What is the purpose of this glass?

The reason that manufacturers provide these triangular glass especially for vehicles with a steeper sloping front screen unlike the standard saloon is to enable the front doors window glass to slide into the door panel.

It follows the same principle as the rear doors.

Its a cheaper piece of glass to break in case you leave your keys inside [laugh]

Every cars has small blind spots at the front. It is meant to mitigate this problem. Imagine you can't even see pedestrians attempting cross the zebra crossing esp from your left before making a right turn..

I notice that Honda cars that have the front edge of the windscreen above the wheel arch in their design also includes this triangle piece

Think about it. If the window is above the wheel arch, how would the door line match up with the acute part of the window? I think that's the reason why. I don't think It's neither good nor bad but I find it pretty useful when mounting a gps on it.
