wrong as he shared his experience after getting in an accident with a cyclist. According to the Facebook post by Jacky Ang, he was driving out of a carpark in Ang Mo Kio in July when a cyclist appeared unexpectedly. Not wanting to hit the cyclist, Mr Ang stepped on his brakes. After seeing the cyclist fall in front of his vehicle, he stepped out of his car and offered to help. The day after The day after this incident, Mr Ang said that he had contacted the cyclist and offered to send him to the clinic for his injuries. However, the cyclist rejected his offer. A few days later, the cyclist sent Mr Ang a message wanting to claim his car insurance for his medical bills. Luckily for him, Mr Ang had already made a police report on the day of the accident. In the end After conducting initial investigations, the Singapore Traffic Police told Mr Ang that they will be charging the cyclist for failing to stop and look out for oncoming traffic. Relieved, Mr Ang posted about his experience online, encouraging other drivers to not be afraid of placing a police report for road incidents. Netizens’ reactions Mr Ang's post quickly went viral with netizens, who took to the comments to share about their own experiences as well. Drivers (and cyclists) can learn a valuable lesson from Mr Ang's experience - Do not be afraid of lodging a police report if you ever find yourself in a similar situation. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 13. Another day, another joker on the road getting what he deserves for his reckless driving. What happened In the wee hours of the morning, a Mazda 3 driver is seen driving down Admiralty Road right beside a large garbage truck. Wanting to filter to his right, the car flashes its right indicator lights to signal its intention. This is when things start to go horribly wrong. Instead of letting the truck pass, the Mazda driver fails to check for safety and starts to drift to the right. The weird thing about his behaviour is that he actually slows down right in front of the large truck as his vehicle performs the lane change. As a result, the car ends up getting hit in the rear by the garbage truck and continues along the road for a while before coming to a stop. It is unclear if the Mazda driver had hit the brakes on purpose or by accident. Additionally, the fact that the Mazda kept going after getting hit could mean that the driver did not realise that he had been hit. A great example of why all drivers die die must have insurance It is important to note that the Mazda 3 driver carries a P plate, which is a probationary license plate that should be put on display at the top-right portion of the front and back windscreens of new drivers. The plate can be taken down after a year of valid driving experience. As such, it is critical that all drivers, especially P-platers, have insurance in case of accidents like this. Annual premiums for car insurance typically start at $850, and the amount that you pay is determined by your age, your occupation, the amount of driving experience you have, your car model, and your claims history. For P platers and drivers below the age of 27, car premiums are through the roof as insurers deem these drivers to possess a higher level of risk of getting into accidents. Netizens' reactions P-platers, no matter the situation, there is no reason good enough to justify driving and switching lanes recklessly. 14. Everyone knows that skidding is a common problem for drivers, and I'm sure some have even experienced it at one point throughout their driving experience. As someone who has never had that problem yet (and I don't wish to), I'm not really sure what to do if my car were to ever skid. Do I steer away from the direction and pump the brakes or do I pray to God that I won't get to meet him so soon? Any tips on this? 😥 And also, I know that SG is probably filled with a lot of potential skidding hotspots. Are there any infamous areas that I should take note of? 👀 P.S. 15. Road rage incidents in Singapore has hit a new low with this uncle and angrily ripping off the windshield wiper of the vehicle that impeded his van from exiting a parallel parking lot with ease. I don’t know about you but there is something about the way that this uncle expresses his anger that makes me chuckle. The way that he rips off a windshield wiper before attempting to leave in his van is super comedic and entertaining. By looking at the footage, it seems that the cam car might have trapped his van in the parallel parking lot. However, after the uncle goals all "HULK SMASH" on the wiper, the van managed to leave the lot albeit after a 1001-point turn. Netizens’ reactions Honestly, all this unnecessary drama might earn the uncle a kopi session with the TP. Nervous much?
  16. I'm pretty sure that most of us have heard of the news of the flash fire explosion that happened yesterday (Aug 24) near a Bukit Batok MSCP. Purely out of curiosity, how often do flash fires like this occur in reality? I have never witnessed something like this before, but I would like to get your opinions on it. Is this a rather common phenomenon in SG? 😮
  17. A dump (or dumb) truck travelling on the expressway veers off its lane and ends up clipping a black Toyota Corolla, causing it to lose control and crash. This incident occurred last Friday (Aug 13). In the video, we see a huge yellow truck travelling on the SLE expressway while a black Toyota Corolla is travelling on the left of the truck. As both vehicles enter a bend, the dump truck veers out of its lane to keep left, only for it to end up hitting the side of the Black Corolla. It appears that the Corolla might have been in the truck driver's blind spot, which would explain the heavy vehicle's sudden movement to the left despite the car's presence. The car then swerves to the left, hitting the road barrier, before swerving back onto its own lane. Upon impact with the Toyota Corolla, the truck kept to its right as it follows the black vehicle to a clear spot ahead. Netizens' reactions While most drivers know that it is dangerous to linger or slow down when you're driving in someone's blind spot, the black Toyota Corolla could not speed up due to the lorries in front of it (and the fact that it is entering a bend as well). However, an incident like this is completely avoidable if the truck driver pays more attention to his blind spots while driving and not assume that the road beside him is clear when it isn't. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 18. Is this a supernatural incident or a case of mere coincidence? The incident occurred last Wednesday (Aug 11) at New Upper Changi Road. In the video, the driver was chatting with his passenger about the potential accident hotspots in the area. The passenger listed several places around the estate, including the exit that they were heading for. She claimed that drivers tend to neglect their safety checks and blind spots as they leave, which resulted in them mowing down cyclists. The driver laughed and asked, “How can you only check one side? You have to check both sides before you drive off.” The passenger clarified her statement by adding that the cyclist might appear from the left while the driver checks for traffic flow on the right. Most of the time, the driver might not even perform a second safety check when the busy road is clear. As this conversation was taking place, a white Nissan Sylphy infront of the camcar was waiting for an opportunity to enter the busy main road. A few seconds later, a cyclist appeared on the left and stopped right beside the vehicle. Assuming that the Sylphy had noticed the cyclist, the camcar driver motioned towards it and said, “It’s the same in front.” To both the driver and passenger’s horror, the Sylphy continued to turn left, which led to it knocking the cyclist over. The passenger quickly urged the driver to help, who responded with, “How to help him?”. Eventually, he descended the car and helped the cyclist, who was arguing with the driver of the white Sylphy. The video ended with the driver of the white Sylphy getting back into his vehicle while the injured cyclist sat on the road. Netizens’ reactions Is anyone a little spooked out? 19. The new month had just barely started (it's only the third day of August!) and we already have three incidents of vehicles being flipped on their sides. 1: Truck flipped over after an accident on Shenton Way While the details of the accident are still unknown, it appeared that the refrigerator truck or chiller lorry had collided with a second lorry before toppling over. From the lorry's position in the video, it was assumed that both vehicles either tried to turn left into the junction or the chiller lorry was travelling straight before it hit the lorry, which was turning left. An ambulance and multiple fire engines could be seen in the video as well, and we hope that all parties involved are alright. 2: Van flipped over after a collision on Geylang Road An accident on Sunday (Aug 1) left a second van toppled over in the junction between Geylang Road and Sims Way. From the video, a Silvercab was seen attempting to make a right turn at the junction when the white van (which was travelling at a high speed and was not on the right turn lane) made a reckless turn at the same time. This resulted in the van tipping over from the force of the impact. It was very obvious in the video that the white van was in the wrong and that the driver's reckless behaviour had put the lives of others (and his) at risk. Is it really that hard to follow the traffic rules? He wasn't even in the right lane to begin with. 3: Van flipped over after speeding accident on PIE On the same day (Aug 1), another black van had flipped over after being involved in an accident along the expressway towards Tuas. Like the first incident, there were not much details on what had exactly happened during the incident. However, netizens believed that the vehicle might have been speeding down the road and failed to stop in time before colliding with a second vehicle. Netizens' reactions TBH, what exactly are these vehicles made of? Even if the centre of gravity for these vehicles is higher, it shouldn't be that easy to flip a van or a lorry after a collision. It's scary to know that our vehicles are not as indestructible as we think they are. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 20. The spotlight is on an Isuzu truck driver who has been called out for reckless driving and causing multiple accidents in just ONE MONTH! Incident 1 The first incident occurred on June 2, where the truck attempted to overtake another tipper truck on the TPE. In the first half of the video, you'll notice the truck following the second truck in the middle lane of the expressway. After half a minute, the truck driver gets impatient and dangerously shifts to Lane 1 to overtake the tipper truck that was impeding his path. The second tipper truck swerves slightly to its left and almost collides with a third truck travelling on the left-most lane. The Isuzu truck had already exceeded the speed limit of 60 km/h. Incident 2 The second incident occurred on July 31 at Changi Village Road. A cyclist was cycling on the left side of the road when the truck dangerously passed by him, squeezing him off the road. Luckily, the cyclist managed to end up on the curb instead of underneath the truck. The truck failed to adhere to the 1.5m spacing between vehicles and cyclists. Thankfully, the cyclist managed to sustain minor superficial injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment immediately. The impact damaged the bicycle as well. Netizens’ reactions TBH, there should be stricter rules surrounding the use of heavy vehicles on the road. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 21. So I wrote this blog post on 3 vehicles flipping over this past week after getting into different accidents (go check it out if you haven't). Anyways, I was wondering why is so easy for these vehicles to flip over upon impact? 🤨 It's quite scary to know that it doesn't take much for such a heavy vehicle to topple over after impact. >< Any thoughts/opinions on it? Also, is this a case of recklessness from heavy vehicle drivers or is there something more to it? 😱😲
  22. An Audi A4 was seen recklessly cutting 2 lanes along Upper Bukit Timah Road on Wednesday (June 23), which resulted in the vehicle hitting a FoodPanda rider. According to the video, the black Audi A4 was cruising on the right of the camcar when it suddenly swerved towards the left, almost hitting a white Toyota van in the middle of the road. Upon collision, the FoodPanda rider and his motorcycle flew for a short distance before landing in front of a petrol station. It has been speculated by the video's description that the driver of the Audi A4 might have wanted to turn left but failed to form up in time, which resulted in the sudden swerve towards the left. Netizens' reactions Many netizens were upset with the reckless driving behaviour of the Audi A4, which could have prevented the accident if the driver had properly planned his route and was more aware of his surroundings. While we are unsure of the FoodPanda rider's condition at the moment, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope that all drivers will pay more attention when they're on the roads. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car.
