Peaceracer 1st Gear August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 IMO, Forte hands down. For me, i wont pay that kind of $$ for a fit, which is a small jap car. Resale value make be high but don forget that the starting price is high too and also the aftersales costs. Avante is not too bad if you are talking abt auto. The manual very spartan. Value for money car jus that styling and age make be abit outdated. Forte has great value for money. Even the basic model probably has more stuff thn the basic model for the other 2. Not to mention that the Fit probably costs a 10k premium at least.

Any bros who have experience in these 3 cars can feedback the goods and bads of each one? hehe forte is very bad. just google search for forte problems and you can see its not a good car. there is also a local fortre car forum that discuss about the problems. i think its either the honda or the avante. kia
Vega Turbocharged August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 I will vote for the Forte. if your friend got budget for a Jazz ($80+K), ask him to go for the Mk6 golf instead.
Raymondkohms Neutral Newbie August 16, 2009 Author Share August 16, 2009 his budget tops at about 60k thereabouts....of cos lower the better, but want decent quality as well as probably going to drive it full 10 years if the car can last

The 5th batch onwards, most if not all the problems have been fixed by OEM. Currently is the 7th/8th batch.

Any bros who have experience in these 3 cars can feedback the goods and bads of each one? hehe Ask ur colleague to test drive all 3 cars personally, then he/she can feel the power/handling/ect... since price is not a issue. For me, I will choose Fit for sure! looks small from outside but actually spacious inside.

Raymondkohms Neutral Newbie August 16, 2009 Author Share August 16, 2009 (edited) yup....he not into fast cars..just want a dependable ride.. at first he considered Cerato Forte and Advante, i told him i take the Cerato Forte then he throw in the FIT for consideration, then i told him no brainer...i take the Honda anytime. FC wise, the 1.3 fit wins hands down i think space, FIT also wun lose the 2 esp with the flat rear seats folddown badge smobbiness - Honda, enuff said perceived quality ..Japanese versus the Koreans only thing lose is the price more expensive...hehe But to choose between the 2 Koreans. It is Cerato Forte for me. Edited August 16, 2009 by Raymondkohms
Raymondkohms Neutral Newbie August 16, 2009 Author Share August 16, 2009 now is whether Cerato Forte or Advante will be more reliable..... which one have more problems as reported from your frens/forums most cars nowadays 2-3 years no problems....then after that the quality will slowly set the cars apart... so wonder which one will have a better track record going into the years
Limxiaoming 2nd Gear August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 (edited) Hi bros, fellow colleague wants to choose between the 3 cars....even though they may not be of the exact price range. Any bros who have experience in these 3 cars can feedback the goods and bads of each one? hehe My opinions won't be appreciated cause i sell Hyundai haha. Anyway my opinion is as such 1. Avante has a good track record la. Up to date it has the least complains compared to the latter. It may not be the most tech savy car in the market but its definately on top when it comes to value for money. Buy car don't just look at the selling price, should have a look at COE bidding history of the company. How many ppl bought the Forte and didn't get their cars, in the end waited for COE until from car price increase $5k. My friend just bought a vios last week for 50k and i think good luck to him haha. Avante has more and more aftermarket parts to spice up ur ride so spare parts is not going to be a problem anymore. Fuel consumption for Avante is reasonable at 12-14 and not the best of course given the fit is a 1.3. Resale is not as bad as u think anymore the Avante in fact has very good resale value compared to KIA. Shall not touch on looks as its vv subjective. Maintaince is cheap with timing chain and only 3/4 bottle of oil needs to be used for each servicing. Overall Avante is value for money as most might agree here. 4 Disc brakes, 5 star safety rating, proven track record, loads of aftermarket parts, and blue ah beng lights haha. 2. Forte is a up and coming black horse. Looks good, feels good, loads of technology. But as many people say the more tech u have in a car the more small problems u get and these small problems in the end might just haunt u to death. There is no such thing as cheap and good in this world haha. The Forte also has very good safety features too. Maintaince should be the same as the Avante with timing chain. Fuel consumption, some people can get 15-17km! while some only can get 8-10km! Aftermarket parts not there yet but should be a matter of time judging by its sales. afterall parts depend on market demand ma.. Overall the forte is a Car with fresh new look, tons of tech with minimal pricing. Still new in the market though so still need genunie comments from forte owners. Watch out for resale though. 3. FIT/JAZZ 70-80k for a car with no backside, 1.3cc, smaller space, 2 disc braks? No thx for me. Actually its not the FiTS , all jap cars are currently not feasible to buy right now. But my friend got it last year and very happy with his fit Edited August 16, 2009 by Limxiaoming
Babyt 4th Gear August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 1. fit 2. avante 3. forte
Mechwira 1st Gear August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 (edited) i just bought avante, been driving it for a month. initially when buying, my budget allowed avante, forte, 1.3 jazz and 1.3 swift. dont talk about 'different category'. in truth, when buying cars ppl consider price range and not category. i wanted to consider the jap equivalents of the forte and avante, but they cost between 10k-15k more. wtf is that about. to be honest, if the jap equivalents cost only 2k-3k more than the koreans, i would have bought the japs without giving the koreans even an aftethought, coz i still mindset japs are superior. but $15k superior over the hyundai?! sorry, the japs overestimate their superiority. between the korean sedan and the jap compact, to me its a no-brainer. i buying car coz child on the way. why buy a smaller compact with a smaller engine for the same price? and the 1.5 jazz/swift costs even more than avante/forte? again, wtf?! so that left avante and forte. why avante? 1) its a 3 year old model which has proven itself. not the forte. 2) i bought the 'RS' model which is the 's' model with bodykit package guranteed COE, and its the same price as the forte 'sx' standard guranteed COE. i'll take the car with slightly a bit more uniqueness. 3) forte they told me might have waiting period of 3 months, versus avante of just under 2 weeks. 4) Kia refused to let me test drive on account of p-plate. when i told komoco, the SE said "if i dont let you test drive, then how you buy?". come on man, its not like i p-plate walked in and asked to test drive a wrx or evo, its just a damn 1.6l sedan! Currently is the 7th/8th batch. new problems will still appear. cost cutting measures and sub quality parts used by kia will tell in maybe 2-3 yrs time. the avante is a tried and tested model and should be much better than forte. Jerryl Clutched August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 key word, to drive for 10 years i will choose 'Fit' than the 2 Kor whatever feature are secondary cheer
Tigershark1976 Turbocharged August 16, 2009 Share August 16, 2009 (edited) i would choose Avante. Its basically share the the same technology although forte is using slightly newer version (garma vs garma 2). Fit?? its the most expansive and yet its the smallest among the 3, why the buyer spend more for less...? some may argue that Fit will fetch a higher resale value but how much more? there are plenty of people who doesnt believe in Korean technology but as an ex owner of a hyundai elantra (bot 2nd hand at 5th yr and sold off on 9th yr). i will say its very realiable brand... Its doesnt give me any problem except for wear n tear items... in fact, i would say that its more reliable compare to my Thai made Vios, my friend Civic, lancer EX, altis and many other Japs brand. my Vios itself was toll back to BM within the 1st month due to the malfuntion MAF sensor. my friend EX auto gear jerk after 6 months.... my colleague civic's power window at the driver side fail operating after 2 yrs of usage, another colleague of mine had his Altis rear absorber changed twice within 3 yrs...
