Kinetics Neutral Newbie November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Hi all Am a newbie in property, not sure where to ask so back to the usual place. My aged parents thinking of renting out their newly renovated 2-floor semi-d (about 3k sqf), to move in to my place to help take care of my baby , as well as getting some pocket money . Is it easily to find a tenant for a landed property? It's located near Bishan MRT. Thanks all for the advice again. ↡ Advertisement
Albeniz Turbocharged November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Students or co-workers like to group together and rent a big house with the cost spreaded out among themselves.
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 (edited) Think it's easier to ask a agent to do it on the behalf of you My friend rented a couple of his landed property out and is on contract basis i.e 1 year, 2 years ... etc to those Ang Mos ... But at times, the tenant might dragged the monthly payment during the last few months if he is the 'Chow Kwan' aka smelly type ... Mach Clutched November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Suggest you do not rent to groups of students, or to companies looking to use your house as worker accomodation/ equipment storage even though they may be willing to pay more. These will trash your newly renovated house in double quick time. And you will get no love from your (ex) neighbours too

Guyver 1st Gear November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Yes .... usually if rent out to students ... the house will be in condition. Rent out to expats is the best ....
Albeniz Turbocharged November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Your parents' house is located in a good place. Should be able to get tenants easily.
Mach Clutched November 23, 2007 Share November 23, 2007 Expats will sometimes want to have dogs, esp if its a landed property with garden. So must be prepared. Also, for landed property need to state clearly that the tenant is to maintain the garden, esp if got carpet grass or nice landscaping plants. Cos many of them don't bother and the whole place looks like a jungle after a year.
Kinetics Neutral Newbie November 24, 2007 Author Share November 24, 2007 Thanks all for the advice. Is it easy to find a tenant? How long lag time got to wait? Any idea how much can I fetch?

Ultramega 1st Gear November 24, 2007 Share November 24, 2007 if you are finding tenants yourself, you must prepare a tenancy agreement 1st. if not you can't close the deal even if you have interested tenants. ↡ Advertisement
