If you constantly change your EO every 10,000km, you can go for Advance Fuel Economy 0w30.

For Extended Performance 5w30, it can last you up to 15,000km.

If you ask me, in Singapore weather condition, 0w30 is enough.

For conservative viewpoint, your car hit 80,000km soon, avoid Xw20 and go for Xw30 or Xw40.

Cars with <70,000km can use Xw20, good FC but noisy engine.

Mobil1 Advance Fuel Economy 0w30, per quartz is $13.50

Mobil1 Extended Performance 5w30, per quartz is $14.50

1 quartz = 0.946352946 liter.

Hope it helps.~

Hi bro, I got what you mean.

I will do away with the Mobil1 EP

how about the silver bottle one? http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...ls/Mobil_1.aspx

Advance Fuel Economy and normal Synthetic,

beside it's name, what it so different between this 2?

As for the Advance Fuel Economy, am I really expecting mopre fuel saving?

I personally have tried the Silver bottle one. FC is good, but power not that great.

I would prefer Mobil 1 EP 5w30 cos the specification looks better.

AFE 0w30 only ACEA A1 vs EP 5w30 which is A1 & A5. This mean EP should hold the viscosity better at end of its service life. Probably AFE is design to thin out later to achieve better fuel economy, hence can only achieve ACEA A1. This is also directly related to the lower HTHS of AFE which is 2.99 vs EP HTHS 3.1.

It is interesting to note that when new, EP 5w30 the viscosity at 40 deg.C is lighter than AFE 0w30, and both viscosity at 100 deg.C is same. So it could be likely that when new, EP 5w30 could in fact gives a better fuel economy than AFE 0w30. It is only at the later stage when AFE 0w30 shear to a lower viscosity then fuel economy become better.

what you show us from the link is 0w40 EO.

it is good to use Xw40 when your mileage is very high.

Xw40 is to protect your engine more.

Xw20: lighter engine oil -> good FC economy; less engine protection.

Xw30: in-between 20 and 40.

Xw40: thicker engine oil -> less FC economy; good engine protection.

Hope it helps.~

Turbocharged

Google for Flashpoint, HTHS, Viscosity Index, NOACK, TBN and ACEA A series ratings for starters.

BITOG and noria forum are good sources of info but can get overwhelming

Given the product sheet of the 3 oils in your choice offer the same stats, it's easy to compare.

I only used the 15W-50 EP.

This is good for my engine and lasts the 10K kms w/o thinning down too much, and w/o me having to add viscosity modifiers to thicken it at the halfway mark for engine oil change. Also, I found the oil consumption to be very little, requiring very little top ups.

no matter what kind of engine oil you use,i would suggest you to add on an metal proctective additive (ZX 1) with your engine oil. chiangauto facebook ID : [email protected]

Lol...... you selling har?

Want people to believe in you can. Must first state what kind of additive ZX1 is.

Wah! 15W50 is usually meant for Turbo engines only leh....

Of course it provides excellent protection compared to thinner oils. However, your FC will suffer.

For me, I prefer using 10W40 now and add a can of STP. The viscosity modifier will thicken the oil and add more zinc! Zinc is good for my engine!

IMHO, 20wt oil is a little thin for the engine unless TS don't intend to keep the car for very long time. Wear and tear is going to be very high if using 20wt oil. Oil consumption will increase as well.
