  2. This week, we test drove ‘Hot Hatch’ from Hyundai. We had so much fun with 2019 Hyundai Veloster N. Is N good enough against Honda Civic Type-R and Golf GTi? If you haven’t you have to learn how to drive manual, because it is so much fun! With 2.0L turbo and 6 speed short throw shifter, it was a blast, let's meet the Veloster N. https://youtu.be/UU0W2FO2ISw 2019 Hyundai Veloster N -2.0T: 275hp (6,000rpm) / 260lb.ft. 3. New 3 door car is here. http://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-hyundai-veloster-priced/ Hyundai has released pricing for the 2019 Veloster, with the base model equipped with the standard six-speed manual starting at $19,385 including destination. The Veloster Turbo starts at $23,785 for the R-Spec trim, which comes only with the manual. All Veloster models now come with an independent suspension setup all around. Standard equipment on the base Veloster includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera and two USB ports. Moving up to the Premium grade adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, a sunroof, an eight-speaker Infinity audio system, blind spot warning, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The base Veloster and Veloster Premium are powered by a 2.0-liter I-4 with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque paired to either a six-speed manual or for an extra $1,000, a six-speed automatic. EPA fuel economy ratings are 25/33 mpg city/highway for the stick and 27/34 mpg for the automatic. Moving up to the Veloster Turbo R-Spec gets you all the standard features from the Veloster Premium and builds on it with high beam assist and LED low beam headlights but loses the sunroof and blind spot warning. Moving up to the Turbo model with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic does give you back those features plus rear cross-traffic alert and lumbar adjustment for the driver seat. The range-topping turbo Ultimate is the only one available with a two-tone roof, full leather upholstery, a head-up display, built-in navigation, and adaptive cruise control if yo opt for the automatic. The most expensive Veloster model, the automatic-equipped Turbo Ultimate, rings in at $29,035. Turbo variants come with their own unique suspension and steering calibrations, and an active sound enhancer that pipes in engine sounds through the speakers. Manual-equipped Turbo models comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer performance tires while automatic-equipped ones make do with all-season rubber. Under the hood of the Veloster Turbo is an updated 1.6-liter turbo-four with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft, and an overboost feature that increases torque to 202 lb-ft for a short time. EPA fuel economy ratings for the Veloster Turbo are 26/33 mpg with the six-speed manual and 28/34 mpg with the automatic. Hyundai hasn’t released pricing for the range-topping Veloster N yet, which is expected to arrive before the end of 2018. Like the i30N in other markets, the Veloster N is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four with up to 275 hp and 260 lb-ft. It comes exclusively with a six-speed manual with automatic rev matching. Adaptive dampers also come standard and an optional Performance package adds an electronically controlled mechanical limited-slip differential and 19-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P-Zero summer performance tires specific to Hyundai’s N cars. 4. When it comes to automatic transmissions, four speed auto transmissions are fast getting replaced with more advanced auto transmissions. More automakers are introducing six, seven and even eight speed automatic transmission into their vehicles nowadays. These introductions are made mainly for fuel efficiency reasons, to get more kilometres out of their fuel consumption usage. But, there are also some automakers such as Nissan, who are moving towards the usage of continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). But that is not the case for Hyundai as the Korean automaker has preferred dual clutch transmissions over continuously variable transmissions. Mike O

  7. The Hyundai Veloster (pictured above) has just been released recently and it is one fine looking hatchback. And for those who craves for more power, there is a turbo version (pictured below). There are rumours going around that Hyundai is working on a more powerful version of the Veloster and it would put the car in the hot hatch category with the likes of the Volkswagen GTI and Ford Focus ST. The Hyundai Veloster Turbo shares many parts with the normal Veloster model (for example, same suspension set-up) and some believed that Hyundai has left the Veloster Turbo in this manner to make way for more improvements. The Veloster Turbo currently delivers around 186bhp with roughly 265Nm of torque. Pretty good from a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine. If these rumours are to be true, we should expect an upgrade in suspension set-up, preferably with mechanically adjustable dampeners and independent rear suspension instead of the current V-beam rear set-up. A lower ride would make sense if the car is going to get more power. As for the engine, I am not really sure if more power could be extracted out from the current 1.6-litre turbocharged engine. One option is to feature the 2.0-litre engine from the Hyundai Genesis Coupe which is able to deliver around 274bhp and with 373Nm of torque (with premium unleaded fuel). But it is not known if this option would be financially feasible for the company. Maybe it is still possible to extract a bit more power from the current 1.6-litre powerplant. The Veloster Turbo has just reached our shores and I feel that this is the type of car local consumers would like to take a much closer look at; reasonable engine displacement size with a rather powerful engine. And a more powerful version could probably take on the continental hatchbacks that has dominated the hot hatch segment for many years. Photo credit: Net Car Show
  8. The new Hyundai Elantra was only released worldwide less than one year ago. It is a good-looking mid-sized four-door sedan if you were to compare it with other Asian models from the same category. Sometime early this year, there have been reports that Hyundai will be releasing a coupe version of the current-generation Elantra. Hyundai dismissed those reports and denied any of it. But spy shots of an Elantra Coupe test car have surfaced in the World Wide Web. Somehow, it is rather confirmed that Hyundai is releasing a coupe version of the Elantra and judging from the pictures, we might see it real soon. The picture shows a heavily camouflaged car, most of the exterior is covered. It is clear that the car

  10. Hyundai Motor Company plans to expand its turbo engine family with the introduction of a brand new 1.6L T-GDI turbo engine. Based on the existing 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engine which currently propels the Korean market Hyundai Avante, the unit uses a twin-scroll turbocharger which improves the engine response and performance. At the same time, the turbocharger increases efficiency at low engine speeds, improving combustion efficiency and lowers emissions. The 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 208 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 265Nm of torque. The output puts the power plant on par with the VW Group's 2.0 liter TFSI unit that goes into the Golf GTI and Audi A3 models. According to Hyundai, the all-new 1.6L T-GDI turbo engine will be available in the new Hyundai Veloster sports coupe starting from 2012. Going forward, it will also appear in the upcoming 2013 Hyundai ix30 and next generation Kia cee

  14. This is one of the very first spy shot of the all-new 2011 Hyundai Veloster coupe, which is scheduled to go on sale in late 2010 or early 2011 and is expected to replace the Tiburon coupe. Inspired by the two-door Veloster concept car from the 2007 Seoul auto show, the production-ready Veloster coupe packs attractive exterior body style with slopping roof-line, short front and rear overhangs. The production car will also retain the Saab-style wrap around windscreen. Clearly visible on the test car are the suicide doors previewed on the concept which mimic those on the MINI Clubman. According to John Krafcik, the CEO of Hyundai Motor America, the production-ready model will look 70-80% like the Veloster concept and will sport a surprise bodystyle feature that has never before been seen in the small car segment. Codenamed FS, the all-new Hyundai Veloster coupe is tipped to feature a host of new powertrain technologies under the hood, including a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology and dual-clutch automatic transmission. The showroom-ready Hyundai Veloster will be powered by 1.6L four-cylinder GDI engine that churns out an impressive 140+ horsepower. The entry-level powerplant is expected to achieve over 40 mpg. Another engine option, which is also rumoured to appear under the hood of new Hyundai Veloster, is a 175-hp turbocharged 1.6L gasoline engine and is likely be paired with Hyundai
