Turbocharged
You can expect prices of the Lancer EX to tumble when the CS-platform Lancer finally exits the Mitsubishi showrooms after hanging around in some shape or form since 2000.

If Nissan's experience with the Sunny and Sylphy is anything to go by, it only shows that in this uncomfortable middle ground between entry level and executive buyers, the entry level still wins out, and the executive buyers go elsewhere. In Nissan's case they go to the Cefiro. And the budget buyers keep buying the Sunny, which leaves the Sylphy with precious little to play for.

I wonder if the Lancer EX is going to be large enough to play ball in the 2 litre executive class with the other competitors?

I will buy the earlier version.

And as it turned out the Lancer Mivec MR had overstated HP claims and was dynoed at around 130hp at the wheels which translated to 145-150hp at the crank, quite far short of its claimed 170hp. Then it turned out the HP claim was made based on the car being fuelled and run on high octane Japanese fuel, which the engine management happily took advantage of.

i know but especially in singapore where we pay huge taxes for cars , a small compromise in model type can mean huge savings - that was the point i was trying to bring across. eg a car in uk that costs 2k pounds more will mean a difference of almost 12 - 15 k in sg, especially with our dealerships making huge margins from each car sale, unheard of in many countries.

of course the market is segmented to those who will pay the premium and those who won't but conventional wisdom will say no.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the dashboard plasticky and a little cheap-looking (esp. the aircon knobs...)

(edited)

If S$62.9K is considered overpriced for a newly launched made-in-Japan 1.5l sedan, then what does it say about an aging "end-of-lifespan" Thai assembled Japanese 1.6l sedan selling for S$59.8K?

yes and no

for the price of that hiv sounding car and its specs, or rather the lack of it..*cough* drum brakes *cough* , nothing much going for it except in car navigation, furthermore the looks are disgusting

EX should have a ready stream of buyers since its a nice platform, much larger and better speced

for mit, next step above lancer is outlander already, there is no large saloon, as compared to cefiro where it fills the large saloon segment and the aids infected offspring is trying to be a half way b/w mid and large

Agree. Btw is the EX sitting on a completely new platform or still the over 14yrs old one? My guess it is sitting on the completely new one cos it has finally grown overall.
