  1. What happened? A massive crash took place in Seletar Expressway (SLE) on 6 July 2023 after a Toyota lorry lost control and skidded, causing a chain collision involving 5 other motorcyclists and a car. As we can see in the footage, the motorcyclists were left with no time to react. One motorcyclist leapt off his bike to avoid the crash, while others were unable to avoid it and caused a pile up. The first motorcyclist was also put between the lorry and a Honda, though the extent of the damage to the Honda is unknown. In the aftermath of the incident, it is shown that shrapnel was left littered across the road, while some of the riders involved were lying on the ground, injured. Fortunately, other riders were present to help them out and ensure their well being. The injured riders were conscious and sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. It is not known what happened to cause the lorry to lose control, or the condition of the lorry driver. Online chatter Many blamed the lorry for the incident, some giving their own experiences of how heavy vehicles are in the wrong lanes. A couple of people however, blamed the bikes for lane splitting. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR – A Toyota Altis travelling on the fast lane of the CTE towards Woodlands suddenly found its bonnet flipped up. Never have I ever seen something like this happen on the roads before. Watch this 30-second video to see what bizarre incident occurred along the CTE recently. What happened A Toyota Altis travelling on lane 1 of the CTE/SLE (towards Woodlands) came to a halt as its bonnet got flipped up! Some possible theories? 1. As the caption of the post suggested. The Altis driver did not secure the bonnet properly before driving off 2. The Altis driver was travelling at an insane speed, and the wind caught blew the bonnet up 3. The catch of the bonnet is loose and needs a replacement Whatever it is, it’s still a rare sight. This driver needs to buy the CNY Toto draw. Sure huat. 3. Yesterday morning on the busy Seletar Expressway, a lone motorcyclist (and those around him) got the biggest shock of his life when he drove over a wooden block on the road. Due to the impact with the object, he then lost control of his bike, swerving like 'siao' until he was tossed onto the floor, with a hard landing. Ouch! As shown in the video, readers can see the obstacle was not that visible from far away. The video can be seen here The poor motorcyclist must have not seen it too, or he would have avoided it from the start. Aiyo, look at how the motorcycle and the rider were thrown onto the hard and painful road! It was shared that the lorry behind him then slowed down, stopping to render assistance to the fallen rider. Heng! There are still some good Samaritans in the world. Online reactions to the unfortunate incident were mixed, ranging from nasty: To chiding: As well as some kinder comments that expressed concern towards the motorcyclist: This well-meaning commentator managed to sneak a pun in: Steady la. Us Sinkie drivers may be a hot-tempered bunch, but we can still show empathy where it is due. We hope the motorcyclist is well and heals quickly from his injuries. Stay safe on the roads everyone! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. Have you heard of the domino effect? According to Google, it is referred to as "the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events". Watch the domino effect in action here: What Happened? A Honda Shuttle and a tipper truck slammed into each other as they decided to switch lanes simultaneously. The collision caused major damage to the Honda Shuttle, leaving it with a pretty wrecked rear with a shattered window. Debris also flew into the adjacent lanes, which caused a grey Honda Civic to jam brake on lane 2 of the expressway to avoid some pieces of small debris. As a result of the Honda Civic's emergency brake, a Kia Cerato Forte Koup behind it could not brake in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The rear-ending seemed pretty intense as the Honda Civic rolled several metres forward, despite its brakes being applied. Needless to say, the accident left the front bumper of the Kia a complete wreck too. Netizens' Comments The biker is very lucky. And kudos to him for remaining so calm! IMO, the Honda Civic driver most likely panicked and performed an e-brake. I am confused.... ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  5. Are you familiar with those 'guai lan' drivers that speed up to prevent you from changing lanes or merging by blocking you on purpose? I swear this type of driver infuriates me. Watch this video and witness an 'instant karma' moment for one such driver: What Happened? The accident occurred along the Seletar Expressway (SLE). The cam vehicle was travelling on lane 3, the left-most lane of SLE. Despite a white Subaru Forester attempting to merge into SLE, the cam vehicle decided not to give a hoot about the white SUV and continued travelling alongside it. As the Subaru driver sped up to merge in front of the cam vehicle, the cam vehicle 'coincidentally' accelerated too. This manoeuvre by the cam vehicle prevented the Subaru SUV from merging into the SLE and forced the SUV to drive on the road shoulder before merging onto the SLE. Instant Karma in 3, 2, 1... After witnessing the Subaru's alarming actions, the lorry in front of the cam vehicle panic-braked in a moment of folly. As a result, the cam vehicle could not react in time and ended up 'kissing' the back of the lorry. If you consider the height and angle of the dashcam, the cam vehicle is likely to be a commercial vehicle. Therefore, I highly question the actions of the cam vehicle. Is there a need to be so 'guai lan'??? Look what it got you - Your just desserts. Oh, don't forget those repair fees and demerit points as well! Netizens' Comments Cam vehicle driver post online to show it's the Subaru's fault due to it driving on the road shoulder and its tinted tail lights😰 What a way to start the new year! 6. The driver of this Mitsubishi Lancer must be kicking himself right now. I don't like to judge the way that other people drive their vehicles, but when it comes to drivers not exhibiting the most basic fundamentals of driving, it's hard to bite my tongue. In the video, the camcar is carefully driving down the SLE expressway along Woodlands Avenue 12 due to the wet weather. Upon reaching the expressway exit, the driver slows down after he notices the white Audi station wagon doing so as well. All of a sudden, a Mitsubishi Lancer appears out of the blue from the right at an increasingly high speed. Due to the driver's lack of foresight, the car ends up skidding on the wet road and briefly clips the camcar and the white Audi. The driver tries to stay in his lane and ends up hitting the back of a black Toyota Vezel. The force of the impact results in the Vezel hitting the back of a Toyota Altis as well. All in all, 4 vehicles were damaged by the Lancer, with the camcar and the Audi only suffering a few dents. I'm not sure how experienced he is, but I'm pretty sure the Lancer driver can kiss his No Claim Discount (NCD) goodbye after this accident. What is NCD? No Claim Discount (NCD) or No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount on a driver's car insurance premium based on how long he has been driving and his existing claims record. As drivers accumulate more years of driving without making a claim, they would be entitled to a discount on the yearly premiums. Given that the driver has been insured with the same company for the past 12 months and does not have any accidents reported or made any claims under his own policy, a cumulative discount will apply whenever he renews his policy with the insurance company. An example of this would be: So if a driver has been accident-free for 5 or more years, he would be entitled to a 50% discount on his yearly premiums. That's a huge discount right there! Unfortunately, the moment a driver gets into an accident, the discount is removed and the premiums for the next year will definitely rise. What if the driver was under the influence of alcohol? If the driver is found to be under the influence by the police, the insurance company will not be paying a single cent. This would mean that all of the repair costs will be paid from the driver's own pocket, which might land him in hot water if he is unable to afford it. Netizens' reactions Yep, that's right! Also, isn't it common sense to slow down around bends? This is why we listen during our theory lessons - to avoid making idiotic mistakes like this. I think our Lancer driver might have to ransack his house to pay off his high premiums! 🤣 Moral of the story: Don't be a hero and slow down around bends! -------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 7. An Audi A3 driver makes a terrible decision in the middle of the SLE expressway and gets shamed for it. That's right guys, you read the video title correctly. In the video, a cam car cruises down the first lane of the expressway when suddenly, the grey Toyota Vios in front of him abruptly brakes. This causes the cam car to hit his own brakes as well to avoid rear-ending the Vios. As expected, the sudden braking of both vehicles leads to a motorcyclist almost hitting the grey Vios as he performs a lane split. Puzzled over the sudden braking, the cam car eventually makes it further down the expressway, only to find a stationary red Audi A3 in the middle of the first lane. The owner can be seen climbing over the divider to retrieve something of his before running back to his precious car. This causes the cam car driver to let out an audible exclamation of "Walao eh!", which voices his disapproval at the Audi driver's inconsiderate actions. Why did the Audi driver stop his car in Lane 1? The A3 driver stopped his car in the middle of the first lane to retrieve this: Yep, that's right - a mirror cover. For those who are unfamiliar with these, a mirror cover covers the back and over of a car's side view mirrors. Its purpose is to protect the mirrors from dirt and debris coming up off the road, as well as to contribute to its aesthetic features. While it is rare for mirror covers to suddenly fly off while you're driving, it's possible for it to happen when one or more of the connection points on the cover is bent or broken. Although it is alarming to have your side mirror covers come off, the part is usually replaceable at a dealer's workshop. This then begs the question: Was it worth it to jam up traffic just to retrieve a broken mirror cover? Our netizens beg to disagree. Netizens' reactions I agree! The benefit of retrieving a possibly broken mirror cover does not outweigh the costs of potentially causing a serious accident. Yep, a quick search on Google shows that mirror covers cost between $20 - $50, with the pricier ones being a bit fancier. Unless you're telling me that the Audi driver's mirror covers are encased in 24k gold and diamonds, I do not see the need to stop his vehicle in the middle of the fastest lane in the expressway just to retrieve it. -------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 8. For the uninitiated, you may be wondering why do riders practice lane-splitting? Well, at least according to riders, lane-splitting is a safer way of riding. However, what many riders are unaware of is that lane-splitting is only safer if performed PRUDENTLY. Watch this video to see how this rider's practice of lane-splitting put himself in great danger: Notoriously Narrow Lanes This incident occurred along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards Seletar Expressway (SLE). We are all aware of how narrow the two lanes are for all those who have travelled along the bend featured in the video. Furthermore, the high heavy vehicle traffic along this route makes it even more hazardous to navigate around this bend. As such, motorists often practice extra caution when travelling along this route. What happened? Within seconds of the video, a motorcyclist is seen riding in between slow-moving vehicles. While in between 2 vehicles, the rider seemed to have panic-braked due to his inability to squeeze through successfully. This resulted in the rider losing control of his motorcycle and hitting both vehicles to his side. Fortunately for the rider, he managed to avoid being involved in a potential freak accident. I hope this serves as a learning opportunity for ALL RIDERS to practice lane-splitting PRUDENTLY, no matter how experienced one is. Netizens' Comments This accident could have been avoided entirely. Common sense ain't that common after all. This one ultimate troller. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 9. You can add this to the list of weird sightings on Singapore's expressways, including reversing on an expressway and riding a motorcycle in the nude. Watch the video to find out what happened: This incident occurred on the Seletar Expressway (SLE). What happened? When this mishap took place, the cam car was behind a white Subaru Forester, cruising on lane 1 of the expressway. It was a pleasant and smooth drive until the Subaru Forester drove over the tyre, sending it flying directly towards the cam car and smashes right onto the cam car's bonnet. *That Subbie certainly do be flexing its SUV capability* Moments later, the cam car skilfully filters from lane 1 to the left shoulder of the expressway after spotting someone who seems to be looking for something underneath his van 🤔 Netizens' comments That would be disastrous. Also, it was lucky that the tyre did not smash into the cam car's windshield. It could end up as an accidental PR publicity for Subaru, who knows? It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt... On a side note... In such a situation, what are the possible actions cam car could take against the culprit? Would insurance coverage be applicable? --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 10. It's Monday! And nothing says Mondays like a huge traffic jam on the way to work to brighten up everyone's mood, am I right? Well, if you were to see this scene this morning on the SLE just before 9am, I don't think you would want to be caught in it either. If they could, I'm willing to bet most people in that traffic jam would've love to just turn around and head right back home to bed. I think this GIF below puts most people's mood into perspective. I mean, 2 out of 3 lanes closed due to an accident on a Monday morning during the peak hour rush? That is sure to put anyone in a good mood for the start of the working week. Although I can't imagine it was any better for the owner of the Vezel, to have his week start out like this. Regardless, with the Honda Vezel being a relatively common car on local roads, you might think that most people would be familiar with them by now, in one sense or another. My family's car is also a Vezel, and I'll say one thing about it, it's not meant to be driven too aggressively, because the car just isn't built to handle aggressive driving. Now, I'm sure that there will be some of you out there who will vehemently disagree with me, but I'm not going to argue about it because I value my life. Let me explain. The Vezel is a CUV, or a crossover. Basically a downsized SUV. What do a CUV and a SUV have in common? A higher than normal centre of gravity. So what happens to objects with a higher centre of gravity when pushed too far? They topple over. Much easier too, since more of the object's weight is higher off the ground, causing more imbalance. It is for this main reason why we see high performance vehicles being low to ground, because it helps to lower their centre of gravity. The lower your centre of gravity, the more stable you are, and the less likely the chances of you tipping over. Call me chicken, call me a coward, but I am really not interested in paying for higher insurance premiums if I get involved in an accident. Not to mention the possible accompanying mental trauma that may result as of the accident. If you still don't get it, perhaps having your car flipped over on its back like a turtle and being pulled upright would make you feel a whole lot better. If this analogy floats your boat, then.... Good on your. Like this Vezel. It's driver's door wasn't closed while it was turned turtle, presumably because the driver had to crawl out of the vehicle, but hey, at least the actions of the tow truck helped to close his door. Here's hoping that whoever was in that Vezel managed to get out of the vehicle with minor or no injuries. Not the best way to start a new week and a new month, but I guess sometimes you have to take the bitter with the better. Please drive safe, people. Don't be another addition to the traffic accident statistics that the Traffic Police puts out annually.
  11. 119810553_1098858070552615_6169005424589589203_n.mp4 "Hey man, where's the fire?", is what one should be asking the driver of the white Toyota. From the look of the video, the driver was going way too fast. If he wasn't rushing to a fire, maybe he was rushing off for something else... But let's not digress. As the old adage goes, "if you want to do something stupid, make sure others don't get hurt". Well, guess the driver of the Toyota didn't get the memo too. Speeding like a madman, fine. Crash into the central divider, it's your fault so live with it. But knocking into someone else after crashing your car? Not cool, man. Especially since the other car was minding their own business until they got a rude jolt because another car crashed into them. Stay safe, people. If you want to speed, buy a PlayStation or Xbox and get those racing simulator games like Gran Turismo or Forza. A lot cheaper and a whole lot safer.

  13. Driver of above car, please contact me if you need help or video footage of your accident with the motorcycle and silver taxi that rammed into you. Happened today at 4.47pm, at the SLE exit to Lentor Avenue / Yishun. Any bros here know how to extract the rear camera video of dual channel car cameras? It is 1 avi file but I can see the front and rear video using car cam software or VLC player.
  14. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/transport/story/sle-closed-after-collision-involving-several-vehicles-20141109 Sle closed due to major accident. My bro told me jam still there. Drive safe everyone. Please avoid that stretch. I know the news is slow haha but hopefully can still help one or two Bros who are planning an afternoon ride.
