The long wait is almost over as BMW has confirmed plans to unveil the 2012 3-Series on October 14th.

No details were released, but the upcoming model was recently caught undisguised and resembles a smaller version of the 5-Series. Additionally, the car will be longer than its predecessor and offer improved rear seat legroom.

An extensive engine lineup is expected and a hybrid could be introduced with a turbocharged 3.0-liter petrol engine and a 54 PS (40 kW / 54 hp) electric motor.

The interior based on spy pics is disappointing though. Still looks past BMW than the current F10/ F02.

Not much different from the current BMW 3 series. The shape is the same.

The only difference I can make out is the change in the exterior is the front bonnet and addition of side mirror indicator lights. Interior is the same except that the steering and gearstick has changed. The centre view console is also larger.

Overall a nice car though. This active hybrid engine sounds interesting.

Headlights merge with grill? I can almost see current 3 series owners hi 5 each others.

Total disappointment.

say what you like dude, but it will still be a bestseller :D
