Can't redline even though pedal floored and engine is "warmed" up..

i have a problem here.. just now drove to pick eldest bro up from work at Ghim Moh.. i live in Bt Batok.. the distance is around 8km..

 

here is how it went.. i started the engine cold.. it is in the "C" region.. so i just slowly drove, i noticed that i cannot bring the Tachometer up to 3/4, just slightly more than 1/2 after flooring.. i thought it could be becos of the cold engine..

 

when i reached ghim moh, around 20mins later.. the engine is in the normal position, which is in the centre for my case.. so i tried to floor it.. again, it is still slightly more than 1/2 of the tacho.. what could be wrong??

 

anyway, today dad just got the brakes done.. is it becos of the brakes that stop it from going higher up??

 

i am pretty concerned about this.. becos gear shifting is very much affected.. the gears are too wide apart, so not hitting the right RPM to shift will have difficulties in picking up as dad needs to ferry some stuffs for work at the back..

do u smell any smell around your wheels area, if the brakes are restricting u will feel the heat and the smell will be there.

 

try see if your fuel pathway is choke a not.

no burning smell.. oh ya.. to add on to the description..

 

- yesterday the water level in the radiator went low and the engine temp almost hit "H".. when i open up to "air" the engine.. i hear a Tic Tic Tic Tic Tic sound.. continous type until it got softer and softer and no more..

do a simple test . During cold start , unscrew your raditator cap and try restart the engine... if water splash out that mean ...get ready for overhual.... casket gone ...

ticking sound all car also will have when stop after driving for a distance. cos hot expand cold liao contract this is science.

 

try wat the other bro say see if will blow out the water. and got white smoke when u drive?

check your engine oil see if is brown like tea with milk color.

no water splash.. no Teh colour in engine oil..

should be fuel insufficent or somewhere clog. but change brake pad if jam will have heat and smell if dont have mean not brakes liao cannot be fuel line too.

if its a diesel, try to wash your exhaust, floor it and hold it for 3to 5 seconds, and flush it again. repeat this process. you should be able to rev it to near red line

the problem is that diesel need a high temperature to combust. unburnt diesel would cause the exhaust to choke up as it contains sulphur.
