Dh15 Clutched March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 Hmm...actually not surprising that they have more Ferrari over in HK considering their population is almost double ours. And they have more richie rich there.
Rliewky 1st Gear March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 Its also way cheaper to buy a ferrari in HK compared to SG just curious, how much cheaper are we looking at?
Papbest Neutral Newbie March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 Its also way cheaper to buy a ferrari in HK compared to SG Of course, HK people do not have to pay 7% GST to buy their cars and houses mah. 7% of S$ 1 million is an extra tax of S$70,000. Only idiots will pay this.
Espire 1st Gear March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 Hmm...actually not surprising that they have more Ferrari over in HK considering their population is almost double ours. And they have more richie rich there. They also had actors and actress earning big money buying super cars also. One of them is Aaron Kwok loh... his hobby is keeping super cars. Our local celebrity, anyone got ferrari?
Shull Turbocharged March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 just curious, how much cheaper are we looking at? their import tax structure is more or less similar to ours. Small cars is taxed at about 30% while bigger cars are taxed at 100+%. Petrol is also more expensive there, costing about SGD+2/lit for RON95, cos petrol tax makes up about 50% of pump price. Parking on HK and Kowloon area is also not cheap, considering the lack of space. The only thing is, they have no COE. So, a mornal family saloon is cheaper than SG, but big gas guzzlers and supercars is about the same price.. for comparison, a Honda Stream 1.8 cost HKD186k(which is about SGD37k), while ours cost close to 70k.. Schneider79 Clutched March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 just curious, how much cheaper are we looking at? It's slightly half the price of the new car price in singapore. Singapore has the ARF tax which is 100% of the OMV. Gahment says its easy money, "We don't need to forkout a single cent and we earn $190k in pocket for importing it into Singapore." Marcostan 4th Gear March 23, 2009 Share March 23, 2009 If buying expensive car, then it's not expensive here in Singapore. Exampe: Mercedes S350 in Hong Kong they are selling around S260K Singapore the same S350 is cost u around S280K, dun forget we still have a PARF value and this S350 can easily give u S$70-80K or even more. So, this mean the Agent of HK Mercedes make a very very deep profit. Hong kong no COE and lower import duty. But it's very expensive to buy a normal family car in Singapore. Example Corolla Atlis in Hong Kong only cost u S$30K 1.5L 4AT But in Singapore u need to pay more than S$50K.

Muwrx Neutral Newbie March 25, 2009 Share March 25, 2009 (edited) does someone mention houses in hk are not expensive??? nobody over there is getting a loan of anything more than 4 years. yes the purchase prices seem to be cheaper, but the monthly maintenance fees are way higher. car parks can easily cost S$5 per hour. the notorious few cost $10 per hour!!! one last concern: its almost a custom to pay for fine monthly as every single police officer can issue parking tickets and you will really dunno how you get hit unusually. cheers!
