Looking to replace the 7-8 years old Philip LCD TV in my living room. Heard korean brands LCD TV is good. Any recommendations for LED TV around 50" for a budget of $1.2K?

Carousell got someone selling new LG 55" OLED TV at $2k...

Damned cheap...

My understanding is that Panasonic don't really make their own TV nowadays. Its just some manufacturer ? Sharp who sticks their label on. I may be mistakened though.

Not sure about that. My Panasonic plasma and LED have been quite OK to date.

Have seen 49" LEDs going for < $700 at Giant, think Toshiba and Sharp.

Not a Samsung fan.  [laugh]

For electronics stuff, I'll steer to the Japanese brands.

Am a simple TV user, just watch TV only, don't need smart TV.

I also have to check whether my Panasonic plasma still can be used after Dec 2018 and whether a digital box is all I need to keep it going or I also have to ditch it. A bit sayang to junk it cos picture quality still good.

I think only LG is true OLED. From some reading of samsung review, it seems they were like trying to pitch it as as OLED but seems a bit misleading.

I saw the XiaoMi also have 4K 65" going at less then 1.5K. Anyone can share their purchase experience on Xiaomi?

Anyone tried the QLED .. ? Good ?

I bought a Samsung QLED 55" TV in last November.  The colors was very sharp and clear and is fully wireless wifi connection.

The best is come with one-connect box to connect all other devices like blueray player, starhub box and audio sound system.  No more a messy wiring around the TV.
