  1. TL;DR – A Toyota Wish with p-plates dangerously cuts in front of a cam car, beats the red light and almost gets t-boned by another car There’s a reason why car insurance companies charge a premium for new drivers. This 62-second video is one of the reasons: What happened? The video starts off by highlighting the exciting bits (think that’s the format SGRV is going for these days). A Toyota Wish dangerously cuts in front of the cam car and it looks like it’s a very tight pocket of space too. But, that’s not all, the Wish then blatantly beats the red light too! Which then also results in another car almost t-boning it. The heck is wrong with this driver? How many demerit points? Let’s count the number of demerit points this new driver racked up shall we? Failing to conform to traffic signals – 12 points Reckless or dangerous driving (where no hurt is caused) – 24 points Stats taken from: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/ - it's legit That’s a whopping 36 points! There are some people who commented that new drivers now only have 12 points to lose instead of the 13 I had in my time (I’m old dammit). But, even so, 36 is way past 12 or 13! Online Chatter Important to note that whether hurt or no hurt was caused, it’s a straight 24-point deduction. With hurt could include a higher fine or possibly jail time. This driver needs to get a call from Singapore Traffic Police and think about his/her actions for the next two years before being allowed to retake a new license. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR – A Subaru Legacy recklessly speeds through morning traffic and weaves through tight pockets of space between cars. Ends up side swiping a Toyota Wish causing a jam on the PIE during morning rush hour. It’s 8am and you’re on the way to work. The morning traffic is not too bad and you look like you’ll make it to the office with little to no hiccups. But, life is funny and loves to throw you a curve ball every now and then. In this case, it’s in the form of a Subaru Legacy with a driver that has shit for brains. Watch the viral video here: Crazy driver This minute and a half (ish) video starts by throwing us straight into the action. A Subaru Legacy with a roof pod comes charging in from the left side of the cam car and can be seen aggressively switching lanes. It then hits a car, loses control and comes to a halt at lane 1. Is there a profile for roof pods? I don’t know about you readers but most of my friends who are considering to install roof pods or already have roof pods installed are married men with kids. Roof pods can give your car an additional 300 to 600 litres of cargo space - Which is space you’ll need especially if you have children. And as you can see from a quick search on Google, some of them don’t come cheap. Really hope the driver’s children were not in the car though. Sway la, the Wish An image of the damage to the Wish was also uploaded along with the video. I’m pretty sure it was more than the Wish but the video footage of impact is quite blur and it happened really quickly. There seems to be another stationary car on lane 1 (besides the idiot) that was affected by this incident. Online Chatter Somehow the PIE happens to be prone to traffic jams for some reason. Not to mention the driver’s “maybe” children in the car. Yeah lo. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. Breaking news: A silver Toyota Wish suddenly went up in flames in Yishun, producing a large cloud of smoke and a constant racket of noise. Earlier this afternoon, pedestrians and passers-by uploaded several videos of a silver Toyota Wish burning in the middle of the road. As the flames swallowed the vehicle's insides, its horn started to produce a loud and constant noise. This garnered the attention of more individuals, who then called for the police and the SCDF. In one of the videos, police officers could be seen directing traffic at the junction. Luckily, the SCDF firefighters arrived quickly at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire within a matter of seconds. Kudos to the SCDF for acting quickly! Possible causes of car fires The first possible cause of a fire like this could be a fuel system leak. Leaks are the most common cause of vehicle fires and are dangerous as they can arise independently with minimal warning. Fuel leaking onto hot metal and plastic parts cause a fast-spreading fire, which is why drivers must ensure that their vehicles are appropriately maintained to reduce the chances of a fuel system fire. The next possible cause of a car fire could be an electrical system failure starting from fault conditions between the battery and starter cables or a high voltage that can generate a spark in the spark-ignition engine. The charging cycles of a car battery can cause explosive hydrogen gas to build up, and the electrical current from the battery can produce sparks that would ignite a fluid drip or leaked vapours. An unnoticed frayed wire could cause havoc as electrical wiring runs throughout the entire car. Netizens’ reactions While we are still unsure what had started the fire, netizens were quick to speculate potential causes. ======== Witnessed an accident? See something interesting on the roads? 5. This, kids, is why they kept telling us in driving school, don't abruptly cut in front of another motorist from the left, because the odds are they won't see you, and should it be a worst case scenario.... When everyone is at the lights, all seems well. The motorcycle on the left is a GrabFood rider, and he rides off straight. It is only after the GrabFood rider goes off a little in the distance, that the Malaysian motorcycle suddenly cuts in front of the Toyota Wish, who seems to not be wanting to turn but instead going straight. Now before you blame the Toyota for "why is he going straight in a turning lane", watch the video. The lane the Toyota is on can be used to turn right or go straight. Now, I am assuming the Toyota did not turn on his right signal, indicating that he didn't want to turn at the junction, he wanted to go straight. But as the light turns green, the Malaysian motorcycle just dandily cuts in from the left and right in front of the Toyota, giving the driver barely any time to react. No matter how hard you slam on your brakes, people, cars don't cut to an immediate stop like they do in cartoons. It's called physics. Now, I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, but I believe the Toyota didn't even realise that the motorcyclist was in front of him until it was too late. But really, the Malaysian motorcyclist should have known better than to cut in front of a car in such a carefree manner. Whether you're in JB or not, I don't think most drivers would expect a motorcycle to sudden appear in front of them and prepare to turn right as one is heading straight. Ultimately, let's just hope that everyone involved in the accident is all right. Rules, people. They exist for a reason.
  6. Happy Labour Day, Singapore! Some of us are thinking of how to utilise our pay that just came in. Then, there are jokers like this Toyota Wish driver who blows it all in an instant (and more). Speeding on PIE A dashcam video of the said driver has gone viral and here are some takeaways after watching the video. No one drives a Wish to speed. It's a family MPV for goodness sake. Don't do stupid things with other people's car, much less a rental Here's the 47-second video taken from SG Road Vigilante The Wish loses control at the 0.09 mark of the video. Online chatter Wow. To the Toyota Wish driver, good luck paying for all the damages for a rental car.

  14. Hi all toyota wish bros, recently realised that when my '06 wish is accelerating on expressway after 70-80km/h, car starts to vibrate very very ferociously. It's like the car is travelling off road man.. Went to the WS and he said nothing's wrong with my engine. What else could the problem be? Need some serious help here, the TWCSG site is not working for me I can't even register

  16. Was driving along PIE and heading out of on sliproad to upper serangoon road this evening (25th Aug) around 10:35 pm. The car in front of me (a Toyota Wish) tried to filter right out of the lane and slowed down to almost full stop. I had to slow down quite a bit as well. The car at the back (Honda Accord - I think) slowed down as well and didn't hit me. I then moved off but then my passenger told me that they heard a sound of a possible accident at the back of my car. Managed to pull my car cam and found that a car behind the Honda probably hit the Honda's rear. So, though my car wasn't hit, I was wondering if the Honda might need help with a witness to prove that he was not in the wrong when he had to slow down. How do I go about reporting this? The online Police Traffic webpage doesn't allow me to as this didn't any injury, pedestrian or government property (I believe).

  18. Hi, I am deciding between these 2 cars. I have listed down some pros and cons, but can everyone also contribute to let me know more so that I make a better decision? Thanks. Of cos, I want to buy a cheaper car, everyone wants that, but I also want to know if by paying less for Sienta, will I be getting a much worst car. Is Sienta value for money compared to Wish? Also, I am not very sure of the OMV of the Sienta. Let me start off with what I know: Toyota Sienta ------------- Pros Lower price $62k Great FC Lower road tax $874 Lower insurance Cons Less power (at 1.5) then Wish (1.8) Less interior space???? Car does not look as nice as Wish (subjective) Rare in SG, so harder to find spare parts and more expensive? Toyota Wish ----------- Pros More power Great FC More interior space??? Better looking Cons Higher road tax $1242 Higher cost (About 70K) Pls help to contribute what you know about the 2 cars, thanks.
  19. For those who are considering the latest Toyota Wish that was recently launched from Borneo Motors, there might be some things you should take note before you sign on that cheque book. Although the Borneo Motors (BM) Wish does come with seemingly better interior equipment, when you go chassis deep, it might be a different story. The BM Wish might come with higher quality leather and a high-end audio system but transmission wise, it is equipped with a 4-speed automatic while the Toyota Wish 1.8X from the Parallel Importers (PI) is equipped with a silky smooth 7-speed CVT gearbox. The engine in the BM Wish might have a higher capacity but it produces less horsepower than the PI Wish. The torque figures are a little higher though not significantly so. The 200cc difference in capacity has a great impact on the Wish
