Fine, ban for hit-and-run driver

A HIT-AND-RUN motorist was fined $4,300 and banned from driving all vehicles for 12 months for drink driving and other offences yesterday.

Tan Wee Teck, 48, managing director of Conint, a construction company, pleaded guilty in a Traffic Court to drink driving, inconsiderate driving, and failing to stop and help after an accident along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) near the Tampines Avenue 1 exit on Oct 9.

The court heard that Tan, a former naval officer, was driving along the TPE without due care and attention at about 1.50am when his BMW hit the rear of a Ford Fiesta, driven by Singapore Press Holdings journalist Karen Teng, 40.

He failed to stop and help. Instead, he drove back to his home at Elias Green. The Traffic Police came knocking on his door shortly afterwards.

The police officer noticed that Tan smelt strongly of alcohol. He failed a breath analyser test and was arrested for drink driving.

He was found to have 42mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, 7mcg above the legal limit.

just like in 2004 or is it 2005, a CNB officer was given the lightest jail term ever, due to his "past" contributions to the society.

something to do with him forced a woman to bed with him in exchange of not reporting her for drug related cases.

ya and the factor is cos he is one of the big contributer to the $$$ which garment's ppl are making now...

anyway, he does not really need to drive himself... he can always hire a PT driver... so it does not really makes a bit difference to him...

moral of the story, work ur way up high high and no need to scare any of the law liao...

actually drink driving is not that bad, driving off without rendering assistance should always carry a much heavier penalty to discourage people from running away from scene of crime and leaving the injured to die...

The famous tree branch cyclist case also got away with a slap on the wrist. What is our traffic laws coming too? SUCKS.

because he is an elite? [rolleyes]

I can't think of any mitigating factors for Drunk-Driving PLUS Hit-and-Run.

probably he told the judge he was going to pee in his pants if he don't get home soon enough. <_<

I have no past contribution to society.

Besides paying toilet entrance fees.

Can i be spared of jail sentence if drink-driving? [confused]

Depend on what car you drive lor ...

In this case, BMW vs Ford Fiesta, of course BMW is more successful person.

Score 1:0.

there must be some mitigation factor which you do not know.

May be the Ford Fiesta was road hogging ?

So, we got to thank Mr Tan for helping to remove a road hogger from the road.

managing director+a former naval officer+BMW+home at Elias Green HIT a Ford Fiesta+journalist, it's not hard to guess what's the outcome.. if it's the other way round, the outcome would be very different ofcause. normal lar... nothing new, we should have already get use to it leh..... [dizzy]

I like ppl here especially when it what they view when it comes to who gets what punishment , for what he/she does.

At least ppl here ( mostly anyway) say it as it is and how 'fair' the system is. :D

you all dont understand. try to spend a day in court and hear out the cases, and you will realise in all cases of legal matters, there is usually some mitigating circumstantial factors in most cases and we cannot judge base on partial truth.
