  1. Darth Vader, formerly known as Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker, student of Obi-Wan Kenobi and master to Ahsoka Tano. Now deceased following after sacrificing himself to save his son Luke Skywalker from the Emperor and bringing balance to the Force. But no! Darth Vader was seen in Bukit Batok… Driving a lorry? Watch the video to see what I’m talking about. What happened? Darth Vader (a Mitsubishi lorry driver) was seen in Bukit Batok Block 435 on 29 April around 11pm putting on an entertaining show while trying to reverse. However, a taxi was blocking the Sith lord’s way, inciting an extremely loud horn that was clearly audible many metres above the event taking place. Instead of a Force choke, Darth Vader begins to reverse. This causes The Imperial March to start blaring from the loudspeakers as he backs out of the road. As Lord Vader makes steady progress, his voice emanated over the soundtrack and began swearing at the driver of the blue taxi. Only instead of James Earl Jones’s voice he sounded more like a Chinese uncle, while telling the taxi driver to do the dirty with his mother. ezgif.com-video-cutter.mp4 The person recording is at least 7 storeys high and all audio is clear. How loud were these speakers sia. Online chatter If this was a publicity stunt by whatever company the driver is under, props to the marketing team. Many people had something to laugh about, such as Vader sounding Chinese, swearing and of course, “your mother”. Others had concerns about how such modifications were approved and allowed to be installed on the lorry. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR - PMD rider and ComfortDelGro taxi driver making a big fuss over road blocking, argument ended up being a battle of cussing at each other's parents. ‘Guai-lan’ or childish? Or both? Watch this 88-second video of these two idiots disputing over something trivial. What happened? A PMD rider and a ComfortDelGro taxi driver get into a heated argument over road blocking. In the video, the taxi driver lashed out at the PMD rider for road hogging while the PMD rider claimed that he did not see the taxi behind, thus blocking the road unintentionally. This misunderstanding blew up which led to the whole scene of them ‘kpkb’ at each other. In the midst of this intense squabble, both parties were crying father and mother; basically revolving the entire feud cursing each other’s parents. Two grown-up men engaging in such childish behaviors, not cool man, not cool. Is this the new way to get to know each other? Damn, feels like I’m watching some Hong Kong drama. Online Chatter Feels like a catfight but this time with two men whose ages probably add up to >100 years old… From this we can clearly tell age does not define maturity. Are you #TeamTaxiDriver or #TeamPMDRider? Moral of the Story It is important to keep in mind that courtesy is a two-way street. Extend courtesy before it’s reciprocated! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. Is encountering slower drivers on the road an excuse to do a dangerous overtake? Watch this video and decide for yourself. Watch as the incident unfolds just outside of a school: In the video, we can see that the Transcab Prius is attempting to do an overtake, using the lane with potential oncoming traffic. Super dangerous move. If there actually was oncoming traffic, the head-on collision would certainly have a high chance of fatality, especially considering the speeds that the taxi driver is travelling at. The taxi driver finally overtakes successfully. But at what cost? Crossing a continuous white line could potentially net the taxi driver demerit points. Is it really wise to save that few seconds for demerit points, that can cause a taxi driver his rice bowl? Probably not. We meet angry netizens again. This time, one of them says that it would be better to have his license revoked. Looking at the circumstances, we would be inclined to agree. Yet another angry netizen. But this time he takes the side of the taxi driver, saying that the camcar is road hogging. He even gains the support of 26 other netizens with the number of likes and reacts. Despite the overwhelming support this commenter got, we still believe that the taxi driver's actions was not warranted, especially when it was a in a school zone. In fact not only a school zone, but a school with students with special needs. This just makes the whole situation more dangerous to everyone. So it seems that this case divides opinion. Regardless of what your opinion is of the situation, we advise the utmost caution when driving near school zones, and to be alert for any students whop may be playing near or even on the road. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. TL;DR – A Toyota Vellfire taxi driver slaps and flings a lady onto the ground for kicking his car and breaking his side mirror. It’s been a while since we’ve had video footage of some serious road drama. Today’s incident definitely takes the cake. Watch the minute-long viral video here: What happened prior to the video? It is unclear from the caption as to what occurred before the video was recorded. But there must have been an inciting incident for this to take place. The lady can be seen ‘flipping the bird’ or ‘pointing the middle finger’ at the taxi driver at the start of the video. The taxi driver keeps his cool and starts driving off. The lady, however, decides to take a cheap shot at the Vellfire and gives it a kick. Unable to control his temper any further, the taxi driver comes out of the car and proceeds to give her one tight slap. Fight! Fight! Fight! Well, if you can call that a fight. It seems pretty one sided If you ask me. Eh! That’s not cool lady! The fight is with the taxi driver. Why did the woman have to go and destroy the Vellfire’s side mirror? What did the Vellfire do to you ah? Shit ton of online chatter This incident is exploding all over social media. The amount of comments to choose from to feature is insane. Even an animal would attack the taxi driver and not the Vellfire. Agreed. Yes. I was brought up to always respect a woman and never hit a woman. But I think that there should be a rule that “women should not kick a man’s car” as well. I would donate too. But I can only afford a $5 donation. Seems to me like a majority of the comments are very ‘pro taxi driver’. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. Cam car has recorded a taxi speeding up while trying to switch lanes. The taxi also drove along the road shoulder and performed brake checks on the cam car. Are all these really worth the hassle and risking your safety over? It seems more like pettiness and insane behaviour to me. Watch the video for yourself below: 290217725_120483413866324_829176470840012533_n.mp4 Road courtesy is basic decency. It does not only safeguard your own safety, but others as well. And in the case of this taxi driver, he neither cares for his safety nor the safety of others. The offence Driving along the road shoulder is a traffic offence by itself, and the taxi driver could be liable to a maximum of 6 demerit points and a $200 fine. Brake checking is also known as the act of sharply hitting the brakes while driving to make an unsuspecting driver behind slam on his brakes or swerve out of the way to avoid an accident. Although it is not a chargeable offence, the taxi driver would be liable if his brake check results in an accident between him and the cam car. Netizen Comments Netizens gathered to express their opinions, with many criticising and blaming the taxi driver. It seems that netizens are aware of who is in the wrong here. In my opinion, the taxi driver should receive severe consequences for his actions to deter him from performing such acts again. Not only is it extremely petty and senseless, but it could potentially lead to an accident too. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 6. TL:DR – Two taxi drivers get into a semi-heated argument because one of them was waiting at a pickup/drop off zone, impeding the other taxi driver from moving off. What do you do at a pickup/drop off zone? Pick up passengers or drop them off. Simple. But a taxi driver decided to wait there in hopes of getting a passenger. This enraged another taxi driver behind him - Resulting in the following recorded video. Where is this? More than one comment on Facebook claims that this is Rivervale Mall. It looks like a very Hougang/Sengkang setting, but I could be wrong. Hokkien conversations Okay, so my Hokkien is not the best but let’s try and translate bits and pieces of the conversation. Blue taxi uncle: Seems like an old man. Can’t really hear what he’s saying. Which is his main point of argument throughout the whole video. Did I hear Thai 😍? A Thai lady (based on her accent) filmed the whole incident and even offered to give her own suggestions on how to diffuse the situation. I haven’t heard that accent in a while. I’m not excited. Your face is excited. Online Chatter The red taxi driver obviously just wanted to find fault with anyone willing to engage with him. He could have just reversed and gone on his merry way. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. It's time for LTA and the TP to take this taxi driver down a peg. Posted less than two hours ago on Facebook, a fellow citizen spotted a Transcab driver driving a Renault Latitude outside Orchid Country Club. Situated along Yishun Avenue 1, the red cab noticed a queue for vehicles to turn out of the road. Not wanting to join the long line, the taxi crossed the double white lines (yikes!) and tried to exit the lane in the opposite direction. In all honesty, if the roads were clear, his plan would have worked. However, just at that moment, a blue cab and a silver van wanted to turn into the lane from the main road. This ends in an awkward face-off between both cabs as the red taxi driver refuses to back off. The citizen recording the video zoomed in, showing the driver of the red cab hanging out of the window of his vehicle, presumably yelling at the other cabby. As minutes passed, the Transcab driver stood his ground between both lanes. As if things could not get any worse, the driver of a silver car on the main road found himself situated awkwardly in the junction box as he could not make his right turn into the blocked lane. The video ends with the citizen zooming onto the red cab's license plate to identify the entitled and selfish driver. Netizens' reactions Understandably, most netizens were furious over the entitled taxi driver's behaviour. Besides committing the offence of crossing the double white lines, the driver intentionally blocked the flow of traffic due to his own selfishness. It's no wonder that people were tagging LTA, Transcab and the Traffic Police in their comments to highlight the issue to these authorities. I honestly salute the blue taxi driver for not engaging in any road rage with the red driver. I would also honk the taxi until he reversed and joined the queue. Why though? Why are they like this? I wonder what Transcab's response will be. Do you think they even take note of the number of complaints they receive on social media? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 8. One can never take road safety for granted. There is a purpose behind inculcating a sense of road safety in us from a young age. Watch what happens when you take a chance and throw your road safety knowledge and guidelines out the window: What Happened? The accident occurred along Pasir Ris Drive 1, involving a taxi and a cyclist. A cyclist was cycling across a pedestrian crossing when a taxi performing a discretionary left turn started to accelerate as he approached the junction. Due to the lack of lights and reflectors and the dark coloured clothing donned by the cyclist, the cyclist's road presence was hardly noticeable. The taxi driver likely did not spot the cyclist while he was cycling across the pedestrian crossing. As a result, the taxi driver rammed into the cyclist rather forcefully, which sent him crashing headfirst onto the road. The Injury The cyclist injured his head, causing his forehead to bleed. He was subsequently conveyed to the hospital for medical attention. Who do you think is at fault? The taxi driver, cyclist or both? Netizens' Comments Indeed. NGL this is somewhat true. He's paying the price for forgetting the most important, yet cheap safety component. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. If you don't like road cyclists, your blood confirm boil after this. According to SG Road Vigilante, these young cyclists caused a big hoo-hah in the middle of cross street road. From their body language, seems like they were buaysong (read: unhappy) with the Comfort Delgro Taxi. This took place on 14th January 8:21PM. While we don't know what happened, these cyclists had the audacity to gang up and trash it out on the roads. Some people really never die before, literally. 😑 Naturally, many Facebook users were enraged with the cyclists' behaviour: What's worse than YPs? YPs on bicycles picking fights on roads, obviously.
  10. An image uploaded on Beh Chia Lor's Facebook page of a green taxi parking on a patch of green grass happens to be the talk of the office today. Here's the image for your reference courtesy of Beh Chia Lor. What we know Image from https://www.taxisingapore.com/taxi-companies/hdt-electric-taxi/ This green BYD taxi belongs to a taxi company called HDT Taxi. I've not seen or sat in one, but we know that the company's fleet comprises of fully-electric vehicles with a focus on "Going Green". Also, we know that the patch of grass the taxi is on, is not a parking lot. Some scenarios to consider Maybe, the taxi driver thought his car can blend into the grass like a chameleon Maybe, taxi driver thought he John Cena Maybe, taxi driver army siao, like to "Camo On" But, the truth is, we can still see the taxi ah? What the people say Right? Whut? This taxi driver taking the company mission of "going green" too seriously.

  13. Recently, a taxi driver passed away after he was involved in an accident with a Ferrari. In fact, other than the risk of getting into accidents, a taxi driver also faces other occupational risks such as robbery and aggressive customer. Not long ago, a taxi driver was thrown out of his cab after he got into a dispute with a passenger at Changi Airport. The above incidents prompted me to conduct some research over the internet and I hope to share these safety tips with all the taxi uncles and aunties out there on the road earning a living: 1.) Do not flash or display your money Do not wear any type of expensive watch, necklaces, or wrist bracelets. If you do, you are providing motivation for the person to rob you. If you must wear a necklace, make sure it is very thin so that it will break before it can strangle you. If your passenger offers you a large denomination note, advise him that you will take him to get it changed at a nearby store. Do not show him that you have money to change it. On this point, also never tell your customer that you had a good shift. 2.) Be alert and aware Keep yourself very alert and aware of what is going on around you at all times, whether you are parking or driving. This can be achieved by having sufficient rest, eat well, and getting enough exercise. The windows can be opened slightly to allow fresh air to come in, but not to the extent whereby someone can grab you from the outside. Use defensive driving tactics. 3.) Keep an eye on your passenger Keep some type of watch over your passengers while they are in your taxi. Maintain eye contact with them as they enter your vehicle. This is to send a signal to them that you can identify them in the event that they do harm to you. Do not let the passenger sit directly behind you if possible because it is your blind spot. Buy a convex rear view mirror that replaces or fits over the regular one. This will allow you 100% back seat visibility. It also sends a message to the customer that you can see them. 4) Know emergency procedures Each taxi company has in place a set of emergency procedure rules for use in different circumstances. These rules vary from company to company and you must make a sincere effort to learn them. They are not there for the company, but are for you and your personal safety. 5.) Always keep the doors locked This is very important especially if you are sitting in your cab waiting for the next customer. You do not want someone to come up beside you on foot without you noticing them and jerking open the door and attacking you. 6.) Do not be aggressive or argumentative This type of behavior may escalate a minor disagreement into a violent confrontation. Stay calm and controlled. 7.) Do not resist a robbery Just comply with the bad guy. If you resist, you may be injured or even worse, murdered. It is wiser to live to work another day. 8.) Be aware of passengers who give you "vague" instructions It is of utmost importance that you insist on your customer giving you a fixed destination as to where they are going, before you start driving away. Some customers may say, take me to "whatever" street or give an uncertain destination. If they are unsure and balk, read this as a sign that you should be very alert to what they are up to. If they tell you to "just start driving - we will tell you the way", this is a classic danger signal to you. Do not move and politely advise them that the "company's policy" requires you to get an exact address. Double check over the radio to confirm the address. This will send the passenger a signal that others know where you are going. 9.) Ensure that the radio is working The most important piece of equipment in your taxi is your radio, as it connects you to your dispatcher. The dispatcher is your lifeline. They are the ones who will get you help if you are in trouble. 10.) Carry a spare key It is a good idea to have a spare key for the taxi you drive and carry it in your pocket by itself. Should you be robbed, what will probably happen is that the robbers will rip out your radio mike so you cannot call for help, and may throw your keys away if they do not steal your taxi to make the getaway. They think that by doing this, they are depriving you of your mobility. Have a safe journey and happy
