Toyota motor corp just made an up market range of cars and brand it as LEXUS...simple. Everyone knows that, not trying to bring down LEXUS. U go to Leng Kee showroom "sir good morning, looking for toyota or lexus? Toyota pls turn left, lecus pls turn right."

Lexus is a brand of Toyota. Lexus is Toyota create one, hence 'Toyota Lexus'. I think if we got Acura or Infiniti also the same, 'Honda Acura' and 'Nissan Infiniti'.

 

Ferrari, Lambo, Jaguar, Audi and Volvo are individual brands in their own right, just that they are under ownership of another brand. They will still be called Ferrari, Lambo, Jaguar, Audi and Volvo.
