Kyousuke Neutral Newbie November 21, 2006 Share November 21, 2006 I'm planning to get a 2 year old Mk V golf 1.6 FSI. My idea is to upgrade the rims to 17" I would like to enquire what is the PCD of the rims I should be looking at? 5/114.3 5/100 or 5/120 In addition, I understand the GB is a 6 speed auto. Is it a DSG or normal tranny? Also what are the areas I should be on the lookout for in terms of wear and tear. ↡ Advertisement
Koolaba 1st Gear November 21, 2006 Share November 21, 2006 Hi, The Golf V 1.6 FSI comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission, according to the info I have found here: http://www.volkswagen.de/vwcms_publish/vwc...detail.0.4.html I am not too sure about the specifications for the rims. Lightspeed Clutched November 21, 2006 Share November 21, 2006 Probably... you might want to check out the SACHS website ... Eibach, Bilstein, KW and Koni would probably have them too
Magfocus 5th Gear November 21, 2006 Share November 21, 2006 112x5? Isn't that an odd size?
Fluffy Clutched November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 same as the octavias and also passats i i'm not wrong I believe all the A5 platform cars have the same PCD for rims including the A3, so rims should not be a problem for european brands like OZ, MOMO, etc.
Try_conti 2nd Gear November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 FSI ah ? pumping RON98 all the way leh .....

Lightspeed Clutched November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html Look under WHEEL INFORMATION ... 5 is the number of bolts/studs 112 would be the PCD (Diameter - one stud across to the other)
Magfocus 5th Gear November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 Right..not familiar with VAG cars lah..
Try_conti 2nd Gear November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 hmmm, good read by the way, do you use the 'Max. pressure -10%' theory for tyre pressure ? The sticker for my Octy says 195/65R15 shud pump 200/220 (front/rear). Not too sure if this contribute to my FC of 9.2km/l. If can get it above 10km/l, happy liao. Lightspeed Clutched November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 Nope ... my tyre's max pressure is 44psi ... I've been pumping 36psi so far, not -10% (39.6psi) Perhaps I should try lol
Rickster 5th Gear November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 FSI ah ? pumping RON98 all the way leh .....
Try_conti 2nd Gear November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 So far I only tried once on 205/225 (front/rear) & already find it quite hard. Can't imagine 'max. pressure - 10%' ! Maybe rationale is that the tyre would be harder, less rolling resistance & hence better FC ??
Lightspeed Clutched November 22, 2006 Share November 22, 2006 Easier to fly off the roads as well? ↡ Advertisement
