Walkingtree 1st Gear June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 (edited) and would like to ask how does LTA inspection works? You drive to the inspection centre and get in line at one of the inspection lanes. Hand over the car to the mechanic when he approaches u. Next, you walk to the end of the inspection lane and pay for the inspection. In the meantime, the mechanic will drive your car through a series of tests along the lane. You wait at the end after payment. Mechanic prints out test result, tell u pass or fail, and why fail. Then you take back your car and drive off. Alternatively, you can just leave it to your regular motor workshop to settle for you. Puteh Clutched June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 (edited) Like most gahmeh agencies, I find them going too much by the book - format followers! For instance, as noted earlier by a forum-er, "HID is illegal unless your car originally came with it...". What logic! I cant understand why it is legal only if it is originally fitted with it. Macrosszero Turbocharged June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 (edited) Because the headlight optics for HID and halogen bulbs are different. HID bulbs are more intense than halogen bulbs and have to be shielded and projected and/or diffused in order to reduce its glare to other motorists. The beam is still intense enough that HID-equipped cars have automatic light levelling to maintain the correct beam orientation regardless of the load that is being carried. Watwheels Supersonic June 24, 2010 Share June 24, 2010 (edited) Must pay money for inspection, if fail must pay fine. If friend they should not accept a single cent and let you pass. Edited June 24, 2010 by Watwheels

Yah, this part is quite wierd...... I also want to fit HID to save some power and get better FC but its not allowed by LTA so can't do it.

It is not wired. The problem with after market LTA non inspection HID is that some of those installed have a angle that is too high for safety reason. I had personally encounter some OEM HID car where their normal light was shining way too high and into the cabin that its blinding to the eyes and hence affect safety of other driver. Thanks for enlightening (no pun intended). But still find LTA too restrictive and stifling in many ways.

Alant 1st Gear June 26, 2010 Share June 26, 2010 Using aftermarket HID on those projector headlights are much better and easier on the eyes as compared to those halogen bulb headlights where the lights are dispersed and glaring. ↡ Advertisement
