When I saw the Mondeo in Casino Royale driven by James Bond.I was flabbergasted.Bond steering a mass saloon?!

Since I cannot afford an Aston Martin,Mondeo would be a practical acquisition with endorsement by 007.

The engine of the S60 2.0T 200bhp is a detuned version of the Mondeo's 2.0T EcoBoost 240bhp. And though the exterior styling of the S60 is the most modern Volvo mid-size executive sedan ever, the interior design is still a bit too hard to stomach, especially with regards to the placement of the air-con vents. You get more legroom in the Mondeo (afterall the Mondeo shares bits of chassis with the S80 bigger brother).

Saab 9-5 is using the same 2.0T engine as the Opel Insignia, producing 220bhp. However, Saab 9-5 is a slightly bigger car now, with length over 5m. That said, the overall design of the Saab 9-5 isn't comprehensive and balanced. There's a huge amount of rear overhang, and the way the rear roofline meets the boot isn't really stylish and elegant to me. The interior is still using the old designs, nothing new, albeit with better materials and switchgear.

If it's my money though, it'll be the Ford Mondeo. The fact that 007 drove the Mondeo, and "advertized" the car, outclasses all the other competitors!

The previous 2.3 Mondeo's handling is good ,but a little underpowered to manoeuvre such a big body.

I can't wait for the Ecoboost version.

Of the lot, my choice will be the S60, mainly cos of it's design. I find Mondeo's design a little tired & dated. 9-5 looks refreshing for a Saab, but still not attractive. Insignia sedan have unflattering proportion. The estate version looks much better.

No doubt the Volvo S60 is the most stylish among the lot, but also the smallest. They've also launched the 1.6Turbo V60.

But if it were my money, i wouldn't mind getting the XC60 too=)

I always felt Volvo SUVs are better than their saloons.XC60 is "more avant-garde" looking than the subtle Q5.

However there is the new X3 in the Conti compact SUV segment to look forward to.I think it has the right balance in terms of size, performance and design.

Ive just test drive the ford mondeo and insignia.. didnt test the sabb cos my thinking is cannot buy saab one. my friend got one saab in the past and he piu all the way cos of frequent repairs.

anyway, interior feel, i think opel is better. more solid and classy feel. it also is more spirited drive, responsive and more omph.

mondel is basically larger, especially in the rear. one mini try to race me, but i overtake him almost effortlessly. : P

FC wise, mondeo is definitely better. overall, i think i will go for mondeo cos its cheaper (now at 137k if no trade in) as i think its more realiable in the long run, lower fc, cheaper maintanance? . the rest are quite negligable to me... oh the mondeo car door didnt give me a assuring 'thud' feel despite i try it more than 10 over times..

in fact, i would rather compare the mondeo($137k) vs accord 2.0 ($139k), mazda 6 ($128k) , superb ( 139k).. unfortunately 2nd hand doesnt have the new mondeo ecobooast and superb...

I also think Ford Mondeo is a good car... thought dynamically most competent, i think the interior is a bit aged though the exterior doesn't look as aged because of its rarity on our roads...

But if u dun need so much performance, i think Citroen C5 1.6 turbo is a very plushy car to be in... or the new Peugeot 508 1.6 turbo that i read in a review which beat the new Volkswagen Passat in their test.
