Need advice on HEAT.. i cannot tahan anymore!

I just changed a new job and they provide us with a open space parking area, as I'm new, I suay suay kena those lot without shade. Everyday during lunch time I had to waste 10-15mins to wait for the heat to cool down.

 

The seat and steering wheel is like on fire. I did not install any v-cool or sun cool for my car, not too sure about those stuff. But I need some advice now, like does v cool really works at all? I have been hearing about them alot before. I will mostly install it for whatever cost.. as my current lot is free, I need to pay $25 for parking fee at non-staff parking lot everyday.

so its worth it.

i am sorry to say that no heat rejection film will be able to help u. heat films work only for short durations. if u park in the sun in excess of 1hr etc ur car will still be hot.

 

the way out for u is very simple...just invest in the 4-5 dollar sun shades...those reflective ones etc that u manually put on ur windscreen. takes at most 30 sec to put up and ur car will not feel buring hot....just a bit warm

You may consider to get the film with max UV & IR rejection, plus sunshade as suggested, these will help reduce the intensity of sun onto the seats, steering & dashboard. It will help, but there is no way to completely block the sun, the heat still comes in through the metal.

Actually window films does work, to an extent. I got a black car and am using 3M. I have another vehicle, a van with no window film. Big difference when getting into the car vs van. Not sure about other makes of window films though.

You might want to consider buying a big piece of nylon or cloth to cover your car... (Sorry i dunno how to say it)

What is the colour of your car? If it is white or silver it will be less hot

If there are taps nearby you can also splash water on the outside of your car and let it cool. hope that works

If you are really really despo and if you can claim fuel costs from your company then leave you car on until you need it

my car is dark navy blue.. adding fuel to fire lol, I've filed a request to company personal department to request for a switch of parking.. I've suggest that they make those HOT spot to some lorry loading and unloading bay instead.

 

If they still dont budge, I'll threaten them that I'll quit instead.. I'm sure they sure scare want.. maybe make a VIP lot for me . Well.. j/k, but I think I'll try to get v cool, some flim and add a cover, I already had shade on.

I am using Huper Optiks, and my car is parked from 7am to 6pm directly under the sun normally. Although the seats and steering feel hot, but they are not unbearable...

my 2 cts, check the position of the carpark. your worst night mare is to park under the trees in such situation becos like u say, it's hot and during such weather birds tend to sh1t a lot. precaution b4 parking there, check those car who park there or the floor for white spots.

 

your 2nd worst nitemare is to parallel park betw cars, becos although the other car may shield you but at noon where heat is most intense, the heat will radiate and bounce fr floor, between car, and this heat is more intense then you park at the most remote area.

 

installing tinting helps partially, you can forget abt these claims how good these are. UV ray comes in a wider spectrum then visible light. most of these tints can cut off the lower spectrum but not majority of those in the visible light or higher spectrum, becos these sputtering process of the coating to the film rely on absorbitivity, once the cell has fully absorbed the heat, it can no longer protect. the other problem is also becos these visible lights r in short wave and once it penetrate thru the glass, they become longer wave and gets trapped in the car. wat you experienced is called greenhouse effect.

 

to alleviate your problem you can add tinting but it helps abit. you can also add solid shades which absorb the heat as it pemeates thru the glass. if you got window visor, consider lowering your window partially to let the trapped heat dissipate thru exchanging of the hotter gas in the car flowing out.

my car has rikecool on it - it's as good as vkool. also, to prevent from heat build up, I always leave a small gap open at 2 back windows to let the hot air out with the parked car, (my car has visors) it works wonders.. temperature difference between fully closed windows and small gap is at least 30 degrees difference, and the steering wheel doesn't get scarringly hot. do one window is not good enough must have 2 for cross ventilation.

agree w u. those films do not work. heat build-up is a matter of duration n not intensity.

get sunshades / steering wheel covers (not those that u cover e 'handle', those that u cover up e whole steering wheel). at least u can sit on grab hold onto e steering.

my advise is that you go for vkool, 2x sunshade, i sunshade cover for steering wheel and lastly sun visor

 

For VKOOL:

 

use vk70 for front 2 windows and front windscreen

use vk40 for rear remaining panels.

 

Sunshade: can get from DIY stores at IMM

 

install sun visor:

wind down your window to about 2 fingers gap after you park your car. rain won't be able to come in after sun visor is installed.

 

 

After these 3 things have been done, i can assure you that your car will feel at least 70% less heat than now...

Just solar film alone will not really help much as stated by a lot of others. You need a combination of things to reduce the heat by certain amount. Solar can only protect up to a certain duration before it start boiling again.

 

And for the sugggestion of cooling the car with water, I wouldn't suggest that as you will cause water mark to your car and it's messy as well.
