I have a large breed dog.... and he's already 6..... so he's like halfway there coz large breed tend to have shorter lifespan......

I don't look forward to the day where he has to leave us..... though i know that day will surely come. [bigcry]

It is the same for cats too. My eldest one is 10+ already. The steadiest, most intelligent, most guai, most mature and most sensible of my gang. I can see her growing older by the day too. I know I will be very sad when she leaves me in the next 5 years or so.

My neighbor is an Ah Mah...... and she had this really old spaniel that had gone blind with age.... and still she walks him every morning and evening..... moving really slowly..... and cleaning up after he does his business......

But finally the dog passed on last month...... and Ah Mah was devastated.... I really couldn't find the words to consol her..... coz I too, cannot stand the thought that one day, I will be faced with the same situation.

Frankly I cannot explain why the strong bond between human and an animal..... coz to be honest, I have had deaths in my family..... members that are extremely dear to me..... that gave life to me...... and the phobia of losing my dog is as strong as the same fear I faced with the prospect of losing my loved ones....

I can understand how the Ah Ma feels. He has faithfully followed her for 10 over years. Her only constant companion. The pain of losing a loved one will be really tremendous.
