Two engines infuse Genesis Coupe with performance. The 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine delivers an estimated 306 horsepower (310 horsepower using premium fuel) and 263 lb.-ft. of torque on regular unleaded. This engine will launch the Genesis Coupe from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under six seconds. To maximize the power band, the 3.8-liter engine utilizes Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) on intake cam shafts and a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at both low and high RPM. The better breathing results in outstanding off-the-line acceleration and passing performance, and remarkable fuel efficiency. The V6 engine uses an alloy block and cylinder heads for lighter weight and thermal efficiency, and features timing chains with no scheduled maintenance.

 

The turbocharged, intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder benefits from CVVT on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. The 2.0-liter turbo generates an estimated 212 horsepower (223 horsepower using premium fuel) and 217 lb.-ft. of torque. It also features a cast-aluminum cylinder block and cylinder head. Both engines feature a free flowing dual cat-back exhaust and an available limited slip differential to put the power to the ground.

Hmmm... The engines look suspiously like the one found in the mitsubishi eclipse especially the 3.8L V6.

Mitsubishi actaully help in developing Hyundai Engines.

So you can say u actually get a Mit engine in a Hyundai. So reliability is there.

err .. Golf GTi also 2L TC ... 200hp "only".

Focus ST 2.5L TC also around there "only".

 

Having said that ... the new wrx sti has 300hp from 2.5L and cost $116k.

 

I really hope Komoco price the Genesis Coupe properly if they bring it in.

Hopefully less than $80k

i think the type r can eat the 2.0L TC hyundai for lunch anytime

A real sports car is the one that been put into the track and participated in endurance races and rallies, not those souped up TCed sedan with high horsepower for the street racerboys. If like that, any car manufacturers can claim that their high horsepower cars are the fastest and the best. This is also one of those reasons that European car reviewers like to mock at Lexus that it has no pedigree like the BMW and the Mercz. So what it has good performance and drive like a sewing machine, it is still a street car.

at what rev?

 

its well-known that CTR is fun to drive only in the track where u have ample opportunity to hi-rev to hit the peak bhp/torque

 

in normal street, the likes of TCed like WRX etc can eat CTR for all 3 meals including supper.
