just question to expert here, i wanna change rear shock with KYB. however, my front shock is new and it is stock. is it ok to mix dif brand of shock?

In my opinion, not advisable to use different types of shocks for front and rear.

Your suspension is an important component to the functionality of your car, movement, braking, stopping etc.

Change your rear to the same ones as the front.

hi guys... juz bought a 2nd hand Fit mileage 49k. recently can hear creaking sound from rear when alight from vehicle... autobacs told me rear suspension oil leaking n needa change.. quoted me $900+ for original (rear pair only)!!! also quoted me the gas type suspension for $1200!! obviously i'm not gonna buy from them but is there any place to recommend?? hydraulic or gas??

autobacs also offering for trade in of sports rim for $458... is it reasonable?? cos e rims were pretty scratched when i got them... so thinking of changing them also...

the creaking sound maybe the spring and not even the absorber , some greasing may ease the symptoms .

I will suggest you go to your regular trustworthy workshop for a check or PM me if you don't already have one .

if the car start to pull to either side instead of going straight when you let go of the steering wheels , then it's time for computer wheel alignment to adjust your camber .

I usually do a yearly computer alignment of wheels ; afterall it cost less than SGD50.

That is very expensive. And I won't go to Autobacs. There are other better workshops around.

hi,

OT a bit, is it a must to align wheels after changing wheel bearings?

Not that I know of.

But I send my car to do computerized wheel alignment every 10k or 15k intervals.

My adv is autobacs is very ex.

just check if kyb has oem shocks fr yr car[ ty might even hv gas] n get fm them n get yr trusted mech to install fr u. KYB i get fm chin hon at owen rd b4. got another shop also sell. Aik huat at waterloo got sell. compare prices as might b diff of abt 20-30%.

make sure ty r made in japan as e quality is better. never buy made in msia.

u wil save a lot.

I get my mech to fix abt $100 plus to install 4 shocks. also check if u need to change e rubber stoppers fr front shocks. e car wil drive much nicer with new ones.

Exactly. sound cud b worn bushings.

I had sound b4 but greasing cannot solve. in end i changed bushings n shocks as both were already time to change. but sometimes when shocks worn, wil hv creaking sound too.

hi,

OT a bit, is it a must to align wheels after changing wheel bearings?

=======

It is better to do 4 wheel computerised alignment if any work is done on suspension n steering parts as settings cud hv run out.

Thats why i try to plan all these jobs at 1 go n then do e complete alignment after. save $.

but wheel bearings sud not affect alignment unless e mech undo some other stuff to get e bearings done or last time bearings worn n did alignment so now settings might hv changed.

PS; dont trust e ws to do alignment as ty might not do but say all done. go do it yourself to b certain.

Last time i kenna conned by ws [comfort auto scvs] end up my car skidded on slippery road n hit metel barrier. Later i do a computer alignment, ty say all settings way off. thats why i skid.

Once car pulls, it is already very bad. Sometimes u cant feel much but e handling n stability is affected. even tires will wear faster.

after e 4 wheel computerised alignment, u wil feel e car more stable n handles/brakes so much better.

I never do car in jb cos i find e quality of parts n workmanship very poor compared to a good ws here wh good quality guenine jap parts. ty can also b very dishonest, especially wh sg cars cos ty feel sg pple all rich n stupid.

sometimes ty give u imitation parts which look very genuine. only after u use than can tell quality is not good.

this is 1 area i prefer to pay a little more for peace of mind.
