DACH Supersonic November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 The robot went round and round at foodcourt has been sighted in many places. And the robot went round and round with fully loaded trays with no one clear the tray on the robot!I wonder who own these robots. The cleaning vendor or the food court main tenant? If it doesn't belong to the cleaning vendor, does it mean the cleaners under the vendor don't help to clear the trays in the robot? ↡ Advertisement

If it is not the job of the cleaners to clear the trays from the robot, then no wonder those robots always stack full with used trays.

Victor68 Turbocharged November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 I do like the robot going round the food court. it does enure they maintain a passageway, try deploying it in hawker centre. it will stay in a corner haha
DACH Supersonic November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 I do like the robot going round the food court. it does enure they maintain a passageway, try deploying it in hawker centre. it will stay in a corner haha Depends on the layout of the hawker center as well. If the path is too narrow, especially those older hawker centers, these robots might not be useful. Or the hawker centers tables and chair may be re-arranged to let them pass. Kxbc Turbocharged November 23, 2017 Share November 23, 2017 Thanks for the correction. Is it that bad? My regular hawker centers are Marine Parade, Old Airport, Bedok 85 and Changi Village. All the trays quite clean le. Only the ones in Corporation Drive are a bit dirty. Worse that they use the same cloth to wipe off the bird droppings on the table... I can't remember if those hawker centres you highlighted have lousy trays but generally, the hawker centres in the Bedok areas are usually littered and not too pleasing to have a meal there. 1 really lousy one is the Bedok hawker center which has the Hill Street CKT. Old Airport Rd hawker centre is filthy (tables and floor) and stuffy. Really poor ventilation. Marine Parade also not that clean and also has poor ventilation at the back. Changi V is ok. Mockngbrd Supersonic January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 (edited) http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/hawker-centres-to-charge-deposit-for-food-trays The tray deposit amount is $0.50 at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre and $1 at Bukit Merah Hawker Centre, the first two hawker centres to incorporate the ATRS and centralised dishwashing (CDW) services. Both will also be introduced at other hawker centres here. Hawkers have to pay for the centralised dishwashing (CDW) services according to the amount of crockery and cutlery they need each day. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR), was at the Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre on Monday (Jan 29) to view the ATRS and the CDW facility in action. She said these initiatives will help boost the overall business of hawker centres. Raise cost of business and raise prices = boost business.Ho-kay... PAP logic. Edited January 29, 2018 by Mockngbrd
Davidklt 6th Gear January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 People eat and spit their bones on the trays. And the trays are never washed. And yet, cutleries are placed there before meals are consumed. Agreed, trays at all hawker centre are super dirty and gross. They dont wash the returned tray and just simply wipe wipe a bit or sometimes even dont wipe and just return back to the stall. And there is always a stench smell on the tray.
Kb27 Supersonic January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/hawker-centres-to-charge-deposit-for-food-trays 50c tray return will be like what is happening at yishun hawker centre 1. stallholder ask you if you want 50c tray or not 2. you can accept or reject tray 3. if you pay for 50c tray, you can leave the rest of the bowls/plates/cutlery on the table and just return tray for 50c 4. if you forget your 50c tray, someone will come along and kop it for money tray just became a cash item to be traded. if you pay for it, don't loose it. what's that about cleaning ? they still need cleaners to come around and clean the table, with or without trays. so there you have it, the great tray workaround. You are right on this. Many people placed their cutleries on the tray before their meals. and used them to eat their food. Although the trays are very dirty and never washed, but never heard anyone got diarrhoea or even food poisoning due to dirty tray.

Dont know if the 50c and $1 effectively encourage people to return their tray?! Since even those supermarket trolley which required people to slot in $1 also doesnt work well. Since even those supermarket trolley which required people to slot in $1 also doesnt work well. you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink forcing 50c on tray return is pointless. people who refuse to follow will workaround it. people who are willing to return tray, will do so, regardless got 50c charge or not. just make it easy for these people, put lots of tray return shelves around. the problem is a social one, it'll be resolved socially or by peer pressure. money does not fix everything, which PAP elites only can think of.

Having more tray return shelves but cleaners also must clear those tray, bowls and plates on the shelve. If not also become problem. I saw the tray return shelves in some hawker centre full of plates and bowls, looks so disgusting and dirty. ↡ Advertisement
