  1. We’ve seen many examples of bad driving in this forum, but this one is just malicious. What happened? On 11 May, 8.51 a.m. at Tampines Expressway, a Hyundai Elantra driver decided to hit a motorcycle while disguising it as lane filtering. As you can see in the video, the Hyundai was coming in from another road to join the expressway. Immediately the Hyundai went across multiple lanes at once, and headed for the motorcycle like a missile. The motorcyclist had a pillion rider as well, and both of them were sent rolling across the tarmac, their bike skidding away. The Hyundai showed no remorse for the move, as there was not even a hint of braking or turning away before the impact. The driver simply continued on their way like nothing happened, not stopping to check if he committed vehicular manslaughter. We can see when the Hyundai driver passes the camcar that he left his turn signal on when he was “lane filtering”. Uproar Motorists of all sorts were none too pleased by such behaviour on the road, condemning the Hyundai driver Others also noted how the incident looked intentional, as the driver showed no concern after hitting the bike. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. One common behaviour of motorcyclists is how they always tend to lane split while riding. Furthermore, these riders lane split regardless of their level of experience on the road. Watch how an inexperienced p-plate rider learn his lesson the hard way: What Happened? The accident occurred at the Punggol Exit of the TPE, involving a Go-Ahead bus and a p-plate rider along with his pillion. Many vehicles were forming up for a right turn at a traffic light when a p-plate rider decided to lane split his way to the front of traffic. Unfortunately, the inexperienced p-plate rider decided to position himself in the blind spot of the Go-Ahead bus captain. As a result, while the Go-Ahead bus captain was negotiating the right turn, he inevitably sideswiped the motorcycle, causing the rider and his pillion to fall. Luckily, the rider and his pillion did not seem to sustain any major injuries, as the impact of the collision was not great. I guess this will serve as a hard lesson for the p-plate rider to either avoid lane split from now on or be more careful when lane splitting. Is lane splitting safer for riders? Some riders argue that lane splitting is somehow "safer", While other motorists argue that it is dangerous and riders lane split for their mere convenience to skip traffic. However, I have yet to understand how lane-splitting makes riding "safer". Any experienced riders care to do me a favour and explain it in the comments below? Netizens' Comments This man speaks from personal experience☝️ The rider clearly WFH for too long liao. The rider was trying to attempt some next level shit! "Experience is a good school. But the fees are high." ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  3. Have you heard of the domino effect? According to Google, it is referred to as "the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events". Watch the domino effect in action here: What Happened? A Honda Shuttle and a tipper truck slammed into each other as they decided to switch lanes simultaneously. The collision caused major damage to the Honda Shuttle, leaving it with a pretty wrecked rear with a shattered window. Debris also flew into the adjacent lanes, which caused a grey Honda Civic to jam brake on lane 2 of the expressway to avoid some pieces of small debris. As a result of the Honda Civic's emergency brake, a Kia Cerato Forte Koup behind it could not brake in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The rear-ending seemed pretty intense as the Honda Civic rolled several metres forward, despite its brakes being applied. Needless to say, the accident left the front bumper of the Kia a complete wreck too. Netizens' Comments The biker is very lucky. And kudos to him for remaining so calm! IMO, the Honda Civic driver most likely panicked and performed an e-brake. I am confused.... ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. Contrary to what was taught, your vehicle's high beam is seldom used as a safety feature to enhance your visibility. More often than not, it is a visual sign of giving the motorist in front of you a middle finger. Watch how a flash of high beam quickly turned this BMW driver unhappy: What Happened? This incident occurred at a Tampines Expressway (TPE) exit towards Punggol Road. While traveling on lane 2, the taxi ahead of the cam car indicated his left signal and proceeded to change from lane 1 to 2. The taxi continued leaving his left signal and started changing lanes from lane 2 to 3. However, before the taxi could successfully change lanes to lane 3, a BMW 535i emerged from behind. For some reason, the cam car decided to flash his high beam as a 'warning' to both the taxi and BMW drivers. And not to anyone's surprise, the BMW driver quickly became unhappy at the cam car's unnecessary flashing of high beams. As a result, the BMW driver gave the cam car a brake check and proceeded to switch lanes multiple times to be behind the cam car. He proceeded to give the cam car a taste of his own medicine - by shining some light on him. Moments later, the BMW driver quickly accelerated and cut abruptly in front of the cam car before performing another brake check manoeuvre. Was It Necessary? TBH, the cam car's action was uncalled for. At 0:08 of the video, the taxi was already canceling his lane change manoeuvre when the cam car flashed his high beam. Essentially, the cam car's high beam did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but agitated the BMW driver. In similar scenarios, honking is the better solution to alert fellow drivers instead of high beams. After all, the intended purpose of a car horn is to alert motorists of impending car accidents/collisions. Netizens' Comments Exactly! It is important to check your blindspot before performing any lane change. No problem then want to find problem🤷‍♂️ I wouldn't bother retrieving my dashcam footage for something this trivial. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. Tyres are important to any vehicle because they are the sole point of contact between the road and your vehicle. Regardless of the type of tyre equipped, it is always important to drive prudently and refrain from speeding, especially during wet weather conditions. Watch what befalls this speeding Audi on a rainy day: Location The incident location is on the ECP towards KPE (ECP) at exit 14. The image below is what the area looks like during good weather. What Happened? An Audi TT was travelling on lane 1 of ECP at a relatively high speed while it was raining. Due to its speed and the wet road conditions, the Audi sports car lost traction to its wheels, causing it to aquaplane. Within seconds, it spun out of control - it slid across the expressway, from lane one to the last lane. Just when it was about to smash into the railings, the Audi TT gained some traction in its wheels and seemingly executed a well-performed J-turn (out of pure luck). Miraculously, the Audi TT emerged unharmed - WITHOUT A SINGLE SCRATCH. The Audi driver probably used up his entire year's worth of luck. Netizens' Comments Confirm shrink one. I am not surprised if he stops driving after this traumatic experience. NGL, this is the fastest way I have seen someone exit an expressway. How fast do y'all think he was going? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. Because there’s nothing more Christmas-sy than getting a surprise visit from the TP. In a video posted on Christmas Day, a reckless Honda Civic driver decided to make his own Fast and Furious sequel on the TPE. With the cam car travelling in the middle lane, the driver caught the white Honda Civic dashing through the (snow) roads on the first lane. The white car swiftly overtook its left silver taxi, squeezing itself just in front of the cam car. The driver then recklessly cut in front of the taxi and sped up, with its left indicator shining strongly in the night. The Honda’s crazy antics led to a few drivers slowing down on the middle lane. Surprisingly, the taxi didn’t waver once throughout the whole ordeal. Speeding and overtaking on the left? All jokes aside, the way this Honda Civic driver drove on the expressway is perilous and reckless. In Singapore, the speed limit for expressways and tunnels ranges from 80 to 90 km/h. Judging from the video, it looks like the Civic was doing more than the limit. Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 40km/h or less will be issued a fine ranging from $130 to $170 and up to 8 demerit points. On the other hand, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 40 km/h will have to be prosecuted in court. They will also be issued up to 24 demerit points. While overtaking on the left is not illegal, it is not recommended unless a road hog blocks the rightmost lane. Even so, overtaking on the left requires the middle and left lanes to be mostly unoccupied. Switching lanes and slotting yourself in spaces between two lanes is unsafe and could result in an accident if other drivers are not alert enough. 7. Have you ever had to carry your family’s groceries in one trip after they have been on an NTUC run? Usually, it takes two or three trips (with a trolley) to haul back all of the plastic bags but every once in a while, your parents might hit you with the “It’s fine. It’s not that heavy. You can carry all of them back with your hands.”. While you try your best to balance the hefty weight on your arms, your body might feel like it’s going to burst any second. Well, that’s what happened with this truck. On Saturday (4 Dec), a cam car caught the moment when the rear tailgate of a truck suddenly broke off the vehicle on the expressway. After snapping off, the heavy tailgate cartwheeled across the road, hitting the side of a white Audi TT. While the rest of the truck was encased by a cloud of soil, the cam car immediately came to a halt after witnessing the horrific hit. The cam driver hopes that his video will assist the white Audi TT in making an insurance claim for any damages done. How did this happen? Although this was not the first time we heard of a vehicle getting hit by some random part of another vehicle, incidents like this should not be a common occurrence. Last week, a tyre fell from a different truck and hit another vehicle on the PIE. While there were no injuries reported, the scene of a flying tyre is more than enough to traumatize a driver. Even though there are no solid details on what happened in this video, netizens were quick to speculate several possibilities. The first was that the truck driver failed to maintain his vehicle correctly and did not perform the necessary checks to ensure that his truck was safe to drive. The other possibility was that the load of soil that the truck was carrying was too heavy, resulting in the tailgate's sudden breakage. While we might not know for sure how this happened, we’re glad that nobody was severely injured from this potentially deadly incident. 8. A video of a flooded stretch of road made its way around social media this morning (13 June). In the short clip, vehicles are seen moving at a very slow pace due to the high water level and the inability to see lane markings on the road. The flood location is identified to be on the main road towards Punggol Road and TPE (PIE). This is how the 3-lane road looks like during normal conditions. After yesterday’s heavy rain (12 July), PUB issued a risk of flash floods occurring in several areas in Singapore. With thundery showers expected till mid-July, be prepared for any sightings of a flood. Netizens’ comments Full of sarcastic humour. IMO, this is one of those rare moments for SUVs to demonstrate their capability in Singapore. The optimism that we all wish to have. 😎 Not gonna lie, this person is asking the REAL QUESTION here. If you ever encounter a flood, here are some advice to note: Drive slowly and defensively. Do not speed or accelerate suddenly. Pump your brakes and monitor your engine performance after driving through the flood. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 9. Final link of new KPE and TPE interchange completed ahead of schedule sources: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/final-link-of-new-kpe-and-tpe-interchange-completed-ahead-of-schedule SINGAPORE - The final link of the interchange between Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) and Tampines Expressway (TPE) has been completed ahead of schedule, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean said in a Facebook post on Monday (Nov 9). Residents will have more direct links to and from the KPE and TPE with the new interchange, which was previously projected to be completed by June 2021. This will help improve traffic flow on the TPE as well as the network of roads that lead out of the growing Punggol Town area. Previous extensions of the interchange include a new road to TPE (towards the Seletar Expressway) that provided motorists an additional route between Pasir Ris and Punggol last November. Another extension to Punggol Central Road in November 2018 took motorists to Halus link, which then connects to the KPE (towards East Coast Parkway) and to the TPE (towards Changi). Mr Teo, who is also a Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, visited the new slip road that connects Punggol Central to TPE on Monday with Senior Minister of State for Transport and Sustainabilility and the Environment Amy Khor, as well as other MPs of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, Mr Desmond Tan, who is also Minister of State for Home Affairs and Sustainability and the Environment, and Ms Yeo Wan Ling. The link at Lorong Halus allows traffic from Pasir Ris and Punggol to flow smoothly to the westbound TPE towards Jurong. The six phases of the project took five years to complete, said Mr Teo. Parts of the roadway in the new extension rests on 2,000 specially coated piles, which are around 50m deep, he said.
  10. Even if you are in a hurry, this is not the way to ride. Spotted going around group chats in Whatapp, a video of a biker who tried to overtake and crashed has gone viral recently. The accident which happened on TPE near IKEA Tampines, in the direction of Pasir Ris, was captured by the camera car on 27 Jun 2020. In the video we can see this biker who apparently had no bike license or insurance crashing badly while he tried to overtake the camera car which was changing lanes. Check out how far his bike went ahead of the camera car after the collision! According to Sg Road Vigilante, the rider was later arrested. Thankfully, the rider escaped death and we hope the authorities deal with him properly for hurting the road divider that he crashed into. Check out what netizens have to say about this crash!
  11. Another high-performance car has been spotted in a crash while going at a good speed. Our latest post shows a Black Renault Megane RS going at a decent speed before losing control while stepping on his brakes. e166fed5-f4f3-4fbc-b00b-9de415dbd071.MP4 From the video, we can see that the driver was trying to avoid the road works in his lane but curiously, the car seems to have malfunctioned while he was on his brakes. If you looked at the video carefully, you could see straight black lines on the road, indicating that the tyres locked up before he slammed into the left side of the viaduct before bouncing across into the opposite barrier. While it did seem like the Megane was at or slightly above the speed limit, the crash is quite a mystery to us as under normal circumstances, there is more than sufficient space to stop or avoid the roadworks. What do you guys think? Could it be a brake failure, tyre puncture or a case of the driver falling asleep at the wheel? Let us know in the comments below!
  12. We know that all of us should be keeping a safe distance from each other in such times. But we reckon these guys that have been caught on video might have taken it abit too far. This video, as posted by SG Road Vigilante, shows a slow moving camera car (claimed to be doing 80km/h but it looks more like 60km/h to us) that was traveling on KPE towards TPE chancing upon a bunch or cars that were abit too keen to distance themselves from any traffic around them. Apparently this happened on the wee hours of 16th May morning and from what we can gather, the lead car is a R34 Nissan Skyline that zoomed past the camera car at a speed that seemed to double the legal speed limit of the KPE. Its hard to tell from the video but other than the Skyline, we could also identify a few other cars including a Suzuki Swift, a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Jetta (that might have been the same guy that was charged for organising illegal street racing), a Mitsubishi Evo 9 and a couple of Honda Civics. Interestingly, most of the comments were attacking the camera car for being slow. We wonder why. On the other hand, there will always be keyboard warriors that come out with weird and silly comments like the example below... 95563179_890011821514718_986642270115562833_n.mp4
  13. New Road Between Punggol & Pasir Ris Will Ease TPE Traffic From 17 Nov source: https://mustsharenews.com/pasir-ris-punggol-road/ New Link Between Punggol & Pasir Ris Will Replace Existing Slip Road For those who frequently travel between Punggol and Pasir Ris via the TPE, you would know the pain of being stuck in the jam during peak hours. Since the TPE is the quickest path connecting the two areas, motorists will often prefer to take that route. But the shortest path has become longer due to the large number of vehicles, which defeats the whole purpose. Good news for motorists though, because the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has built a new link road to help ease the traffic situation. New link road will extend from Pasir Ris Industrial Drive 1 According to LTA, the new link road opening on 17 Nov will extend from Pasir Ris Industrial Drive 1, providing an alternative for motorists travelling between Punggol and Pasir Ris. Currently, motorists travel between the two towns via the TPE, highlighted in green below. However, with the new link road, motorists can now travel between the two towns on a much shorter path than before. Here’s a video by LTA to help you better navigate the new route.
  14. At last, 14 more days! Punggol is getting its new road to TPE/KPE being Phase 1 starting 25 Nov 2018. Hope that it alleviates the peak hour jam (even on weekends). Kinda of excited as I'm personally affected by the jam everyday. Let's look at the situation after it opens. But then again, it is during school holidays and the real situation should be reflected next year when school reopens. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/new-punggol-link-road-to-tpe-kpe-10908120
  15. Wife was on her way to work on TPE after punggol exit when she saw a motorbike banged onto a car behind us ( through the side mirror) before knocking onto our car and fled the scene. If your car happened to be banged by this motorbike, kindly PM me and we can perhaps consolidate our video proofs to make a report against him and make him accountable for his action if possible. Thanks.
  16. For those who frequent these route especially after and before the tunnel near TPE. Once spotted a TP car hidden behind the defunct exit few meters before TPE/SLE junction. and also toward KPE tunnel, one TP car stop at chevron where Buangkok E Drive join with TPE, a TP standing there holding a laser gun.
