This may not be the correct thread to post my question... but I can't find a better thread and also can't start a new thread coz I'm still a newbie (< 25 posts)...

I recently collected my Forte 1.6SX... I got a few questions and hope to get some answers from this forum.

1. The owner's manual state that the recommended petrol is 91 (for non-europe). Has anyone used 92 for their forte???

2. SX model comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC)... think this is equivalent to ABS... but there is a switch to ON/OFF ESC while ABS 'is always on'. My question is under what circumstances should I on the ESC???? Pls dun tell me when the car loose control... [laugh] coz by then it's probably too late... or should I juz leave it ON all the time??? Any side-effect to leave it ON all the time???

About ESC:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_stability_control

So it's not the same thing as ABS. ABS is when you slam down on the breaks and it pulsates to prevent the wheels from locking up, giving you more control.

As to when you want to off it? I would guess that if you're an incredible driver with excellent control and you're racing or something and the ESC is getting in the way.

Kind of like how the Stig always turns off the ESC or equivalent.

That was a super fast reply. [:)]

From the URL, it seems that the logical thing to do is to turn it on.

Quoted from the article:

[Many ESC systems have an "off" override switch so the driver can disable ESC, which may be desirable when badly stuck in mud or snow, or driving on a beach, or if using a smaller-sized spare tire which would interfere with the sensors.]

This evening when I tried to turn on my ESC, then I realised that the switch is actually meant to turn it off.

In other words, ESC is always on by default... [blush]
