Bluepica 4th Gear September 3, 2010 Author Share September 3, 2010 Not sure whether still have USHA fans in Singapore, used to have 15 years back. some hardware shops still sell the ceiling hook for that (it needs a different hook than the current one's). Nowadays, fans don't last even for 5 years. You guys won't believe, i have two fans in my house back in India, aged 50 & 33, both are from Crompton Greaves. Until now, only changed the condenser once or twice, never recoiled the fan. When shopping for the ceiling fans, keep in mind, 3 blade fans can give you more sweep \ min than 4 or 5. Marketing people say, 4 or more wings give more air in less sweep, but, that is not true. Go to basic and you will get more air. yeah yeah.... those sales person will say more blades, more wind.... but the old design ceiling fans and even table top fans that have 3 blades is much stronger wind than those designer fan with more blades! I think those old propeller engine plane also got 2 blades only right? ↡ Advertisement

Orac Clutched September 3, 2010 Share September 3, 2010 KDK 3 blade ceiling fan for low ceiling is the best. Only 3 blades, maintenance also much easier. KDK ceiling fans not much noise and is more silent. I have both KDK and another brand of ceiling fans at home. can observe that KDK much better. KDK 3 blades ceiling fan about $240-260. I remember its RSP is $
Mazdaowner Moderator September 3, 2010 Share September 3, 2010 Anyway, both still need to be cleaned, irregardless. One need ladder, other need to dismantle. To me,no difference, both also have to clean. 5936 1st Gear September 3, 2010 Share September 3, 2010 Both KDK and Panasonic are the same. Both from Matsushita Electric. So buy only this brand. I heard they use bearings not bushings. blade qualities are better balanced. current remote control operated ceiling fan is much more easier to install. no need cable trunkings for regulators. 5936 1st Gear September 3, 2010 Share September 3, 2010 That's correct. More blades means can scoup and push more air forward. But material of blades also have effects. - Steel blade more stable, less flex during rotation. Less energy loss. But when broke loss, fan blade may cause injury. - Plastic blade - easy to flex during rotation. More energy wasted. Safer as fan blade will break within the wire cage when it broke loose. Nicz Clutched September 3, 2010 Share September 3, 2010 I'm pretty skeptical about ceiling fans as it looks as if it could simply fall off anytime. Anyone's fan actually fell off the ceiling?

Last time our schools all ceiling fans. Have not experienced any which fell off. I still remember if the cleaners don't clean the fan, towards the end of the school year, balls of dirt will come flying off the fans and land on our desks. ↡ Advertisement
