Pronouncing some words

hmmm.. i don't really know how to pronounce car names.. like Nissan Prairie (or something like that).. and also Hyundai Tucson.. confused.gifconfused.gif

 

Prairie=pray ree

tucson=tuck son

from bukit batok that road straight up lead to bukit timah fire station one ma...behind the autobac is bukit batok nature reserve rite?beside tot got shell station also??me always say there is bukit timah coz toh yi just right turn up only [laugh]

tucson- "too-sone" silent C (if aust ads are anything to belive)

i've heard Tuk-Son.. Tark-Son.. many la..

 

Tuscani also same problem.. Task-kani, Tus-kani..

Hmmm... i think prairie can be pronounced as p-rei-ree...

 

u can try out this neat site www.m-w.com some words got pronounciation one man...

 

buy i think Nissan's Sylphy sound strange too... always remind me of STD syphilis... probably becoz of the s, y, p, l combination

Its treh-no.

 

trueno is the spanish word for thunder (quite appropriate actually [laugh]) which was picked by toyota as the name for their hachi-roku.

 

technically it should be pronounced as :trrreh-no"

hachi roku... easiest... direct pronounciation, and sounds a lot cooler than tofu car or eighty-six [rolleyes]

 

btw hachi is 8 roku is 6 [laugh]

hyundai tucson should be pronounced as tark-sern but nissan prairie i dunno. i dun even think i know how to spell prairie!

 

my colleague pronounces as pariah [sly][laugh]

Well, yes and no. My wife's a native spanish speaker, and yes, when spoken fast, it does sound like "trrreh-no".

Technically, however, it should be TRUE-EH-NO.
