In exchange for the 500mil penalty for cancellation of HSR project?

So how are Singapore going to recoup the "losses"? Setup satellite gantry and start collecting ERP?

I frankly don’t think dr m is doing any of these things to chok chok Singapore. The two things they have done so far appear to be freeing their resources, both in terms of people and money, to deal with their own problems, which are monumental. And dr M is basically in a coalition with all his erstwhile political enemies, he is no longer the supreme leader he used to be, and there will be forces of moderation if he gets too funny.

A good move from Sun Tze's Art of War...retreat as a form of advance. To lull the other party's alertness. And conserve resources.

SG need to be cautious; old ginger is always more biting.

Dr M very good at flying layang.

Know when to pull and when to let go.

The objective is to make the kite go higher.

Always has coated string to cut other kite off.

Don't worry, satellite ERP is in the works already even if they have nothing to recoup.

"Nothing wrong to collect more" is their new slogan. :D

Malaysia still holds the Middle Rocks. In fact now thinking of modifying it into an island like what the PRC is doing, and expanding their facilities there.

Let them expand and hand over to Singapore when it's ready.

They might just also build a mini twin towers with amenities...liddat no need for our puny lighthouse to lead the nautical way...seamen can do grocery shopping there as well. Who knows? Sekali got sail through McDonald’s...

The fortunate thing is, based on international maritime law, you cannot claim waters around Pedra Branca just by expanding Middle Rocks into an island. It's theirs, they are free to build whatever they want. However, they could use it as basis to claim South Ledge - which pretty much is an open verdict.

Singapore will still largely be in control of the waters over the opening into South China Sea as commercial shipping has always rely on Pedra Branca as official. Much of the South China Sea falls under the purview of Singapore's Rescue Region as well, Singapore is probably the only country with the best technology to conduct such search and rescue coordination - linked all the way to Hawaii.

My past encounter with Malaysia Navy... nahhhhhhhhh... they're far off the capabilities of Singapore military.
