Gundam builders lip lai!

After a 7 year hiatus, I have built another Gundam. It is a PG Strike Gundam. I have always wanted to build a PG but never had the chance because back then, a PG cost more than my NS pay.

So now that I am poisoned again, where is the best place to buy Gundam kits? I have discovered a shop at Sunshine Plaza and also Hobby Point. Other than these 2, where else can I go? I don't like department stores because they sell very expensive.

Is it my imagination or have Gundam kits shrunk? The 1/100 series from 00 seem to be very small.

I am not a model hobbyist nor hardcore, but building one takes my mind off work.

I have built an MG and a PG wing gundam (with my horrible craftmanship).

Got them in HK since I go there frequently. If you need anything maybe I can help u get it when i'm there. My hobbyist friends say they're quite cheap in HK, dependent on the shop and there seemed to be some season sale for some models.

Hey Bro, nice to know someone with same interest :)

For me, I normally get all mine from departmental stores, I don't find the price difference that much. And sometimes, there's 20% discounts too! Hehe

When you mean cheaper, how much is the difference?

Careful of "chong" version, which modelist use for "destroying" Haha The parts may not fit well..

I noticed there's 1 in Cineleisure 2nd level too..

Do you know of any source to "indent" those models which cannot be found in stores already?

There are not that many shops in Sg that sell but the one in Sunshine Plaza specialises in Gundams. There's another one in Parklane (B1 I think) that also carries quite a few but they also do others like airplanes, tanks, ships etc. This shop sometimes have bulk purchase promotions which are pretty attractive. If you have group of frens in this hobby can consider doing bulk purchase.

These 2 are probably the best source of cheaper Gundams compared to elsewhere. Shopping Centres they carry but limited range and their price generally are higher except for periodic 20% off the regular price. Still, the reduced prices are matched at Sunshine Plaza or the one at Parklane.

HK not too bad in terms of prices but need to know exactly where to shop.. BKK MBK 5th or 6th floor there is another one I used to buy from them previously generally cheaper than Sg but past 1-2 years they have become more rigid in pricing. Problem is if you buy a couple of PGs like I did previously getting through the journey (and at the Customs) back can be abit troublesome.

I walked past the Parklane shop before. It is very messy right? Didn't go in as I only saw those normal model kits.

Used to build and tried to pick it up again last year but really can't find the time of day to do so!

You might want to check out this local forum on plastics modelling:

Plamo

Should be able to find lots of fellow enthusiasts, tips, good buys and all the shops in Singapore.

Need to paint?

Used to do this back in the 90s ... now hardly see much of such shops

But the sets can be found in Toy R Us nowadays, or those kind of hobby shops that sells toys and figurines, like the ones in VivoCity and Bugis Junction.
