Blackseal 1st Gear December 1, 2010 Share December 1, 2010 Toyota's long-awaited FT-86 hasn't hit dealerships yet, but rumors are suggesting the jointly-developed sports car will lend its chassis to the next-generation Lexus IS. Details are limited, but Road & Track is reporting the car will ride on a stretched version of FT-86 platform and debut in 2013. Unfortunately, the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine will be replaced by a more traditional 2.5-liter six-cylinder and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder. While nothing is official, the news seems to support speculation that Toyota has green-lighted an FT-86 sedan. Furthermore, Lexus has made it clear they want a sportier lineup as previewed by the LFA and upcoming GS-F. Not so powederfuk sports car also expensive. Might as well get a WRX with turbo for much lesser money and good power. SimonTan 2nd Gear December 2, 2010 Share December 2, 2010 For me, it does not matter what chassie sharing or not. Just a nice cheap car will be good enough. Many people don't like to associate cheap cars and Lexus cars sharing the same chassie.
Meanmachine 6th Gear December 25, 2010 Share December 25, 2010 Wat the big fuzz about IS sharing chasis?? Mark X oso having the same platform too, Since the badge is Toyo, not a single bloke hack MX owner, basically MX is a good car, spacious in passsenger seat too, Nice gear knob lighted up at nite. Diff is 25K more.... The fact remains IS is one up above Toyo, speaks for itself, You have to know the specs ask for it, we IS worked hard to own one despite have driven many Japs & Conti before. Many prefer Camry and Vios, I like my car to be driven fast and versatile, performance-orientated, as and when I need the power to explode, I got it ! Nothing to boost yet unassuming, not modi and no special booster enhanced, pure beauty inside a beast. Tat matters most, Driven my IS for 3 years and still loving it , Yeah !
