The ix25 (photos) is a sub-compact crossover built upon a variation of the i20's supermini platform. It will be sold exclusively in China. However, the global compact crossover boom means Hyundai could well build the car in international plants for worldwide consumption.
If sold locally, the ix25 would be similar in most ways to the Matrix, Hyundai's popular small MPV that sold well during the noughties as it found favor with Singaporean families looking for an "affordable" and versatile runabout.
The ix25 debuts this month in Beijing.
