  1. TL:DR – SMRT taxi abruptly stops on lane 1 of an expressway for reasons unknown and causes a massive chain collision in its wake before driving off, oblivious to the destruction it caused behind. There are idiot drivers everywhere Our latest example drives a SMRT taxi. Watch the video below to find out why. Here’s the rear-view camera footage The SMRT taxi abruptly stops just before an ERP gantry on lane 1. The alert cam car driver comes to a complete stop as well. One or two cars manage to avoid crashing into cam car by quickly changing to lane 2 before the chain collision occurs. Only Asian cars involved Besides the cam car (which I cannot identify), there’s a Mazda 3. A Toyota Altis. Or what looks like a Toyota Altis. (It became a hatchback after the crash). And of course, the unsuspecting Honda Fit (poor fella) that crashed into the Altis, causing the chain collision. Facebook Post by driver of Cam Car Online Chatter Upon exploring the comments, we managed to uncover a bit more about the incident. The cam car driver took the time to reply most of the comments. Maybe the taxi driver didn't notice what was happening behind him? He's still an idiot driver though. I needed to translate because my Chinese sucks. Yeah, this is the most likely scenario. If I’m not wrong, he’ll be claiming from the Mazda 3 driver and the Mazda 3 driver will claim from the Toyota Altis. Then the Altis will claim from the Honda Fit. But, what about the main culprit of this incident? The SMRT Taxi driver? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  2. TL;DR – BMW 216I nearly hits school children at a pedestrian crossing in a school zone after blatantly ignoring two traffic marshals. A 14-year-old boy whom a BMW had hit in Punggol passed away yesterday after 3-weeks in hospital. You would think some people would be more careful on the roads after such a tragedy. Not this driver (coincidentally, the culprit in question drives a BMW 216I). Watch this 50-second video to understand why some people are fuming mad with this driver What happened Everything you need to see occurs in the first 8-seconds of the video. There are not one but TWO traffic marshals on either side of the pedestrian crossing. They raise their hands (and blinky light thingy) to stop oncoming traffic as a couple of Bukit Timah Primary school kids attempt to cross the road. But the BMW driver doesn’t give a rat’s @%#. It just charges forward without hesitation. Here’s a gif (just in case) In case you missed out on the moment and you’re lazy to scroll back, here’s a gif! Online Chatter You can be certain that no one was kind to the BMW in the comments section. IZZIT?!!!! Why are they like that ah? Idiots. Idiots everywhere! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. TL;DR – A Toyota Vios gets smashed by a motorbike at an uncontrolled junction while attempting to turn right when there was another vehicle impeding its view. Back in your army days, if you had a platoon mate like this Vios driver, you probably would have ‘blanket party’ him for being a ‘sabo-king’. Watch the 42-second video to understand why. What happened? According to the caption of the video, this incident occurred in Clementi Ave 2, at 5pm+ yesterday. A motorcyclist overtakes cam car and accelerates ahead only to go head-to-head with a Toyota Vios attempting to make a right turn at the junction. Use your brain If there’s another vehicle obstructing your view, inch forward to see if there’s any oncoming traffic like normal people maybe? Who in the world ‘cheongs’ without looking? Damages look bad Damages to the motorbike aside, the Vios looks like it got banged up pretty badly too. Good luck with the insurance claims. Online Chatter Whoever thinks the motorcyclist is at fault, is blind. Hmm. Interesting. Yeah! What this person said! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. TL;DR – A Land Rover Defender bullies the cam car driver by tailgating, using illegal floodlights to blind the driver and hurling vulgarities when confronted. Who needs fog lights and high beams when you illegally install floodlights in your Land Rover Defender to bully people? A cam car driver was on the receiving end of some serious road bullying at around 6pm on 21st July 2022 at IMM shopping centre. Watch the 4-min ish video of the incident here: Unclear as to what happened prior The footage uploaded did not show what might have triggered the aggression from the Defender driver. But here’s a pretty detailed summary of what went down. Shine bright like a diamond There’s NO WAY those lights are legal. Anything that jeopardises the safety of other road users (in this case, blinding them with 1,000,000 kelvins of light) will not be LTA approved. Yes, it might look cool but installing them in Singapore (where there's no floods, hail, snow, fog) makes zero sense. Image from: Google Images\ Did you catch the ‘pai-seh’ moment? I don’t know whether you missed it, but after all that bullying, the Defender driver couldn’t even make a proper turn at the carpark. It had to do a little three-point-turn to evade scraping the walls. Online Chatter Here are a couple of award-winning comments. Some comments also mentioned the cam car might not be innocent after eliciting such a strong reaction from the Defender driver. While I don’t disagree, I believe we can all agree that the way the Defender driver handled it was inexplicably dumb. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. TL:DR – An impatient lorry driver tries to beat the red light at a cross junction but ends up t-boning and wrecking a Mercedes instead. A horrific accident happened earlier today (9th Feb) at 2.23pm at Choa Chu Kang. It could have all been avoided if the lorry driver had shown some patience. Here’s the video: Rekt Not going to go into too many details, but the lorry certainly did a number on the Mercedes. If it were a lighter car, like a Honda Fit for example, it would have been flung down the bridge. How’s the driver? There are no updates about the driver or the occupants of the Mercedes, but we hope everyone’s okay. Patience please? Is it too hard to ask people to have some patience when they drive? If the lorry driver had just waited for a minute or two, this could have all been avoided. Online Chatter Interesting theory. Might be true. Right? I agree. 6. TL:DR – The title says it all. The owner claims that he ended up paying the $6.52 in the end, and the accumulated fines were due to the inability to navigate slopes at the MSCP because of the GTR’s lowered stance. When you drive an eye-catching car like a Nissan GTR, you’d better be on your best behaviour on the roads. There are digital eyes everywhere! Trying to escape paying carpark fees is not an example of ‘best behaviour’. Here’s the video for a weekend laugh. Updates on SGRV While normal tailgating out of carpark videos can be mundane, this update piqued my interest. The fines Let’s have a look at the fines. HOW IN THE WORLD DOES ONE RACK UP SUCH AN INSANE AMOUNT OF PARKING FINES? The whole argument that “Home MSCP too steep” is also somewhat weak. Park at an open-air carpark maybe? Does this car look familiar? So, we did some searching for GTRs on sgCarMart like we do every day (just to drool over things we cannot afford) and we found this: Compare that with the GTR in the video. I'm sorry this was the best shot we could get.... it's lowered after all. Do you think the hood vents on the body kits look somewhat similar? If they are the one and the same, that’s defnitely a creative way to ‘siam’ the $4000+ parking fines. Online Chatter Zero logic. Absolutely zero. 7. Only someone as carefree as this cyclist would care about his plastic bags after getting hit by a motorcycle. The video starts with the cam car slowing down at a junction in Jurong West. As his car comes to a stop, he notices a cyclist ignoring the red-light signal and crossing the junction. At the same time, a motorcyclist enters from the right at a high speed. Unable to stop his bike or swerve to avoid him, the motorcyclist knocks over the cyclist and falls to the ground. Unfazed by the accident, the cyclist immediately rises and gathers the grocery bags that had fallen off his bicycle. The motorcyclist gets up soon after and dusts himself off. Weirdly enough, the cyclist's reaction to this accident reminds me of this gif of Jimmy Fallon. I don’t know if I should be shocked or relieved. On the one hand, I'm glad that both parties are not severely hurt, but on the other, what exactly is the cyclist thinking? No matter how empty a road might seem, it is never a good decision to run a red-light signal and assume that the road will stay clear for you. Netizens’ reactions I agree! However, no matter how strict we enforce our regulations, there are always that few individuals who would go above and beyond on the roads just to do things for their own convenience. 😂😂 As much as I hate additional fines, I do think the root of the problem is the fact that most road users think it's okay to jaywalk (or jaycycle) if they do it quickly and with the right timing. Cyclists (and other pedestrians) who insist on crossing these junctions under these circumstances will be found guilty of jaywalking/cycling and be fined up to $1,000 or jailed up to 3 months. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 8. Whoever taught this driver how to drive, what do you have to say now? 😥 There is definitely no way that this is being taught at driving schools. The video starts with a camcar driving along a junction at Geylang Road in the second lane. Intending to go straight after the junction, the driver slowly continues when all of a sudden, a grey car pops out and attempts a right turn. TBH the way he just slides across the junction kind of reminds me of this: A playback of the video shows that the grey vehicle is traveling along the fourth lane of the road. Upon reaching the junction, the driver realizes that he didn't form up properly to make a right turn. Not wanting to miss his turn, he slides across four lanes to make a reckless right turn right in front of our camcar driver. Luckily for him, the camcar quickly notices the vehicle's intentions and slows down. The video ends with a statement from the camcar driver, berating the other driver's selfish actions. Honestly, what is the driver thinking by sliding across so many lanes in such a short amount of time? Is it worth being so reckless and endangering the safety of others just to make a turn? Netizens' reactions Exactly! Missing a right turn is not the end of the world and yet, this driver is willing to risk it all just to have his own way. 🙄 Legit everything goes.. 🙄 If I were the camcar driver, I would be calling and reporting this to the TP the second it happened. However, as I was viewing the footage, I realise that it is fairly difficult to identify the license plate of the grey car, no matter how slowly the video was played back. Hopefully, the camcar driver is able to get a better look and bring this reckless driver to justice! ---------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 9. A cyclist spots a baby pangolin on his usual trip and carefully ushers it to safety in a heartwarming video. On Tuesday evening (July 27), a cyclist was cycling along a dual carriageway when he noticed the baby animal trying to cross the road. Fearing for its safety, he decided to protect the pangolin by gently guiding it towards the kerb. The cyclist mentioned that he had to stop several fast-moving vehicles from turning the animal into roadkill, which earned him a medley of impatient honks. However, he was concerned about the pangolin and ignored the incessantly loud noises while escorting it. The little one did not seem to be very stable as it slowly waddled down the road and tripped over a drain cover. Despite safely crossing two roads, the baby pangolin kept sticking to the roadside, forcing the cyclist to block its path with his bike so that it would climb up the kerb to safety. In the end, he had to use the rims of his bicycle to lift the baby from the kerb onto the grass patches when he realised that the pangolin was unable to climb on its own. The video ends with the baby pangolin happily waddling away into the night. This serotonin-boosting video certainly made my day, I'm glad that the pangolin got away unharmed. Kudos to the cyclist for helping it get to safety! What is a pangolin? According to the World Wildlife Fund, a pangolin, also known as a scaly anteater, is a primarily nocturnal mammal with a body full of scales. When startled, these animals will hide their heads and expose their scales to predators. If a predator touches their scales, the pangolin will roll up into a ball and use its tails to attack. The most common species of pangolin found in Singapore is the Sunda pangolin (Malayan pangolin) and is commonly found in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. It is also the animal on various Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) donation boxes throughout Singapore. In 2008, the Sunda pangolin was listed as 'critically endangered' in the Singapore Red Data Book. While its main threat is the loss of its habitat due to rapid urbanisation and roadkill, a huge number of pangolins are poached globally for their meat and scales, which are believed to have medicinal value. Due to its ability to only have 1 or 2 babies a year, the global pangolin population is unable to recover as quickly as it is depleting. In 2017, the Wildlife Reserves Singapore launched the Sunda Pangolin National Conservation Strategy and Action Plan in conjunction with the Singapore Pangolin Working Group to promote the conservation of the animal and protect it from going extinct. Netizens' reactions What to do if you encounter a live pangolin? While it is rare to observe a live pangolin in the busier areas of Singapore, it is not impossible as they tend to wander into residential areas from the forest. If you ever encounter a pangolin, follow these guidelines provided by the National Parks Board: 1. Do not be alarmed as pangolins are shy animals and do not attack humans. 2. Do not touch, chase or corner them as they will be frightened by the approach. You are advised to leave them alone. 3. Observe them and share your findings with pangolin research and welfare groups online. 4. If necessary, you can contact NParks at 1800-471-3700 or the police for assistance. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 10. Earlier this week (Jul 7), a white McLaren 720S was spotted crashed into a row of plants along East Coast Parkway (ECP). Here's new video footage of the crash that just surfaced, via the perspective of a cam car witness: Driver lost control while trying to overtake The video footage here shows the white sports car which skidded from lane 3 to lane 1 while trying to overtake from the left side of the cam car. Close shave with Cam Car The cam car was fortunate enough to drive away unscathed, as the cam car driver was just a few meters behind when the McLaren skidded and crashed. The million-dollar sports car was visibly damaged after it crashed into the potted plants alongside the road divider. Driver has been taken to hospital The driver has been reportedly been taken to Raffles Hospital after the crash. We're still awaiting updates about the status of the driver. We strongly advise all drivers to drive within the speed limit, and to take extra care when navigating turns, especially during the recent wet weather conditions. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 11. In a recent post on STOMP, we find a woman lying down in the middle of the road looking up at the sky. She was initially sitting down along Yishun Avenue 5 before lying down. This unusual incident occurred in front of a bus stop at Block 732 Yishun Street 72 on Monday (May 31), at around 8.40pm. And here are some comments from the stomper who uploaded the images on STOMP. We don't know whether this is an isolated incident or a recurring one so if you're in the Yishun area, please drive with caution and don't mistake the lady for debris. We don't want another hit-&-run case like yesterday's Shiba Inu incident (refer to post below). Personally, I feel sad for the lady. She might some mental issues that requires medical attention. If anyone encounters such incidents, please react graciously. You never know what the other party is going through.
  12. TL;DR – A man and a woman harass another couple over a parking dispute in Yishun. No one was hurt, but their childish behaviour is mind-numbing. Just another day in Yishun - Two men and two women engaged in a road rage dispute over parking. Before I carry on, please have a look at this 61-second video. What an ugly start to a video The video begins with an unattractive (to me) lady making faces and flipping the bird at the occupants of a Toyota Altis. From the article published on STOMP, we understand that this was in response to the cam car couple trying to park their car next to these two crazies in a Toyota Sienta. Crazy 1 (C1) Tf is wrong with this crazy? YOU HAVE A CHILD WATCHING WHAT YOU’RE DOING FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Crazy 2 (C2) Then we have this guy who comes out to challenge the cam car driver making stupid noises and acting like a monkey. Uncle, you look like you’re 60. WTF you doing? This is you right now. The uncle even tried to snatch the phone from cam car driver. Online Chatter All four of them are assisting the police with investigations. I say, go back to Primary school please.
  13. Are E-Unicycles allowed on our roads? No, if you are wondering. Under the Active Mobility Act in 2019, only bicycles and e-bikes are allowed on the roads while the rest of these devices need to remain on footpath. But that's obviously not an issue to this errant powered-unicycle user spotted on the 19th of May 2021 around 11:14pm at the junction of Toa Payoh Lorong 4 and 5. The cam car driver was annoyed at this male user and high-beamed him when he turned into Toa Payoh Lorong 4. He beamed the e-unicycle rider again when he casually crossed the road as if he was a pedestrian, ignoring the camera car as he did so. Cool ah bro? Here's what netizens want to say on ROAD.sg's post...
  14. Here's something that happened in Fernvale you have to see. According to this minute-long dashcam footage, on 2nd May 2021 at 8:51pm, a driver is seen turning left into Fernvale Link and stopping at the last minute when he realised that there was an oncoming cyclist at the zebra crossing. Despite giving way to him, the cyclist glares at the driver, stops in the middle of the zebra crossing and gets off his bicycle to hurl vulgarities at the driver (we presume according to his aggressive gestures). The poor driver waits for him to finish before completing the left turn and continuing his journey. After watching this video, my heart goes out to the driver as I understand the pains of driving at night. Firstly, it's already dark so it's harder to notice pedestrians and cyclists from afar. Then, there's the issue of the cyclist not having a front light and wearing dark clothing, which makes him harder to spot. Lastly, even when the driver stopped in time, he still kena scolded. Netizens have also taken to the comments to defend the driver and flame the cyclist: With one guy even suggesting that the driver should have just continued driving: What do you guys think? Is the driver in the wrong or is the cyclist just another 'entitled loudmouth'?
  15. TL;DR – Ang Moh cyclist harasses Lexus RX by cycling in the middle of the road, obstructing its path and swerves between cars dangerously. Here’s another reason LTA should come up with some sort of SOP for cyclists to make them accountable for their actions. In this 70-second video, you can see the male cyclist cycling recklessly to harass the Lexus driver. Putting not just himself but other motorist in danger. Cyclist vs SUV The cyclist blocks a Lexus RX on the first lane along River Valley Road near Liang Court. Honestly, I’ve watched the video like twenty times, and I still have no idea whatafrak the cyclist is doing. 1. He’s cycling without placing his hands on the handlebars of the bicycle 2. His chest and stomach are exposed (eww?) 3. He raises his right hand as if indicating he’s turning right, but he doesn’t turn right Where it happened Just in case you’re a little disoriented and unsure where this incident took place. What’s the trigger? It looks like the cyclist was trying to indicate that he wanted to turn right on Mohamed Sultan Road, but the Lexus did not allow him to do so. In response, the cyclist gives the SUV a shove and dangerously swerves through the cars in front to get ahead of the Lexus and block the driver’s path. Chitter Chatter It’s just a matter of time. There are cyclists out there who abide by the laws. Please don’t ‘sabo’. Thanks.
  16. TL:DR – A BMW 2 Series convertible goes over a small, unassuming pothole/manhole that causes its rear end to flip up, lose some parts from its undercarriage and swerve into another lane. It's incredible how a small pothole/manhole can cause thousands of dollar's worth of damage to a car. Here's an example recorded on a video forwarded many times on WhatsApp groups. From the footage, we know that this incident happened on 11th April 2021, Sunday around 5pm. As to where this is, I have a feeling it might be somewhere around Woodlands. But, if you have any idea, do let me know, and I'll update the article accordingly to warn fellow road users where to avoid. Update: Thank you everyone who identified the location. It's in Yishun. Poor BMW If you hit the pause button upon the point of impact, you'll notice that bits and pieces fall out from the undercarriage of the 2 Series. That’s as unlucky as this guy I reckon those parts are not going to be cheap to replace or repair. The pothole/manhole This image circulated together with the video. I'm assuming the cam car driver got out of the car and snapped a photo of the pothole/manhole.
  17. In a video submitted to Roads.SG and uploaded on YouTube and Facebook, a recent case of road rage has got me fuming mad with a particular individual. However, I'll try to be as civil and professional as possible. The video was just uploaded about 3 hours ago and has already received more than 100 shares on Facebook. Here's the video, in case you haven't seen it. Video from Road.SG YouTube channel The driver and his mother were entering a HDB estate and driving towards the entrance of a carpark when a white Honda Vezel almost has a head-on collision with their car. Screenshot taken from Roads.SG YouTube Channel Reviewing the footage, you can see the Vezel was on the verge of crossing the white line to the opposing lane. The dashcam driver gives a honk, accident averted, and that should be the end of the story yes? No. An Abang decides that there was an injustice with the horn and goes all aggro on the dashcam driver. Abang wasn't even the driver of the Vezel! Abang: The relationship between the Honda Vezel driver and Abang is not clear. Dashcam driver tries to defend himself and asks the Abang to look at his dashcam footage for proof, to which, the Abang says "don't need" multiple times. The spark to the argument The dashcam driver then says "Nevermind, LTA will see" and intends to drive off, but Abang Dashcam driver loses his cool and disregarding the warnings of his mother, he steps out of the car to confront Abang. Abang asks a damn stupid question - "What's your problem?". Dude, the problem is you. But, I digress. Moving on, Abang starts screaming his lungs out at Dashcam Driver. He's so fierce that Dashcam Driver actually starts shivering (the subtitles in the video helps a lot). Screenshot taken from Roads.SG YouTube Channel Shifting over to camera phone footage All this time, we only caught a slight glimpse of Abang. But with video footage from a camera phone, you can now see Exhibit A of the Singaporean Douchebag - Angry Abang. Screenshot taken from Roads.SG YouTube Channel I don't know about you, but when he starts laughing at the camera and saying shit like: Doesn’t it tick you off? The last straw My blood boils to its very core when he starts shouting at his mother - for presumably getting angry with his stupidity and trying to talk some sense into him. Screenshot taken from Roads.SG YouTube Channel Abang, you sir, are a turd aka shit. That's as vulgar as I can be in this article. What the people say Can get wife meh like that? Comments taken from Roads.SG Facebook page What do you think?
