  1. Started using Shopee a few months back and find this platform useful. Pros 1, Shopee prices are competitive 2. Option of self collection for some sellers Cons 1. Menu and search function takes some getting used to. Official stores on Shopee include : - Colgate - Unilever - Reckitt Benckiser (RB) - Spigen - SanDisk - Asus - Western Digital - Jabra - Chope - MamyPoko - Johnson's Baby - Kleenex - Blackmores - Nestle - Ayam Brand - New Moon - Omron - Brand's - GoPro - Huggies Overall range of products is probably not as extensive as Qoo10 or Lazada, but its got most of the stuff I need. Enjoy.
  2. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/companies-markets/shopee-cuts-singapore-jobs-in-regional-layoffs-says-affected-staff-will-get-appropriate-compensation-packages SINGAPORE - Employees affected by e-commerce platform Shopee's latest round of job cuts will be given "appropriate compensation packages" in line with market norms, the firm said in a joint statement with the Creative Media and Publishing Union (CMPU) on Monday. This comes as some staff in Singapore were informed that they were part of further layoffs on Monday. The Straits Times understands that a low single-digit percentage of Shopee workers are affected, although it is not clear how many of the platform's regional markets will be hit in this latest cost-cutting exercise. Shopee's layoffs include employees in human resources, regional operations, marketing, and product and engineering, The Business Times reported on Monday. It also cited sources saying that some workers, including those in Singapore and China, began receiving e-mail notices of their layoffs shortly after department-wide town halls on Monday. Shopee, the e-commerce arm of New York Stock Exchange-listed Sea, had earlier this year cut workers in its ShopeeFood and ShopeePay teams in the region. Its parent company has been undertaking extensive cost-cutting measures in recent months, with questions over its money-making prospects intensifying amid the challenging global environment and widespread decline in technology stocks. Maybe they shouldn't have splurged on such extravagance. 😶
  3. Yes, ALOT is happening in this video, and the title speaks for itself. NGL, I am actually surprised I managed to summarise the entire video within the title itself. Watch it here: What Happened? After entering the AYE, a Honda HRV driver decided to perform something bizarre - he changed lane into a red Lexus ES not once but TWICE, despite having empty pockets of space to switch lanes into. During the second bump, the Lexus ES was forced into lane 2 of the AYE, causing it to cut off a Shopee Xpress van. As a result, the Shopee Xpress van had to brake hard to avoid rear-ending the Lexus ES. However, a motorcyclist riding behind the van could not react in time and smashed into the van, resulting in the motorcyclist flipping over. Idk about you, but the Honda HRV driver ought to be handed some heavy consequences for his actions. It is as clear as daylight that the Honda HRV driver did not bother checking his blindspot before changing lanes at the very last minute, which caused the accidents. Netizens' Comments Likely, the Honda HRV didn't even know about the presence of the red Lexus because he didn't bother turning his head to check his blindspot. I might be wrong, but it seems like the Honda HRV performed a hit and run after side swiping the red Lexus ES twice.... Wishing the rider a speedy recovery!! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. Source: https://mustsharenews.com/shopee-retrench-southeast-asia/ Shopee To Reportedly Retrench Staff In Southeast Asia To Optimise Operations Throughout the pandemic, many tech firms have gone on hiring sprees with some companies even paying top dollar for talented individuals. However, as the global economic situation becomes more uncertain, it seems some firms will be scaling back. According to multiple reports, a memo from Shopee’s chief executive Chris Feng states that the company will be making “adjustments” to optimise its operations. This comes just months after Shopee pulled out of the French and Indian markets earlier in March. While it’s unclear how many staff members will be laid off and in which countries, Shopee has shared that they will do their “very best” to support the affected workers. Shopee to retrench workers but provide support after According to The Straits Times (ST), Mr Feng sent an internal memo on Monday (13 Jun) announcing that Shopee is laying off workers in its ShopeeFood and ShopeePay teams in Southeast Asia. Teams in other countries like Chile, Argentina, and Mexico will also be affected, as will a cross-border team supporting the Spanish market. Mr Feng said, Although the retrenchments will come soon, Mr Feng reiterated that it will be business as usual. The memo reportedly does not state which Southeast Asian countries the layoffs will affect. ST notes that Shopee has outposts in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. Its regional headquarters are located in Singapore. Since such a major restructure would undoubtedly impact many families, Mr Feng added that the company will do “the very best” they can to support the staff they let go. MS News has reached out to Shopee for comments and will update the article when they get back. Hopefully, retrenchment numbers are lower than anticipated After going on a hiring spree during the pandemic, it looks like many tech companies are starting to cut jobs instead. Hopefully, not too many Shopee employees will lose their jobs. Additionally, we hope the affected workers will be able to get the necessary support and find new work in no time.
  5. Shopee’s delivery staff caught throwing parcels on netizen’s front yard. While the delivery guy is wrong, if this happens to only one particular person and not the rest of shopee customers in the same area, then i choose to believe that the person is the cause of the problem. I do see delivery persons pressing the doorbell on and on but no one to answer the call , making phone call also getting no one picking up his call. Imagine the guy has so many trips to make, if everyone is so inconsiderate, how is he going to make his living ? Of course, in some cases it is a delivery's problem but lets hear facts from both ends. Fortunately, i have been receiving good delivery service from all internet shopping platform. A lot of times it takes both hands to clap in life. https://theindependent.sg/shopees-delivery-staff-caught-throwing-parcels-on-netizens-front-yard/
  6. Source: https://mustsharenews.com/ex-shopee-employees/ Ex-Shopee Employee’s Glassdoor Review Shared On Facebook With the mega sale season upon us, many of us have taken advantage of the discounts on platforms like Shopee to purchase products that we’ve been eyeing. Recently, however, it seems Shopee has also been in the limelight for the wrong reasons. Earlier this week, Wake Up, Singapore published a compilation of accounts and glassdoor reviews from ex-Shopee employees. Most of the reviews were scathing and revolved around themes such as sexism, discrimination, and toxic work culture. In response to the allegations, Shopee published a statement stating that the company will be looking into these allegations. Shopee also reiterates its commitment to providing a safe workplace for its employees. Reviews from ex-Shopee employees revolve around similar themes On 25 Nov, the Wake Up, Singapore Facebook page shared a compilation of Glassdoor reviews apparently from ex-Shopee Employees. The reviews were all rather scathing, with many of them revolving around similar themes. These issues include sexism, discrimination, unprofessionalism, and toxic working culture. Interestingly, many of these reviews also listed “high compensation” as one of the pros while working at Shopee. However, they did include a disclaimer that this comes at the expense of employees’ personal time and health. One review highlighted hiring manager’s discrimination during interview One of the reviews was particularly scathing, as the reviewer claimed the hiring manager present at the interview he attended was extremely unprofessional. The hiring manager allegedly brought up the interviewee’s race and used it as a yardstick to measure his potential. At one point, the manager allegedly said “… historically speaking “your kind” is the least performing race in Shopee …”. The review ends with the reviewer providing a stark reminder that if this was the level of professionalism at the point of recruitment, one can only imagine the possible standards junior employees are subjected to after they join the company. Business developer at Shopee inhibited sexist tendencies An anonymous testimony was also shared by Wake Up, Singapore Facebook page on 26 Nov. This submission tells of a business developer in the company who constantly inhibited sexist tendencies. On occasions, he referred to female subordinates as “slaves” and would regularly comment on their bodies. The allegation also described the business developer to have stalked female candidates after interviews and would regularly get male staff in the office to comment on their appearances. Shopee issues statement on Instagram In response to the allegations compiled in the post, Shopee Singapore issued a statement on Instagram on Friday (26 Nov). In the statement, Shopee says they take the allegations very seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. They reiterate that they are committed to providing a safe workplace for all their employees. Hope Shopee get to the bottom of allegations Workplace harassment is a serious concern that needs to be brought up more in the workforce. As power dynamics and politics come into play, companies should do more and open up channels for employees to air their grievances privately. We hope Shopee will get to the bottom of these allegations — after all, it’s likely no coincidence that the reviews share common themes.
  7. After all the 11.11 hype and the collecting of vouchers, I'm stuck at completing my order because their credit card transaction crashed due to high volume. What a bummer. There goes my Prism TV. I'm close to saying LAZADA YOU SUCK but then at the back of my head there's a voice telling me, don't say that, sgCarMart crashed for nearly three days just few months back. That was SPH's doing but I guess we're one entity right. 😶
