Interested to get the adaptor for ipod for 6850, however can the headunit control the ipod? thoughts of changing to another headunit which can direct connect to ipod without buying the adaptor. Any suggestion?

I am also looking for one, but it is cd-ib100. Btw, what's the difference between cd-ib100 and cd-ib100 II? Is II an improvement over cd-ib100 or it only works with specific Pioneer HU?

i'm not too sure about 6850.

For my Pioneer HU, i did't go for the original Pioneer Ipod adpator (i think its $100++ excl installation). i went SLS, buy a $5 Aux cable (1 end got 2 color- either red/white or yellow/white, and other end earphone jack that plugs into my ipod earphone jack.).

i pushed out my entire HU, and simply plug the 2 color plug in.

can only control from my ipod though and not from HU. anyway the sound quality sucks big time.. sound is worst than from my radio. i am glad that my method is only $5, and i did not spend a few hundred to buy the original adaptor.

Difference with you method is that you are getting the sound from your Earphone Jack,

The iPod adaptor gets the sound direct from the Port below the iPod, thus bypassing any sort of amplification and distortion. This will produce a much better sound quality that your Earphone jack method.

Also the iPod adaptor will charge your iPod as well, so you will not need to take it out to charge.

adapter arrived and installed... working very well with P80RS.

HU allows to select albums, songs, artists, genre etc... as in yr iPod.

adapter also charges ipod when plugged.

do note that iPod EQ does not work, so Pioneer advise to set it to "Off".

also note that once plugged in, all features on the iPod cannot be controlled... but i read it somewhere that there's a series of steps tt you could follow to allow you to control the iPod when plugged. will update once i find the webpage.

if you hv a Pioneer HU with iPod adapter ready, this adapter works wonderfully with yr iPod. no more carrying CDs ard, you can hv 100s of CDs ripped into yr iPod.... in ACC, MP3 or ALE, depending on yr SQ acceptance level, and iPod size of cos

cheers
