Tony Pua is the product of our RI & RJC.

"Pua graduated from Keble College, Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics under a scholarship from the MTC Foundation in 1994.  Prior to that, he received ASEAN and Shaw Foundation scholarships to pursue his "O" and "A"-Levels in Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College".

Wow, he could've had a lucrative career here, with solid credentials and from our branded schools.

After all, here, he can enjoy the benefits of meritocracy - and under this system, he is certainly somewhere near the top...

Yet, he chose to go back to boleh-land, with its broken institutions and discrimination. Just to take part in the politics and represent the people. Really salute this guy!

Too busy, too tired working long hours, to raise enough income to cope with high cost of living here.

Actually, the truth is, everyone is dead tired with no energy or time left to complain.

But maybe govt thought everybody 'tiam tiam' because satisfied and happy [laugh]

Tony Pua got backbone. He can choose to stay in Singapore with a S$10,000 a month salary ( that's the MB Selangor salary by the way and around PM Najib salary ) but he choose to go back to his homeland to fight.

But please take note that for every Tony Pua who returned to their homeland in Malaysia to fight, we got 3 others Tony Puas opposite who choose to uproot from their homeland and come to Singapore to work as Ministers or Lawyers. Am I looking down at them? No. They are just being practical.

Agree. Thats why we need GRCs and the lower productivity when a group needed to perform one candidate's task.

Malaysia minister asks Malays to boycott Chinese businesses to reduce prices

http://www.todayonli...s-reduce-prices

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s agriculture and agro-based industries minister has called for Malay consumers to “boycott” Chinese-owned businesses who have been raising their prices indiscriminately, claiming this will leave businesses no choice but to reduce their prices.

In his Facebook post today (Feb 2), which has since been removed, Mr Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Malay consumers could play a part in helping the government to fight profiteers, by using their collective power to lower the price of goods.

“Forgive me for sharing my views, but besides the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, which uses the Price Control Act and the Anti-Profiteering Act to act against traders who raise their prices indiscriminately, the greatest power lies with consumers,” he wrote.

“The majority of consumers are Malay, Chinese are a minority, if the Malays boycott their businesses, they will surely have no choice but to reduce their prices,” he added.

Citing the example of the Old Town White Coffee chain owned by OldTown, he claimed the company had links to DAP’s Ngeh Khoo Ham and accused the Ngeh’s family as being “anti-Islam”.

“As long as the Malays don’t change, the Chinese will take the opportunity to oppress the Malays,” he said.

The former domestic trade and consumerism minister had confirmed to The Malaysian Insider that the statement was made by him on his Facebook account.

He clarified that his statement was directed at Chinese businesses that he said were “reluctant” to lower their prices. “I am referring to Chinese traders who are reluctant to reduce the prices of goods even though the price of petrol has come down,” he said.

“What I want to emphasise is for people not to depend solely on the government to ensure the price of goods comes down because as consumers, they can use their power to pressure businesses,” he added.

In subsequent Facebook posts to explain his actions, Mr Ismail said he was responding to a Facebook post made by consumers, who were angry at some Chinese businesses for not lowering prices despite declining oil prices. He added that it was not directed to all Chinese but to Chinese wholesalers and dealers who did not lower their prices.

“The action of businesses who did not want to reduce prices despite a big drop in oil prices can be perceived as a sabotage to incite the people’s anger towards the government,” he wrote.

He reiterated that consumers should not rely on the government to protect them from price hikes, but should instead use their power as consumers to decrease prices, rather than simply talking about it on Facebook. He also pointed out if prices fall as a result of this pressure, Chinese consumers will benefit as well.

Mr Ismail’s original post had been shared numerous times by other Facebook users and several also congratulated him for being “bold” in his statement.

Dr M stir & stir again ..... :o

Yahoo news:  Dr M’s warning: Malays doomed if Umno loses

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — The Malay community will lose all its protections if Umno falls in the next general election, according to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who said defeat was inevitable with Datuk Seri Najib Razak leading the party.

Continuing to press for Najib’s resignation as prime minister, Dr Mahathir said his estimates indicate that Najib would steer Umno towards defeat in the next general election, stripping the Malays of the safeguards they have enjoyed since Independence.

“I did my own calculation and the result was if he continues to lead Umno then the party will lose... and if we lose then I am afraid that will be the last of the Malays, the last time we see Malay interests and Islam protected,” he told a townhall meeting organised by

Malay Unity for Islam Movement.

Dr Mahathir, however, did not explain whom or what the Malays needed protection from nor did he specify what safeguards he was referring to.

The former prime minister said while the Malays are urged to unite behind Umno, they cannot turn a blind eye and offer absolute loyalty to a leader perceived to be corrupt.

Dr Mahathir said that rumours about Najib’s wealth are spreading fast and that the latter’s failure to convincingly refute them would leave Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) vulnerable.

“We can see he has a very wealthy lifestyle. On top of that, we know that billions of ringgit have been lost. Because of that we can see those who used to support BN now vote against it.

“What happened? We used to be supported by all the races. But not anymore,” he said.

Dr Mahathir then went on to point out that Najib fared poorer than Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, whom he replaced after BN to lost its parliamentary supermajority for the first time since 1969 in Election 2008.

“He did worse. When you change a leader you are supposed to perform better. But instead he did worse”.

BN lost a seven more seats under Najib in Election 2013, but the Umno president maintained that he performed better as his party added nine more seats to become the dominant force in BN.

Dr Mahathir has been pushing openly for Najib’s resignation, saying latter’s refusal to address allegations such as those surrounding 1 Malaysia Development Bhd and the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu put BN’s rule at risk.

Hmmmmm............. he does not earn as fast as Najib ...
