Taiwan: Going to Kenting, Taiwan. Any hotel recommendations?

Not many Singaporeans go there (except the army boys) so appreciate if any of you have stayed there and give recommendations

I stayed 1 night there previously, at a chalet ... Forgot the name as booked by a local friend.

 

Really is nothing much except the usual water sports which you can find anywhere, some sceneries to take photos (many Taiwan idol dramas are filmed there), nighttime will be the pubs and markets ... I guess why pp stayed 3-4 days may be due to the traveling time to get there, so may as well stay longer. I left from Kaoshiung and the car journey to kenting was quite long I remember..

 

But one thing to check weather b4 u go, cuz if rain basically u can play monopoly in the room whole trip ..

Last trip we went to KS, and to cijin island for a day trip. Very nice trip

When we left for tpe, this taxi driver was highly recommending kenting

 

So we are gng this nov dec with our boy

Yeah..really nothing there, recommend to just stay 1 night there and get back to kao hsiung the next day.

Can rent electric bike there to ride around the place and walk along the main road with shops along side.

Nothing compared to phuket, phuket is happening with people all year round but not kenting..

Wow, really ar. Just told my wife about this but she wish to relax by the beachside and cafes for afew days. Yes with electric bikes as what we did in cijin island for a day trip previously

 

Usually we laze along patong beach for 4-5 days, we will try it this time for kenting as we are gng for a slow pace trip F&E.

 

Away from hectic singapore hahaha

This trip supposed to do:

 

Kenting

Taichung just a night to see see look look as reviews dun favour Taichung

wulai actually a day trip but just read got a typhoon in aug so skip

Yilan going to a 2d 1night farm stay and afew nights at luodong

Wow, really ar. Just told my wife about this but she wish to relax by the beachside and cafes for afew days. Yes with electric bikes as what we did in cijin island for a day trip previously

kenting one night more than enough. see lighthouse etc then night market and sea sports

 

taichung is fun if you are party animal. last time my taiwan friends tell me that taichung is mafia control and far from taipei. so all the wild stuffs all come from there first. so if you are chiongster, there very hiong. easy to get tai mei and ONS

 

yilan is hot spring and tai ping shan and some waterfall. nice place.

 

consider taroko gorge too. very scenic. nice to cycle around and see scenary. nearby nantou got a monster village that's quite interesting too.

Dec will be winter, other than the night street. You will not able to do anything.

I was there for 1 night during Dec a few years ago, the resort has beautiful outdoor pool. But the water was too cold and it was very windy.

Slow trip, feeling the life of locals is what we are aiming for for this one

Seems you will be going in quite a few different directions .. by train ? by car ? Kenting is in the far South .. then Yilan in the North East. Taichung in the Middle West. Taiwan is not big so its still possible but more time on the roads.

 

Otherwise, from Taoyuan Airport to Yilan and Hualien over highway 5 quite fast and relaxing .. and both on the East, quite a lot of places to go liao .. if want can also cross Taroko from Hualien over to Taichung, and a loop back to Taoyuan Airport on HSR or Highway 1 by car.

 

A lot of beach resorts in South East Asia, that even Taiwanese like to go for.

I do that last year right after my daughter finished her PSLE.

Air ticket is a lot cheaper. Once the official school holiday start in mid Nov, all travel price will go up.

Definitely a lot cheaper, that's why we always did odd season before my boy reach Pri school
