my advice is not to use such stainless steel filter. the performance gain is not worth the amt of dirt/dust that is going into the engine

So what would you recommend.

Stock fiber filter is $40 a piece..

Hurricane filter is suicide for your engine over long run. It is almost as good as no filtration to particles. I would say k&n is the most ideal that u can consider.

I wont mine SS or cotton, as long as I can reuse them.

But so far, can find K&N replacement for my model... That is the problem....

Any cure?

Different.

Hurricane is stainless steel.

K&N is cotton.

There are 4 K&N SG dealers listed here: http://www.knfilters.com/search/dealersearch.aspx

Since they are official dealers, if they don't have stock I believe they can order for you... unless K&N don't make filters for your car.

The problem with aftermarket drop in filters is that it allows a higher amount of dirt into the engine. unless u plan to drive for 2-3 yrs, i suggest keep the air filter paper.

Stock paper or fiber filter has the best filtration properties.

Have to live with partially dirty filter until cannot clean anymore.

I am quite sure, they dont have drop in for my model. Maybe have to KIV, until they make.

I am serious thinking about keeping it so long as possible.

My previous car, 5 years.

I like this car even more as power is acceptable, FC acceptable, equipment status- up to date( at the moment).

But if I see dropin filter, I will also get one....

Thks for the advice

I used K & N replacement filter in my previous Celica-ST204 (in aus) since the 2nd week I owned the car. I drove this car for almost 8 years then sold it to a friend of mine. Well, it's been almost 20 years and last time I checked with my friend (few months ago), the engine is still running alright. ^_^

Bro, if you want to mod, go for the Tom's Linear Throttle System and Fuel Mapping combination.

Specific to Estima Hybrid model. Should feel more powerful without too much effect on FC.

Try TRD Sportivo at Sin Ming.

I have been looking for aftermarket air filter too, but in vain.

Anyway, I find it really difficult to remove the air filter from the engine compartment. Such a tight fit.

Air with dirt goes into the combustion chamber and is ignited with petrol.

Any soot, together with the dirt, is carried away by the engine oil.

So using aftermarket filters shouldn't be a problem if you change your engine oil regularly.
