  1. source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/4226623/2020-nissan-skyline/ Other sedans don't seem so safe. The Nissan brand is in a weird place around the world as the automaker and its partners institute a new global business plan. The automaker's executive vice president Asako Hoshino says the venerable Skyline is safe, though. However, don't get too excited yet. Hoshino is specifically referring to the current Skyline sedan, which Americans would know as the Infiniti Q50 sedan. He's not talking about the GT-R. A newspaper report in Japan recently claimed that Nissan was discontinuing the development of all sedans, including the Cima, Fuga, and Skyline models in the country. The Fuga is related to the former Infiniti Q70, and the Cima is similar to the Q70L. "Last weekend, the Nikkei Shimbun reported that the development of the Skyline had been suspended and that the curtain had come down on the development of this symbol of Nissan. Nissan will never give up on the Skyline," Hoshino said during the launch of the Nissan Note Aura e-POWER, according to Car Watch Impress. It's worth noting that he didn't deny that the Fuga and Cima were going away. A report from 2020 might shed some light on what Nissan has in mind for its future premium models. The brand intends to transform Infiniti into "Nissan-plus" by sharing more platforms and technology between the divisions. This could mean far fewer rear-wheel-drive products for Infiniti. The Skyline name actually pre-dates being a Nissan model. The first generation arrived in 1957 as a product from the Prince Motor Company. Nissan and Prince merged in 1966, and the sedan stayed in the lineup. The Skyline is currently in its 13th generation in Japan. The most recent version arrived in 2013 as a sedan. There was a styling update in 2019 that made the vehicle look more like the GT-R and added more safety tech.
  2. We know that all of us should be keeping a safe distance from each other in such times. But we reckon these guys that have been caught on video might have taken it abit too far. This video, as posted by SG Road Vigilante, shows a slow moving camera car (claimed to be doing 80km/h but it looks more like 60km/h to us) that was traveling on KPE towards TPE chancing upon a bunch or cars that were abit too keen to distance themselves from any traffic around them. Apparently this happened on the wee hours of 16th May morning and from what we can gather, the lead car is a R34 Nissan Skyline that zoomed past the camera car at a speed that seemed to double the legal speed limit of the KPE. Its hard to tell from the video but other than the Skyline, we could also identify a few other cars including a Suzuki Swift, a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Jetta (that might have been the same guy that was charged for organising illegal street racing), a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and a couple of Honda Civics. Interestingly, most of the comments were attacking the camera car for being slow. We wonder why. On the other hand, there will always be keyboard warriors that come out with weird and silly comments like the example below... 95563179_890011821514718_986642270115562833_n.mp4
  3. Nissan has updated its Skyline sedan with its latest ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance technology. Drivers can now drive hands-off on the highway. For sale in the Japanese market, the new sports sedan has the “world’s first driver assistance system that combines navigated highway driving with hands-off single-lane driving capabilities” according to Nissan. In another words, the car will work with its navigation system and prompt the driver the activate the semi-autonomous driving system when it enters a highway. Nissan is so confident in the system that it says it allows for hands-off driving while the car is cruising in a given lane. However, drivers who want to switch lanes must still do it themselves. Of course, the system also takes note of the driver's attention level. It will turn on the vehicle’s hazard lights and bring the car to a slow stop if the driver fails to respond to its alerts. Elsewhere, the facelift allows the new Skyline to benefit from its he company’s signature V-Motion grille. The car is available in four grades: GT, GT Type P, GT Type SP, and 400R. The top variant, 400R, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that pushes out 400bhp and 475Nm of torque while the rest make do with 'just' 300bhp. There is also a hybrid variant with a 3.5-litre V6 that makes 359bhp.
  4. There are plenty of special edition Skyline GT-Rs around from various tuning houses like Mine's and Nismo. And here's one from HKS that is quite rare.. Dubbed the Skyline R32 HKS Zero-R, this 90s car is said to be one of the rarest Skyline ever built and is one of the four original units HKS built at first. The company was wanted to send the car to be homolgated for sale but rules back then required the HKS to crash test a number of cars to register them as one-off models. Costing more than S$150,000 each, the Zero-R was too much to be crashed, forcing HKS to abandon the project with only four units built. The car shown here lives in Brunei currently and used to belong to the Sultan of Brunei. The rest of them are supposedly still in Japan. Interestingly, HKS built another few units of Zero-Rs after the government relaxed its rules in 2005 but these six are not as sought as after as the original batch of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=27&v=bqcGpMqxjxQ
  5. Both at about S$90k range. What is the main difference? Anyone got the specs?
  6. Just joined the forum and thought I might share my mistress with everyone. She's a 1995 series 1 R33 GTR V-Spec N1 (N1 being the same variant used for Nissan Group A racing). I was told by a trusted source that only 98 R33 N1s were built. Below is some difference between the standard GTR and the N1. - The RB26DETT N1 is an upgraded version of the standard RB26DETT engine. It was first developed by Nismo for Group A racing purposes. - water cooling channels in the block are enhanced to increase flow. The block, and internal components are also strengthened. - The pistons have 1.2 mm (0.047 in) top rings - Balanced Crankshaft, The specifications of the camshafts were also improved for power. - The N1 engine uses the same parallel twin turbocharger layout but with improved turbochargers. The N1 engine also received an upgraded oil pump and water pump, to improve the cooling and lubrication of the engine. The N1 engine is identified by its 24U number stamped on the block, as opposed to the 05U stamp on standard RB26DETT engines. It also came stock with an oil cooler. - The turbine wheels on the new turbochargers are made from steel, rather than the weaker ceramic used for all standard GT-R models. The R33 N1 engine was slightly revised, with larger turbochargers than the R32 N1 engine, supporting more power if the engine were to be modified. - They were advertised as making the same 280 PS (276 hp) as the standard model, but with the lighter engine parts, and more efficient turbochargers, the engine would make closer to 350 hp (260 kW). - No "luxury" options which includes, air-conditioner, floor mats, rear wind screen wiper and radio/CD player. I've owned the car more 1.5 years and below are some mods which I have done. 1) Nismo Monoblock Forged LMGT4 18"x9.5" +12 rims with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 285/30/18 2) Trust Full Titanium Catback Ti-R 3) Apexi Power FC ECU 4) Apexi Power FC Boost Controller Kit 5) Just Jap Racing Ceramic Hi-flow Cat (cheapo Aus brand) 6) HKS Stainless Steel Front Pipe 7) Air-con (this is acutally the first mod as the car doesnt come with it) 8) Tein Super Street Coilover Heres a couple of my favourite photos. 7. Just curious, would any of you here consider this: http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...447&DL=1000 given the age of the car? Reliability issues and wear n tear would probably be a concern right? But damn, i still prefer the shape of this over the current GTR's haha.

    Akio Toyoda

[extract] Every JDM car enthusiasts would have a particular favourite model from a Japanese automaker. Thus it is no surprise that even the current president of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, has his favourites too. During his inauguration as the Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, he was asked on his preferences among his company

  13. This is how the engines are assembled by hand.... If you ask me, I feel its a little low tech considered some manufacturers have adopted a fully automated process which is be even more precise than hand assembled.

  17. Newly launched condo at bear road...just beside the new Nicoll MRT. Just visited the showroom on the 38th floor of the office block. Is it worth it to get a high floor unit to enjoy the fantastic view or maybe rent out in future. 1bedroom ~800sqf * 1500psf = $1,200,000 2bedroom ~1111sqf * 1500psf = $1,666,600. 3bedroom ~1300sqf. Is it time to get a unit or should I wait for the economy/property fallout in few months time? (that is provided there will be a fall out and price crash?) Any comments is welcomed.

  21. I'm not sure if I see it wrongly. Anyway I save-screen the page and put it here. Can a R34 be 1.5CC? Or is it a typo error? Any bros please advise.... As far as I know, only the R32 have 1.8CC min. The series after that is 2.0CC min. And by the way, it's clearly an auto, not a manual if you view the page.
