Audi Quattro Coupe Turbo - the original Quattro, and perhaps, the best

 

 

BMW 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile', in the days before the M's

Another Classic: The LANCIA DELTA HF EVO

 

Cast iron block, aluminum head construction.

Transversally mounted.

1995 cm3 84mm bore 90mm stroke, 4 inline cylinders, water cooled.

200 Bhp@5750 rev/min, 304 NM@3500rev/min.

Garrett AiResearch T03 (60/50) oil lubricated, water cooled turbo (1.0 bar max. pressure) and intercooler.

2 OHC belt driven. 4 valves per cylinder

Oil cooler.

Weber-Marelli IAW integral engine management (injection and ignition). Compression ratio 8:1

Anyway, here's another of my fav's - not exactly a classic in the strictest sense of the word, but I figured it would be one someday.......

 

Audi RS2 Avant

Classic understated looks by Audi; Power by Porsche

Built at Porsche's factory at Zuffenhausen, Germany

Porsche modified engine, 968 Club Sport brakes, 17" wheels, door mirrors, special dampers

0-30mph in 1.5 seconds (quicker than McLaren F1); 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds

(0-60mph time of 4.8 as measured by Autocar in 3rd august 1994 issue)

163mph max speed

Quattro all-wheel-drive

6-speed manual trans w/Torsen center diff

It's the most powderful when it's the Sledgehammer.

 

Callaway Engineering built a one-off, that hit 254.76mph/410kmh at a conservative 898hp at the flywheel in 1989.
