  6. their headlights continuously along Brickland Road towards KJE around 6.30pm. Sensing somethong wrong, I didn't speed down that stretch as I would normally do. If not for all the flashings, would have fallen prey to the TPs who had stopped a female motorist! Poor lady. Appreciate your gesture and if fate allows, I will repay you guys next time!

  12. basically i will summarise as easily as possible. we agree to deal a vehicle at price $88k and i am the seller. the deposit was $1k by check and we sign an agreement with this specific clause: the deal will only go through if they secured insurance for the vehicle. otherwise, the deposit must be returned. now they want to back off from the deal and they ask me not to bank in the check. the reason they gave was that the insurance they were quoted were too high. i have not told them that i intend to keep the deposit. they will obviously state that they have the right to get back the deposit because they did not secure the insurance. but i feel that that term did not state clearly. it was quite obvious that when someone say cannot secure insurance, it it because nobody want to insure. now the problem is many people want to insure, just that they feel too expensive. i rejected an offer at $87k because they gave me this deposit. now i ask the second offer guy, he say he bought another car already. i feel very lugi le. what do you guys think? should i bank in the check tmr? of course, my guess is that they should have already canceled the check. but do i have a case if i go CASE?
  13. Dear bros, please help give advice. thanks!! cant see the video.. click here:
  14. Of late, in the 2 months, I find that I have been merging threads less and I thank the MEMBERs here who have abide by the rules and to have searched first before posting. It really makes this place more bearable so that similar topics get the breadth and depth rather than separate discussions. We would like to also thank those who inform as well as alert on the thread itself for the clueless that there are such threads, and it gives us the headsup to merge. Keep ti going and once again, thanks for making this place more reader friendly! TO MORE GOOD YEARS!! [laugh]
  15. It shows that the poor really do get the help needed. $800/month for unemployed is huge, even more than those cleaners. I think it's the sandwich-class who are working that really need some attention. Not in the form of hand out, but like more effective control in inflation and curb in rising property price.
  16. Hi all... Need expert advice... After warranty for my sunny ended. I no longer go to Tan Cheong. I now do my servicing based on my little knowledge of cars... After checking my car's service history... I think I should be in time for a coolant change. I hv heard numerous things abt coolant for the car... *trakies say just water by itself is best for track day... For normal everyday driving a little coolant is good enuf. *old mechanics say water will do... Coolant will spoil the radiator... But I believe its the mixing of different coolants that will react and cause damage. *so I believe safest to put pre-mixed coolant... But cost factor lah... And many pre-mixed coolant I find has anti-freeze... Useless in SG and lowers the efficiency of the coolant. *so I think a coolant made for the tropics without antifreeze makes more sense. *heard that improper mix ratio is bad... But why? I've heard some ppl put 100% coolant concentrate into the radiator... No problems... But that is even more expensive than pre-mixed. So I finally decided after considering for a few days... Earlier in the evening I drained out my old coolant... Only very slight green... Kept pouring a lot of water in until only clear water came out... Filled it up with only tap water (SG water is soft n safe) and turned on the engine for a few minutes... Off engine then drain again... Tis time some more slight green water came out... And I poured tap water till it got clear again... I also took out the whole reservoir and washed it... Sooooo dusty below and could see some rust sediments inside... God... Took a puff while waiting for the radiator to drip dry totally... Then I poured 500ml of Japanese made for tropics green coolant into the radiator (label says 35% mix best...) and topped up a bottle of distilled water. Then I poured a bottle of Gunk radiator additive in... Then top up till brim with distilled water. I poured another bottle of coolant into the reservior n top to max with distilled water... Drove around for 5mins... An hour later I topped up somemore distilled water into the radiator... Now just drove to pick my wife in town. Temp is lower than usual slightly... WOW!!! Maybe my old coolant was very very old... Haha... Now I don't know if i did anything wrong... anyone here has hands-on experience with coolant change? Thanks...

  18. Thanks to GIC investment, UBS and friends entertain themselves at Singaporean's expense. Source: 'For UBS, austerity hard to balance at Singapore F1 race': [Reuters, 22Sept2011] [p.source] "..UBS's largest shareholder, Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC...": "the board staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Millennia Hotel in Singapore, one of the priciest hotels in one of Asia's most expensive cities." "With a bird's-eye view of the racetrack, a three-night stay at the Ritz this weekend -- complete with Formula One tickets -- costs a minimum of S$6,000 ($4,700) for corporate clients. A receptionist told Reuters a night in one of their top suites goes for as much as S$17,000 before tax." "Traders in Singapore said UBS had also booked a hospitality lounge in the city-state's famous Raffles Hotel for three days, but UBS declined to confirm the booking." "UBS became a global sponsor of Formula One in August last year ... The bank never disclosed the financial terms of the agreement. But marketing experts at the time said it was likely to cost tens of millions of dollars every year. Chief executive Oswald Gruebel, known to be a big motor-racing fan, oversaw the deal, their first major international sponsoring initiative for several years. The bank said in its press release that the tie-up provided 'fascinating opportunities for key client hospitality across the globe'... all corporate hospitality guests will enjoy 'an international five-star menu, extensive wine selection' and 'breathtaking views from our exclusive balconies, terraces and private grandstands'." "UBS's staff and clients are also enjoying F1-related perks: employees in their Singapore office told Reuters they have all been given a free red and black Formula One jacket." Source: - 'For UBS, austerity hard to balance at Singapore F1 race': [Reuters, 22Sept2011] Reference: - 'Rogue trader at UBS racks up S$2.48-billion loss': "UBS shares plummeted by 8 per cent to 10.07 Swiss francs late yesterday in Zurich... The share price plunge is bad news for GIC, which holds a 6.4-per-cent stake in the Swiss bank. Based on the last traded price, GIC is sitting on about 7 billion francs, or S$10 billion, in unrealized losses, even after taking into account the 2 billion francs it received on the coupon before its 2008 investment was converted to shares last year." 24. This morning along Haig Road beside Tanjong Katong Primary.. Normal for slow traffic everywhere in SG ..parents /guardians sending kids to school..but my son school they allow cars to go in for drop off in order to stop holding traffic outside..understandable tht sometime ppl lazy to drive in... I was driving out and enter the 2 way single lane road...long queues of cars and vans and slow moving with almost bumpers to bumpers.. Suddenly this Civic in front of me stopped and then 'ON his left signal' ... cant see what happening in the car really..holding up the stretched of road.. Horn him and passed my headlights..still did not move..tried to filter out slowly when no oncoming traffic.. Suddenly his kids came out of the car..when to his side and told him next time put on hazard lights earlier and not his left side signal ON..so ppl can react earlier to filter.. I think its normal for us remind others on this... My main highlights is that how he reply me... grinned face and say' WHY U FOLLOW SO NEAR' u know 'I WANT TO STOP'... Shocked to hear his reply as he didnt hear ppl friendly advice during long queues but comment sacasticly... I want to learn to read ppl minds please help.. [sweatdrop] Typical or minority...
