  1. See lah, now so many people cut queue on the Causeway that others need to do things like this. What happened? A Honda Jazz driver on the Woodlands Checkpoint crossing has apparently had enough bad experiences, as they have resorted to keeping their door open to block people from cutting the queue. This has since gone viral as people laughed at the idea, or mocked it. Though in the wake of many drivers caught on camera misbehaving, maybe this will catch on? Online chatter At least a few people thought it was a good idea. Others came up with alternate reasons for why the door was open. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR - Too Low to Go, lowered Opel Astra HB's foiled by Woodlands Checkpoint's speed bump Roadblock blues for other commuters, ‘suay’ max for car owner… Watch this 37 second clip to see the disintegrated car exhaust. What Happened? A lowered Opel Astra HB was caught up in an incident at the Woodlands Checkpoint yesterday, after its exhaust system was torn off while attempting to navigate a speed bump. Some netizens commented that the vehicle, which had lowered suspension, was moving slowly towards the checkpoint when the driver failed to clear the speed bump, causing the underside of the car to scrape against the concrete. In a matter of seconds, the car's exhaust was ripped off, sending debris flying. Authorities were quick to respond, with checkpoint staff redirecting traffic and alerting the traffic police. It was alleged that the car's lowered suspension had caused it to be too low to clear the speed bump, resulting in the exhaust system being ripped out. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has warned that vehicle modifications, including lowering the suspension, must comply with safety standards and guidelines, and that failure to do so could result in accidents and injuries. Online Chat If you want to mod your car, at least make sure you’re able to get past all these bumpy roads lah… Not the best idea to drive a lowered car through multiple speed bumps on a congested road. There goes its resale value in future… Low suspension is good for flat roads but doesn’t work well with humps. Hard and expensive lesson to learn. Takeaway The LTA also advised all motorists to exercise caution when approaching speed bumps and to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on a journey. With Hari Raya coming up, the checkpoint authorities have also reminded motorists to plan their journeys carefully and to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and safe. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. Photo Source: Facebook comment It is 4am now and the comment section on ICA's page is still blowing up. No news from any news media yet, no further update from ICA on Facebook.
  4. TL;DR – A Toyota Voxy with Singaporean plates plays the brake check game and blocks a Malaysian Van at the causeway checkpoint (Malaysian side) and ends up getting intentionally rammed in the rear. It’s common sense to behave yourself when you’re in someone else’s territory. But apparently, this Voxy driver did not get the memo. The Story According to the caption of the video, The Voxy was playing the braking game and blocking the Malaysian Van. This then provoked the Van into reversing and intentionally accelerating into the rear of the Voxy. Insurance How? Some netizen raised the issue of claiming insurance from the Van. They are not wrong. Even if the accident happens on Singapore soil, it’s extremely difficult to claim insurance from a Malaysian vehicle. Online Chatter One does not go into a foreign country and display their ego. It won’t end well. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  5. Hi All, Just wanted to share the unfair treatment I received while at ICQ Woodlands yesterday. I arranged to pick up my new passport at ICA, Lavender at 2 PM because my old passport has ran out of pages before expiry. Went down to ICA at around 1:35 PM and got by passport at 1:45 PM. Efficient I must say. Told the counter officer to check on my new passport is OK before I collect them. She did the test in my presence and says that it is ok. After collection, me and my wife decided to head to JB to buy some mooncakes as Mid-Autumn Festival is two weeks from now. Drove up to ICQ, Woodlands and at the counter, I was told by the Officer that he was not able to clear my passport despite several tries. Told to wait and we waited for a good 15 minutes. Ask the officer again and he replied that he was unable to process my passport and to wait for an escort to escort me to the office where they will do the back end processing. Lan Lan, continue waiting and about 10 mins later, another officer came along and ask me to park my car. Of which I did and alighted, he asked for my car keys with both the passports of me and wife already with him. Followed him to a small office of which, there were a group of 3 already there before us. Was told to wait and to get a seat within the office which we again comply. Shortly, my wife ask to go to the washroom but was brushed aside by the officer at the door that we are to wait inside the office and not suppose to go anywhere else. This is when I start to fume up. I walked to the officer and asked if we have committed any crime, if we have not, why are we treated like criminals and deprive of our basic needs. I must admit that I raised my voice slightly. Upon hearing this, another officer intervened and ordered the officer to escort my wife to the rest room. At this point, I asked the Officer again, what is wrong with my passport. I have just collected my passport from ICA and show him my booking appointment slip together with my old passport. I also shared with him that at collection, the counter lady did a check on my new passport and confirm that it is already activated. If the computer systems at ICQ Woodlands cannot process my passport than it is very much an IT issue which is of no fault of mine. Even so, I rendered my co-operation to them fully but why am I and my wife being treated as if we were convicted criminals. He tried explaining to me that it is for security reasons and so on. I replied that I am fully appreciative of their concerns on security and even when my passport cannot be processed, it does not mean that I am a criminal or a terrorist. Even if they classified me as a suspect, they are not supposed to pass judgement on me until the point that I have been proven guilty. The officer subsequently relented and attended to my case first. At the end, we left that office before the group of 3 who have been in the office before we do. But I still buay song because not a single apology was offered despite the inconvenience created. Was really pissed off by this whole episode.
  6. From Feb 1, the practice of using water barricades to segregate traffic along the Woodlands Checkpoint viaduct will cease, said Traffic Police said in statement on Monday. Traffic arrangements along this road remain unchanged. The Woodlands Checkpoint viaduct continues to be opened only for motorcycles during the evening peak hours, from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. All other vehicles will continue to use the Bukit Timah Expressway's Exit 10B to proceed to Woodlands Checkpoint during this period. Motorists can find out which lane they should use from overhead signages along the road. "In the interest of road safety, all motorists should always abide by road traffic rules and to exercise patience, consideration, and safety on the roads," added the police.
