I really like the design of the Koup coupe... Will go for it if I have the means [inlove]

However, C&C not bringing in the 5 auto transmission with turbo charged version to Singapore; what a waste... [:(]

It's quite cheap, only 3 to 5k above the price of the cerato.

It's quite cheap, only 3 to 5k above the price of the cerato.

It is definitely not just 3-5k more than current cerato forte.

It states "The Koup's premium over the equivalent Forte model is expected to be between $3,000 and $5,000"

premium in this case refers to profit made from selling each car. The OMV of both cars are definitely different, thus the base price after taxes for both cars is going to be different.

They might be earning 8k for each forte sold.

They will be earning 8K+(3k or 5k) for each koup sold.

Cannot just add 3-5k more than forte as TAX based on different omvs.

That's how i read the newspaper clip, i may be wrong.

I agree on the transmission, take manual then....

i think u have a point.

but when i read it, i feel that it isn't as complicated as what u mentioned.

basically, forte + $5k. something like that.

Wouldnt this be another tuscani? Probably the smaller engine will attract more budget conscious ppl to get it but other than that, couldnt be very much different.

I was hoping that after some time they will bring in the 1.6t with 6sp manual (if Kia has this transmission) to Spore. Pricing if its btw forte and magentis, it would be a gd catch. [drivingcar]

Unlike the Koup the Tuscani does not have items carry over from their 4-door sedans. It's a car that's on its own. But high price and insurance dun make it a desirable car. It's not as stylish enough like those Conti Coupe Cabriolets and it does not have any performance to stand out.

Ppl still want practical car for family use, a coupe maybe for weekend use. Not many ppl can afford to have 2 cars, especially in sg. Even the Japanese has gave up doing coupes.

The Koup looks nice but it shares the same grill, front (rear?), dashborad and interior with the sedan and the Magentis looks so much like the same.

I think most Cerato buys will just buy at most the 2.0L 4door. Since it's a budget car ppl wants to keep cost down, dun think Koup will be popular.

No offence to current Tuscani owners & lovers, I really hope the Koup will not turn out to be a Tuscani - I just cannot accept the shape of that car...

Not too sure how true - the Forte came out from the Koup concept car so that's why the Koup shares multiple similarites to the Forte.

On the engine, I was hoping to get the 5 spd auto with turbo as I assume, it will be for more fuel efficient and engaging to drive than the current 4 spd, 2 litre engine found in the 2 litre Forte.

I mean, if it does have that engine, imagine a sports coupe that does 0-100 km/h in <9s, returns 13 km/l mileage & costs ard $70k. What a dream... [inlove]

& I dunt think even by offering cash to upgrade will get me that particular engine - C&C (I think) won't entertain the request on just 1 owner; maybe if there are say 20 ++ pple who bought that spec, will C&C get it shipped here.

Well, I also must add that there are singles (like me [lipsrsealed] ) who also wants to have a sports car, but don't want to pay a premium for performance cars like a Mini Cooper, VW Golf GTI or Sirocco [inlove]...

That's what I hope the Kia can fill in the space for singles like us; a desireable car with genuine performance & without the high price [;)]

13km/l for turbo 2.0 korean car? dream on. [rolleyes]

my light-footed friends don't even get 12km/l on their forte 1.6 after running in. but that's expected and reasonable even, given the 17 inch rims and the stability of the car

for the koup 2.0 turbo (if it comes in), i believe 10km/l consider very lucky already, and only if one doesn't unleash the power too often

Well, I was under the impression that an additional turbo i.e., Golf, helps to get more power for the same amount of fuel burnt, and that a 5 spd auto is def more fuel efficient than the current 4 spd auto in the Forte.

Correct me if I am wrong...

2-door cars are never popular with local motorist. Like you mentioned, most people would prefer to have only one car and also a big looking one for face or value for the metal. Hence MPVs are their usualy choice although on a daily basis it is alone driving or at most wife+ kid for the morning taxi drop off.

to be frank, i'm an exterior kind of person.

if it looks aggressive and sleek, i'll buy, regardless of performance, i seldom drive fast anyway.

tats why i bought my odyssey and mazda3 SP (prev).

i'm a whore for fierce looks

If C&C brings in the 2L Turbo Koup, it will would have to be around $80K to $85K. Would you still buy? Still Cheap for a 210bhp lifestyle car.

But I dont trust Korean clutches and gearlevers. They are vague and notchy. Clutch biting point is not precise either. Hope they bring in the 2.4l version - it has 6-speed manual & 5-speed auto.

The Koup is not intended to be a volume seller in the first place. It is just in Singapore to provide an image lift for the Kia brand so that the public would have greater acceptance for the Soul next year.
