i saw jacelyn tay driving a CLK320 2 days ago and it spurred me to check out the specs of the merc - surprisingly it does the century sprint faster than the T4 despite the specs

CLK320 - weighs 1920kg, 218 HP 310Nm : 0-100 7.4 secs

T4 - weighs 1255kg, 200 HP 300Nm : 0-100 8.0 secs

what gives? confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

Jacelyn Tay .... was declared a bankrupt 2 years ago right ?? Her bridal salon business failed if I am not mistaken.

I remember last time my office was 2 doors away from her salon. One of her workers .... her huge (.)(.) was the HITMAN's nosebleed [nosebleed][nosebleed]

Practically bled to death everyday going to work ..... especially when Jacelyn parks her car at Tanjong Pagar Rd , and this assistant comes out to help her carry things from the car into the salon. [nosebleed][nosebleed]

She would take a box and hold it close to her chest ...... DAMN I WANNA BE THAT BOX !!! [shocked][shocked][shocked]

[nosebleed][nosebleed]

First off, the kerb weight of the CLK320 is 1605kg and 7.4secs is probably a little optimistic. Most of the timings I've seen on the web are closer to 7.9s. The CLK also has a 5-speed transmission vs the T4's 4-speed so it probably has lower ratios which helps in the century sprint. And lastly, the CLK does have a much bigger engine than the T4.. like they say "there's no replacement for displacement" [sly]

Then again there are T4s with 5-speed auto boxes. My reference was a Motoring article which quoted a 4 speeder. Is yours 4 or 5 speed?

Turbocharged
(edited)

All other things being more or less equal, a turbo 2 litre usually can match a non-turbo 3 litre++ due to the "1.5-factor" in power outputs between to the two......

Yup I'm sure they can even exceed a factor of 1.5 if boost pressure is higher.

What about turbo lag.. do you think that is a factor that couldn't count against a turbo engine's performance in a century sprint? And let's say both cars have auto transmissions so they can't rev up the engine and dump the clutch?

ps: see if I can wake up early to join you guys for breakfast. Got coffee to claim or not? [sly]
