But here that RL can only last till 8k like SHU, To me, if an engine oil can't maintain its quality till 10k, can forget about it for me. Because, it took me almost 1 yr to reach 10k km

 

For your case, your engine will be better off if you change EO at 5K or half yearly interval whichever comes first.

 

Extended OCI is over-hyped and can never be relied on in Singapore's weather cum driving conditions.

 

Talk to super old bird mechanic, and they will recommend that there is no need for super duper expensive EO, but more important is to change EO at half yearly interval even with little mileage clocked.

yea engine oil is best change on a 6 mth or 10k which ever come first basis.

The 4 ball test has been criticized by many as a irrelevant test for an engine oil.

It is useful for testing grease.

Partially right but 4 ball bearing test also indicate it's extreme pressure additives properties. Even though 99% of us don't drive our cars to it's limit (rpm redline or mountain climb race) daily, it's still good to know that your engine oil is an overkill.
